Well, your first city was toward him, so even (and a step in the right direction).

Turn 37 & 38

So my scout double-moved Gavanth to a position that would have been invisible if their scout wasn't on his way over here. I did that because I wanted defensive terrain, and planned to move so they could see me again next turn, but it could look a bit dodgy to them... Anyhow I'll probably move the scout S-W or S-SW next turn.

And the third city (1E of horse) should lock in a decent (although flatland) southern border smug. I'm not sure where they'll settle in the north though. A city on or 1E of the Marble would let us settle 1W of silk, which I'd be very happy with. Settling 1E or 1NE of the silver would prevent us putting any more cities over here (safely), so I'd assume they'll do that. Question is how good is the rest of their land? Will they want an early tundra city?

Btw, why E of horse and not SE of Horse (coast)? Easier logistics/defense surely, maintenance(?), not enough benefits from being next to water?

I'm not totally set on it yet, but if I have 3 spare worker turns to road the forest it can settle a turn earlier, then sharing the stone and floodplains is useful too. It just seems to work better in the sims.

I've got it pegged as a production city, so water tiles aren't much cop (moai will be in the far east) and I think on that small stretch of water it will be more trouble than it's worth to maintain a port. Watch me bitch about the lack of naval production later on...

Turn 40

Buddhism was FIADL, probably Dantski or REM. I whipped a work boat - I'm keeping the cap small because it only has two good tiles to work right now. With crabs netted it'll be bouncing between size 3-4 for a bit.

I also got a view into Gav's second city - it'll have wet wheat and the oasis when borders pop in a couple of turns. I think the scout should move to the desert hill 2S next before heading back to scout SE of the pig.

I think Gav's scout took on a bantha and won bow but I'm puzzled how he got to the desert hill facing in that direction - this is last turn's shot before it moved:

Possibilities:
Did he get attacked from the SE or does he have two scouts?
Anyhoo, how much should I worry about him declaring and moving onto the wheat? I moved the warrior 1W after this screenshot just in case.

Perhaps he was attacked by a wolf and that's why we didn't see the barb? Good precaution.

Turn 41

Dantski got Stonehenge and Gavanth moved the scout south to keep exploring. Wolf does seem like the best explanation.
