[Spoilers] Freddy is an Old Giza

Turn 55

They got a bit lucky with the combat and only suffered two hits - the Chariot will promo-heal to be C1 with STR 3.2/4. So both will get good odds on my Axe or Warrior defending Krillpatine. Unfortunately I won't be able to get a spear until T59 at the earliest.

So the new plan is:

T55
1. cut the road on the hill, so that they can't hit the city without being within striking distance of my Axe next turn
2. put workers in the way of the scout so he can't sit on the copper or the plains tile 1E of Krillpatine
3. whip a warrior
T56
1. if the chariots are moved into position to attack (presumably killing the warrior on the plains hill)
1a. use the axe to kill one chariot
1b. leave the warrior in the city
1c. move workers to block the other chariot from hitting the city directly (you can't capture a worker then kill a warrior, but you can capture a worker then walk into an empty city)
2. complete another warrior with overflow (possibly...)
T57
1. He might kill the axe, in which case dogpile with warriors
2. If he retreats to the Ichabacca advance to the plains hill
T58
1. Ichabacca's borders pop
2. Recapture capital
3. Chop comes in...
T59
...
T60
1. Profit :D

Simple!

I offered Gavanth a cease fire as declaring on them was just silly. In fact the scout could have been back to act as a warm body next turn if I'd been thinking straight.

Keeping calm and carrying on, I like it ...

Is there a potential benefit to running 0% and upgrading a warrior to an axe instead of finishing Hunting? Your plan is to recapture the capital without the aid of a spear anyway; I can imagine the +3 strength might help a lot - except against reinforcements ...

Alright, the reviews continue! (OK not really, spoiler free post I promise, I know I'd want to murder someone if they did a drive by movie spoiler in an unexpected place).

Episode VII - The Force Awakens - After waiting around for a while for the pregame setup the start happened kind of suddenly. Once the Baba Yetu theme music played though, I knew we were off to a fast start. I thought the game started out OK, with a lot of good micro discussion and planning about the unusual map/player setup. There was the expected solid discussion back and forth about openings, with THH playing the usual FT role and OH being on the ball about things in general. Then there was a bantha attack and some questions about bantha mechanics, which were sussed out in enough time to deal with them. Then there was apparently a moment when someone should have "had a bad feeling about this", only no one did, and suddenly there were chariots everywhere coming from the ocean. After that I got up to get more popcorn and I just came back to see the game is still going. No idea how it ends yet, I guess the review could have waited until the game was over.

OK, turns out there's nothing to see here, carry on! Give 'em hell, Harry. [Image: smiley-sw001.gif]

I think I would have had to do way more simming to fill FT's shoes. And create a few spreadsheets. And send OH chat messages at 1:02 a.m. Finland time.

I for one did not like the plot twist in this one. lol

Well the hate seems to be coursing through my PC - I assume when I had to crash out of my diplo-pause earlier it left my computer connected to the server. Can a lurker log in for me to see if that frees up the connection?

Nevermind. Restarting the router did the trick.

It'd take 5-6 turns to save enough cash for the upgrade. frown

Anyway, they didn't make the aggressive move I was hoping for - just stayed holed up in Alexandria (why rename it Alexandria?!?). So the new plan is to build a warrior for two turns, then chop and (if needed) whip T58 to produce a spear that can accompany an axe and two workers to join the warrior on the plains hill T59 and with a little luck take the city back T60 (the luck being the Axe fight at 75% needs to get at least 2 hits for the warrior to then clean up).

That gives him t58 to put 3 hammers into an axe, t59 to get it to 6 hammers, then t60 to whip it. Which will be too late.

Or when my stack arrives on t59 they could maneuver the chariots to 1E of the copper tile, which, due to culture could be out of range of the stack, except that Krillpatine's borders will pop t59 and either take that tile straight back or get it t60. Also I hope I can overflow enough hammers to complete a second spear.

Or his galley could be full of reinforcements - I'm pretty sure it's on the highlighted tile (unfortunately my warrior will most likely die this turn frown). Adding an Axe/Spear or two more chariots on the clam on t57 means they won't get to the capital until the second half of t60 - meaning they can amphibiously attack whatever we have in the re-captured city. :/
