That's great. OT6mn it is.

Hey,

congrats for getting the capital back! I was going to wish you luck for an amazing comeback, where you rely on being just spiky enough so that wou won't be attacked, a lot of destructive wars happening all around the globe and slowly grinding yourself back to relevance and to a beautiful T350 victory. However... Gavagai's border city is so damn aggressive that it feels almost like a commitment to attack you latest in the mid-game.

TBH, now that OT6mn has retreated that might be a too greedy play from Gavagai, because you should be able to remain spiky still for a good while and now he definitely has a border where he needs keep a decent amount of units and he might need to attack you instead of some kind of a more lucrative opportunistic target. Of course, Pazuzu is settled on a nice defensive and tactical location so it might be just a solid powerplay, time will tell.

About the delenda est vs. sit tight: As you know, I don't believe in sub-optimal playing just to spite someone who screwed your game, so if you are going to make moves against OT6mn I think there are two requirements (assuming the you don't believe that it will improve your actual winning chances when it would of course be OK):
1. You need believe to some extent that those guys will be coming back and attack you in the future
2. You believe you can fight OT6mn in a way that you actually achieve positive exchanges (hammer-wise or through achieving something in the strategic sense)

This was mostly just thinking out loud, and not really coherent, but hey, I needed a minor dosis of civ! crazyeye

Turn 79

OT6mn surrounded my scout and then offered a cease fire here (you can just about see through the interface - top tip, click on your world map to move the view around while stuck in diplo). I know there is another chariot on the tile marked "c" which I could road and have a spear kill, but I wonder if its possible to use teleporation mechanics to save the scout?

Make that: I know there *was* a chariot on that tile. Looks like they're off to do some more piracy. Xenu, how come you haven't been spamming pirate's all over their thread?

They can hit G.Moff Parkin on T81 and if they can beat me to the turn roll I won't have got a spear in the city. I think I need to stay at war... (Yay! Teleportation!)

You'll notice that I've spammed a few city signs around the place. I need to settle the c by the horse ASAP, so I'd really like to get my stack onto the horse tile to allow me to control things. I offered white peace at the end of the turn, in the hope I can get a settler there quicker than OT6mn.

Thanks, I don't think this is a comeback game unless other players attack both my neighbours giving me a lot of time to regroup.

If I can use staggered peace treaties and build some more chariots then Pazuzu might fall. Its a huge stretch from their core, so (unless I'm their only neighbour) they shouldn't be able to hold all of their army there.

1. With 3-move galleys I have to assume that's what they're planning.
2. Establishing a horse city is the most important thing now. Then getting construction, walls and catapults makes me safe for a while and might allow me to make some slow progress east or west... This is avoiding economic techs though, so becoming Sutree seems like my best option.

Looks like OT6mn will settle 1NE of the horses alright. Guess I'll put together as big an army as possible to check how much they want it ~t89 when enforced peace expires.

The turns just fly by here (even when TheWannabe disappears all weekend then reappears without explanation). Next turn I can declare on OT6mn again, and there is some interesting stuff going on up here... I covered the worker (whose job is to road and chop in preparation for the city to claim the horse) with a chariot and an axe, with a spear and two more chariots axes on their way. OT6mn have an injured spear, an axe and a C1 chariot around, but it's possible I'll have good odds to steal (delete?) two workers or raze the city (which I was surprised they settled on Marble). Is that worth spending half of my war chariots on?

I also lost sight of their Galley, so have to assume an attack on Parkin or Ichabacca are possibilities.

I mean, that's what units are for, right? smile And I doubt you'd get a less costly chance. But it looks like they'll be able to cover the city and workers just fine regardless, unless I misunderstand something.

The wc should get odds on everything so whichever thing OT6mn only cover with one unit can be attacked... (also I said chariots when I meant axes - I only have two wcs.)

Nice blocking OT6mn. Maybe next turn.

Turn 90

Crumbs. OT6mn have five chariots here now, my one spear *should* kill three, then the war chariot should kill a fourth, before the fifth kills an axe. They'll have three axes and a spear available to attack with, but my two remaining axes should deal with that fine. I'd be happy with that hammer exchange, so I'll sit tight for now. If he tries to scoot around with the chariots I can have a couple of spears in Ichabacca to put paid to that plan.

Anyway, maths next turn, chopping and whipping two settlers then hopefully a fleet of war chariots.

Turn 91

I asked Gavanth for a horse loan last turn, didn't expect them to go for it though!

Another two chariots makes the OT6mn army:
7 Chariots (1 shock, 1 c1)
4 Axes
1 C1 Spear

Mine is
4 Axes
1 Spear (with another arriving next turn)
1 WC (the other arriving next turn and thanks to Gavanth and Mathematics a lot more over the next few turns. I'm going to continue to dance around the horse on the viking border so that they think I'm still trying to land that and they don't need to build spears.)

I'm not going to fall back because I can only see one worker and so they can only hit my stack with chariots. I think they're trying to lure me into attacking the city (I guess they might not realise I have visibility on their staging tile). I will move my Axes back though, so that if they do take on the fight it costs them four or five chariots to get a spear, worker and WC...
