We found an issue with the sim. It had the wrong map size setting and so the techs would cost too much in the sim compared to the game. Here's a link to a corrected sim for your team:

We have a second city, if we want one. It points towards agri -> hunting opening, but I'm still unsure. I need to sim and I'll try doing it today, since I'll be staying up late to see my team play.

Yeah, I think agr > hunting for sure. Good city for a religion founding too, can work AH + two grassland river farms (to be latter cottaged) for food, religion will unlock the clam, which isn't a priority but is nice to have.

I hope we have a better second city, though. Cows is only 4 food, which is not great in the snowball phase. It doesn't share any food with Cap too. And clams is a pain to hook. The good thing is that it gets an auto TR. I'd prefer settling this city later, perhaps even on the plains hill...

Anyway, I see some monster signs from scrolling up, so I'll head that way next. Hopefully we find corn and pig mosters.

I feel we have a lot to gain by trying for the Oracle, mostrly due to The Colossus as a big prize.

By the way, it seems incredibly inneficient, but what about scouting 2E with the scout? I got a feeling there could be a pig on that hill tile 3E and not knowing that would be really bad. I think I messed up the scouting already, but I don't want to miss a key resource so close to the Capital. And a resource over there could make a way better second city possible.

Yeah moving the Scout 2E makes sense. Only lose a turn of scouting that way, since can then go 1SW -> 1 SW afterwards.


Idk about the Oracle. I imagine it's a priority for the one IND leader, especially if they think they can chain it into a Pyramids GE. Priesthood also doesn't do much for us if we fail to land it, and even if we do get it we don't get a bonus building Forges, so that's a ton of hammers between it and two wonders.

No new food resource 2E. The password is actually POKE, since I had Caps Lock on when writing it. My team lost yesterday and I'm furious!

Thanks. I won't actually be able to pop into the game for about a week, my gaming PC has been having internet problems for a couple months now & I've been playing civ turns on my work laptop, which I'm loathe to burden with more Civ mods. I'm relocating at the end of this month though, so should have access then.

Does anyone know until which turn you can bank research when the game starts?

Last time I guessed on that I guessed wrong. I'm 99% sure t3 is safe, and 50/50 on whether t4 is safe. Turn 5 is definitely too late

Edit: A few posts later Krill says you have to select the tech on turn 4
