Genius Loki (FFH SG)

In BTS, this would be done. Do you think there's a reasonable chance of pulling off a fantastic RB-style win?

Also, more and more glad I just lurked this one! Out of my depth would have been an understatement.

This is definitely still winnable but very challenging - and to some extent the winning is not in our own hands anymore. A lot depends on how fast Clan will collapse and whether or not Malakim stays at peace with us.

Dreylin?

And yeah, this could go either way. Worth remembering we're not definitely dead when we lose all our cities.

Yeah, sorry. Haven't had a good time to get to this, but tonight looks possible.

Alrighty, a tense set...

I found Seven Pines:

Not getting there easily methinks!

Ho ho ho I have a Sons of Asena:

but then it walks away.

I also spot these two hanging around our NW:

Fortunately they turn back, but not before killing the Scout. I have a couple of Workers lurking around up here to keep an eye out. I also decided that Jonas could perform much better if he had Copper Weapons, so I gifted him our spare Copper (he wouldn't trade his spare Horses to us frown ).

We got a Great Bard so I confirmed that Rhoanna has Drama:

That's a tech deficit right there! eek Barb is sitting in the Cap at the moment since I didn't know what to do with him.

Mahala's back, and this time things are serious:

Yep, that's a scattering of Iron Weapons. :Yikes:

She bypasses the staging tile so I hole up in the city:

Fortunately I had run walked some troops down from the North and they had just arrived. Not enough to make a counterattack unfortunately, but enough to hold the city.

Oh, oops:

Yeah, they kind of snuck past me and wandered around a bit until I could corral them on flatland and eliminate them:

So I played an extra few turns to deal with them, but the next player can have fun with these:

We have some Adepts now. I just have the one running around with the stack, but I guess we want a few more Springing our Deserts?

Good Luck Bob!

Ended up having a surprisingly quiet set-

Jonas is putting his new copper weapons to... well, I was going to say "good use", but he get this stack slaughtered a couple turns later trying to attack a couple elite Paramanders and Bambur. Thankfully the Khazad appear to be busy trading units with the Sheaim.

Decius planted this city in what would have been an almost ideal location for us, enough so that I'd have been tempted to clip it with Loki- except Loki was too far away. I only realized at the very end of my set that it may have made sense for us to use the Great Bard in a culture bomb attempt to flip it. That option should still be on the table; Decius expanded the borders with a Leaves Discipline, but hasn't constructed any culture buildings or spread religion to it yet. I was hoping to save the Artist for a golden age, but our next great person is like 25 turns down the line.

Capria may be eliminated soon, forcing us to build up troops in our east.

Power graph is slightly better. I left us with three reasonably large stacks of Swords / Warriors / Adepts, plus about as many troops spread across various city garrisons. Our enemies have OB with our neutral neighbors, so attacks could come from anywhere.

Most of our cities have completed all available economic builds. We're pretty close to the point of being able to turn on research to finish CoS within a set. Priesthood should thankfully come a bit faster after that, both because it's a much cheaper tech and Temples of the Veil produce science. The appearance of Basium remains a major concern though. Arturus is building wonders, so he might complete the Gate soon.

Boring set.

I hit the bomb, to moderate success:

The rest of it was just laying down cottages. I stopped when I did because of this:

Loki's heading over, but I wanted to give the next player a chance to turn back. Why? Because the 13gpt we get from Loki represents half again our economic surplus (gpt and bpt post-expenses). So idk what is the right move.

Workers on the desert can move to road there, if you go this route.
