RBP3 [SPOILERS] Team Nice Shot - Pacal of Carthage

I meant to move Warren onto the forest 1W of the settler, knowing that we would have a turn to burn. I even thought about it several times at work. Oh well, I guess that's what I get for playing with distractions around me, eh?

And I'm totally in favor of sending William on a little expedition. I will look at your in-game sign in the morning, but I'm sure it will be a logical direction. (near your earlier "food here?" sign?)

It's past my bedtime, I'll look closer at things in the morning. Thanks for ending the turn.

T36 played and ended according to plan. You had William moving exactly where I expected, so I continued along that path. I counted turns and we may even be able to move one more tile east and still get to Red Dot in time for settler protection.

And it looks like we are just 2 turns away from seeing A4's demographics. smile

Ottoman E-mail Wrote:Greetings Team Nice Shot

It is slightly ironic that the Ottoman leader ends next to the Ottoman civilization. We briefly considered what would happen if we got Mehmed instead of Zara but good thing that didn't happen.

We met DIM's scout with our warrior somewhere to the NE of us. We think they are to our E somewhere.

We accept the NAP until T65. We know that you are just throwing a number out there, but we can agree to this. We would be happy to discuss extending it if you would like.

We can agree to share basic info on the other teams we meet (we are practically doing that anyway) under the terms you mentioned. You will need to clarify what you mean exactly by a information sharing pact since our team has interpreted it in a number of ways, any of which could be what you meant.

NAP in place with A4 through T65. There's certainly potential for growth with them, but they seem to be reading pretty deep into every e-mail that we send. I must admit that makes me a little nervous, but it's probably something I should just get used to. I will send them a thank you note for accepting the NAP.

Just had a chance to get caught up with your posts. No problem about Warren. It's only 1 worker turn, so no biggie.

I'm glad we got that NAP. As an answer to their information sharing questions, we could propose to agree to share if we meet any other teams and where we met them/think they are located on the map. We could also propose that down the line once we get closer to alphabet, we could discuss tech stuff with them.

It would also be good to propose to them to stop spending EPs on each other once we reach graphs (I think 43 is the magic number, although I could be wrong). Of course, that could be a problem for us if we don't meet anyone before that...

More Diplomacy Wrote:Indeed it is good to know that our southern neighbours are not blood-thirsty brigands hellbent on our destruction, at least not yet smile May this NAP be of great benefit to both of our civilizations. With
regards to the information sharing pact, it sounds like what you
described is exactly what we agreed to last message, so consider it
done. We'll both keep each other abreast of any contact we make with
other civilizations and their approximate locations.

On that topic, team DIM have shown interest in meeting up with you
sooner rather than later. Once you can spare a unit to scout in their
general direction we'll be happy to provide what directions we can to
ensure you both meet up.

I'm thinking if the barb situation allows, send Karen to meet up with DIM, and have the Red Hill warrior stay at home for MP duty (or maybe Jordan is a better choice... which one is C1?)

In any case, I figure we should have a warrior ready to meet DIM around T45.

I'll inject an Alphabet comment into the next note I send them. Something to the extent of letting them know that we plan to have a unit available to meet DIM by Turn X, and we "hope that this cooperation will continue after Alphabet to maximize our combined strength".

Sadly, I don't think that we'll be able to stop EP spending at graphs, we are at 32 points on them now, and currently require 40 for graphs. (I thought it was 43 also?) ... I don't see us meeting anyone else in the next 2-3 turns. But I will still let them know that we intend to switch EP spending once we have graphs.

I think 43 is the point where both people can have graphs.

I have a feeling I've just wasted the last half our. I've been simming out further, but forgot to include our contact with the Ottomans. They start with the wheel, so that would boost our time on that (and the wheel was being tricky. In the micro plan I came up with, I was coming up 2 or 3 beakers short on the wheel and was fandangaling cities to get it in on time. Now, I may not have to...).

Anyway, our current plan should last for a couple of days. I'll try to redo my work sometime tomorrow or the next day.

Either way, it is looking really good. Even with the missing bonus, we have pottery in by turn 54, with all three of our cities connected to each other. In my sim, at turn 54 we had 4 workers at turn 54, with another half-completed. Utica (the North dot) was at size three working farmed rice, mined gold, and a lake. Red dot was a turn from growing to size two, and Carthage was a couple of turns from size three, with a chop going into a granary the turn pottery completed (I would plan to whip that, put the overflow into a settler, switch to something else for a turn to grow back to size 2, then finish off the settler with another chop helping out).

I agree that it is looking good. Did you go warrior->size 3 in Utica? It seems like the extra commerce from the lake really helps. I changed to worker immediately at size 2, and the best I could get was pottery at T56. It sounds like how you have it going is going to be the strongest route, especially since we don't need workers as highly as I was prioritizing them in my sim.

As soon as I can get the game I will log in and snap a couple screenshots, but I don't plan to play for a couple hours in case there is something we need to add to our current micro plan (Utica gets founded this turn)...

Well, Team A4 whipped a settler two turns ago and founded their second city this turn. Good news is that there was never a settler race for Utica. Hopefully we can beat them to settling our third city.

I logged in once Sockboy logged out and founded Utica, and moved warriors as planned. I have not ended turn as I wanted to discuss science rate with you as well as tiles worked (we want to work the rice tile, right?)

I have to go for now but will be back online in the evening. I will send team A4 a congratulatory second city message along with our other discussed thoughts then.
