Turn 145

Why didn't I gamble on a Galley? cry

They spotted the plan. I could move the stack 1S to threaten Lion Kingdom while they'd need to attack over the river. But I think that's a way that I lose my stack and allow OT6mn to come back at me, so I'm going to hold in place. I might even move some units back into my culture to save on supply costs. I should have city visibility next turn unless they run >50% espionage...

Have OT6mn been saving money for ages? They've been showing Calendar for as long as I can remember so I need to keep an eye on this to see if they are saving cash, running espionage or hiding their research at turn roll. They're making 0gpt.

Thanks, I think I'm enjoying this game because of the challenging position and lack of expectation - so please continue to enjoy!

Too bad on the trireme and plan-spotting. Don't forget they can negate the river crossing penalty where you are now by surprise-roading 1S (not that you don't already know this).

Actually hadn't thought of that. I guess we'll just have to settle for the forest (50%) fort (25%) hill (25%) and hope the extra 25% doesn't bite us on the bum. crazyeye

Turn 146

It looks like Gavanth are helping out - I presume they took this city from the Vikings this turn and they have a couple of Triremes moving to threaten Lodose. It looks like OT6mn chopped something in the city this turn so I might send the Galley I'm producing to the east instead.

City visibility is great! This stack of Horchers not so much. There are 20 that I can see, a lot of which have promotions pending, so with five catapults and flanking 2 they could trouble my stack. I debated moving my cats back to be a counterpunch when they do attack, but that would leave my Longbows taking more collateral... I think I'll just build a bunch of spears and cats to keep back in my territory.

Ew, nasty.

Bitten!

cry They did a clever move hiding their catapults on galleys so that when I moved my cats back towards the core (to defend against the attack I think is coming from Gavanth) they took out the fortress. I killed one HA and pillaged the road but I suspect I'm not long for this particular world...

Turn 152

OT6mn killed off a couple of Triremes but didn't realise I have a 5-move galley, so HabbaHabba is empty. hammer.

We get 128 gold and burn the city. There is an 84HP Trireme here which gets 60% on my galley, but more worrying is the stack of 12 HA, 9 Spears and 3 Axes.

Given we've got 9 Longbows, 17 War Chariots and 2 Catapults I think we could weather that attack except that Gavanth are about to attack (note the closed borders in the previous screenshot) with Maces and catapults.

We'll have Crossbows next turn if Molach, GreyWolf or TheWannabe come through on the Iron trades I've requested, so I'll push most of the longbows east and use the crossbows in the west.
