I love the idea of getting copper, but find it highly unlikely. I'm not worried about france attacking atm but am willing to concede the build of a spear if we have copper. As has been pointed out, barbs will be a much greater cause for worry and I don't expect them to have any 2-movers. A spear still goes down to a barb axeman...

i think barb axes are still many turns away... we haven't seen a warrior yet! now you're getting me worried dazed spear does plenty good vs barb warriors & archers.
one thing i wanted to ask about: did france get visibility into midas at any point after we founded? if so they MIGHT know how to track our builds via the espionage screen & if they see we're building a 35-hammer unit that would also discourage aggression. yeah i know i'm getting WAY ahead of myself into james bond - levels of subterfuge here
i'm assuming we're all ok with extending the french NAP if we're able to?

I'm not worried about barb axemen at the moment, they won't start appearing till 15-20 more turns I think. Barb warriors should start appearing right about now though.
We won't get a chariot online till around T64. Our NAP with France runs out on T61. They would only need to send one chariot to take out Midas the turn our NAP runs out, as our defending warrior has next to no chance of survival.
But we'll see what happens when BW comes in.
Yeah I'd like to extend the NAP till around T86.
India doesn't have The Wheel yet, but they will have it soon. (Krill told me he hadn't been able to pursuade them to skip TW)

I'm all for the NAP with France too. The way I see it, there's no downside for us so I'd be willing to go for it as long as we could reasonably get them to sign for.
I'm crossing my fingers on bronze... but it's making it hard to type!

I've played our turn.
We got some pretty unlucky results with Brute, the lion attack hurt, a lot. He's going to need 6 whole turns to heal...
BW in 3 turns, gold mine will be ready in 2.
Nothing much happening on the diplo front, other than that Krill has offered to swap world maps, and I agreed, as I really want to turn him into a dependable ally. Together with the Ottomans, this should give us a lot of leverage when dealing with the other teams.
I'm sorry if I didn't consult with you before making the swap, it was an act of impulse from my part...
You'll know who to blame if Krill turns up on our borders with 6 War Chariots on turn 62...
Anyway, this is the result:

Y'know looking at our map now, I do wish we'd gone with the horses site first simply because we have 4 unworkable tiles in the gold site... but hindsight is 20/20. Plus, who knows what would have happened then...

ilios, that was a boneheaded move
...
...
seriously...
nah just kidding, i would have done exactly the same he's an ideal ally, too far away for it to be in his interests to attack us (directly anyway) and probably looking for friends after RBP1

Bah, I wouldn't worry about those peak tiles right now. Our city will be size 15 before we feel the unworkable tiles. And like I said before, the city closes our southern border nicely. I'm hoping we get copper near the horse tile, so we can adjust our dotmap and get both resources...

Wow MB you had me for a moment there...
As we wait for India to hit end turn - again, here's A4's reply to my last message:
Quote:Greetings DIM
We in the A4 are grateful we have reached an agreement on both sides
about the border agreement. We hope that we may continue to work
together closely.
We are indeed researching pottery ATM. Can you clarify what you meant
with 'analyzing the optimal research path for each of the alliance
members'. Does this mean that Krill is choosing the research path for
everyone?
Also, if we do let Carthage into the tech group, can our team be the
one to officially let them in? This is because otherwise they might
think we have been purposely holding back on them, which would not be
good for relations.
As intermediate, can you clarify something?
'Tricky (our intrepid explorer), will be heading southeast for a
couple of tiles, and then head due east to try and find the lake you
mentioned.'
The lake we mentioned is W of the horses (directly south of Nemedia).
Is this a typo?
Enough Talking!
WarriorKnight of A4.
Those last few sentences gave me a good laugh... I really don't know what's with me and E-W!
This is what I've sent them back:
Quote:Salutations to A4!
To further cement our relationship, and take it to the next level, we would like to offer you a NAP lasting to turn 80, or until whenever you deem acceptable.
No, ofcourse Krill is not telling us what to research. But if three of the alliance members decide to research Mathematics, you can understand this would not be optimal and indeed be counter to the very advantage of an alliance. Krill merely asks us what we'd like to research and then checks with everyone so there are no teams going for the same expensive tech. I'm sure he'll explain it to you in a better way once you meet up with him. We can already confirm you that we'll be heading to Archery and Horseback Riding next (even skipping Pottery on the way).
We have no problem with the Ottomans (or should I say Hyborians?) formally inviting Carthage into the alliance. We would appreciate if you could wait to do so until after we've met them ourselves.
You are ofcourse right about Tricky's current heading. It would seem I am seriously handicapped when it comes to differentiating between east and west, as my teammates will probably confirm to you... Tricky is obviously heading WEST...
I believe you told us Carthage won't be sending out a scouting unit until around T55? If all goes well we should meet each other by the lake you mentioned.
One a last thing, concerning your planned Gold/Sheep city. This site's third ring will overlap with our Marble city's Wheat tile. Could you give us a rough ETA when it will be founded so we can plan accordingly and not lose the tile to your ferocious culture buildup?
Best regards,
Ilios for DIM

India has finally ended its turn.
Dazed, if you're able, the turn is yours. Tricky should keep moving SW on the forests if possible to meet up with Carthage.
