The Unready One needs to start moving this turn for our next city.
Do we want Beaver Rock, or something for the GH pigs? I prefer Beaver Rock; hoping we find something in the next couple of turns (settling for rivered start, and the future wines), would be ok.
Also, tech needs to be increased to 100%. I don't have time this morning to log in.

I'm in class for most of the day so if you could log in Hap, that would be great.
As for settling... I guess we should go for Beaver Rock, the South is kinda meh. The +1 happy and +4C from furs will be very nice and we get alot more when the borders pop. Plus it pushes us to the Gold/Corn.
I want to also start scouting NW on the river soon.

Unfortunately, the furs are going to be a late hook-up (Hunting). IMO, 2 food resources + the stone option if we want it > 1 food and more river. Also, a GH Pigs site won't get trade routes until a road's built because the river exits our cultural borders, so that's a wash.

I will not be able to log in until I get home from work, probably at least 7 hours from now. If neither of you has done so I will get the turn then, but you will likely beat me to it.
Wines...well, better than nothing. Will be quite nice after Monarchy, but is pretty meh right now. That whole region along the river SE of London is just unimpressive -- too little food. Some farms could make it an OK but not great city. We can settle it later, once iron is revealed in the area.
I think our next city has to be Beaver Rock, unless we want to try something with the other dry wheat to the west. I think we need more exploration in that area before we dotmap that region, though.
We won't get as much benefit from Beaver Rock as we might, since we will not have Hunting or Masonry. But we get two food sources for rapid growth, and there is plenty of grassland to cottage. We will need some roads to get the city hooked up for trade routes and resources.
There is still a possibility for the GH pigs, if we shift the site 1S to the river grass tile and the fogged grass 2S of Gulliver has food. There is also another hill tile 2S of the pigs which might have something, but that is much less likely to be food. Gulliver should reveal the river grass tile next turn, wherever we move him. Try SW and risk the flatland to reach the desert hill the following turn? This will reveal the most tiles. Or maybe S-SE to explore with more safety? (Or make that SE-S if the hill would reveal more tiles across the lake.)

I spent lunch checking up on the game, and it took a little longer than I was expecting:
That's Huayna Capac of Mali. I sent them an in-game "Hello. We can be contacted at [Our E-mail Address]." message, and logged out. I did not end turn, although none of our units have to have orders this turn. Note to self: log screenshots of chat in the future.
We should send them an email (capac dot mail at gmail). Their warrior is damaged (1.5/2), and has at least Woodsman I. Note to self: Screenshot including their units' mouseover data is useful.
My draft:
Quote:Greetings, DSP, Swiss Pauli, and Broker.
We are team CHASM, and hope that our meeting brings our peoples together for profitable cooperation.
We wish to initially propose a NAP through at least T75, with a 10t cooldown period, and to also discuss future tech trades, and to keep both teams informed of contacts with other teams.
Signed,
Cyneheard, Haphazard1, and Antisocialmunky
Please edit and send whenever, I might be on the forums/gchat by turn-end, but probably not able to log into the game.
Unready can move next turn for Beaver Rock; the signs make it clear where he has to go when.
Dossier on Huayna (Fin/Ind) of Mali:
Starting Techs: The Wheel, Mining.
Discovered Techs: Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Bronze Working (T37).
City #2 founded T37
Capital has 3 pop.
Unknown # of warriors. Maximum of 5, minimum 2. Probably 3-4.

Turn 44 for first contact...a lot later than I expected at the start of the game.
Woody warrior could be trouble. If Woodsman II he could snipe one of our workers pretty easily. Hopefully they will not be feeling aggressive. We need some chariots, but that is at least 10 turns away still.
More later, have to go to another meeting.

I think we should congratulate them on getting past all those animals alive. I also think that we should not mention an NAP until we hear back from them. We don't want to come over as desperate.
Anyhoo, they beat us to the punch:
Quote:Hail Merrie England!
Mightly Mali warmly greets our northern neighbours. Have no fear of our warrior, Keef. He may be a little uncouth, but his intentions are peaceful. Next turn, he will return to the forest to heal.
We look forward to hearing from you, and hope to forge a fruitful relationship with you.
Sincerely
Emperor Capac
Should we rename our civ? Maybe Angland or something :-p

I agree that it is too early to discuss NAP and the like. We can let the conversation develop.
Interesting to note they refer to us as their "northern" neighbors. Not sure we should trust that info, but it is interesting.
I like ASM's idea of congratulating their warrior. Maybe something like:
Quote:Greetings from England to the illustrious leaders of mighty Mali!
We congratulate your courageous warrior Keef on battling through the predator-infested wilderness. The ever-hungry wildlife has taken an occasional bite out of our brave warriors as well.
We look forward to building a strong relationship which will benefit both of our glorious peoples.
Team CHASM
Our EP will start accumulating on Mali, but it will be a while before we actually see their demos. We should check how much of their EP is applying to us each turn -- maybe they have already met other civs.

We should talk to them about the 43 EP for graphs. Maybe also ask them about if they've seen any good stuff to the south. Not sure what we can give them in exchange except the information on what's further North. It looks like the yare actually more SW than S since they ran around those mountains instead of through THE PASS.
