Looking forward to getting the GGs for the commando factory. :D

He finally found a hole. Sort of anyway.
There must have been a transport in Silkmoths that I didn't see - nothing else was even close to being in range (the transport had just 6 moves). I've been checking for that every turn because I was aware of the forting possibility, but somehow I didn't see it this time. Disappointing.

That's the poor city that got burned down last time wasn't it?

Why yes it was. The citizens of that area have got to be getting tired of this.
Got a chance to take a look at the new turn now that it's rolled. I just keep learning things about this game.
So I saw this Marine here. It killed a worker (REM deleted his Transport and razing unit). I immediately thought "well okay, we need to kill that." So I dutifully selected two airships from Jenny and ordered an air-strike on the Marine to soften it to see what my odds could get down to.
And then I learned how intercept missions worked. Apparently not the way I thought they did. FANTASTIC. So two airships lit on fire in the name of learning. Anyway, enough about that.
I did confirm that REM's cities near Donovan are pretty weakly defended. Everything is piled into Glitch Mode. Honestly, this may be his only weakness on the board right now. We won't be in position to punish any of it for a bit at which point it may well be too late, but I can at least see something to work with here.
The value would of course be hurting REM, but also opening up Donovan as a possible conquest target for us. Right now he's not a legitimate option because REM's units would simply walk into Donovan's land and hit us on open ground, but if we push his border back and then get peace, well we would at least have options then. Right now our only way of getting new land is peace with REM and stabbing pindicator, which itself is riddled with problems as a general plan.
Anyway, I'll play this later tonight. In other news, REM piled everything (and I do mean everything) into the former Gaspar-land peninsula. Rubenstein popped its borders, so he could safely move stuff. The short of it is that if he decides to attack us or Dreylin, he's probably going to come away with a city kill. The question is more if he can do that without getting stomped by whoever he doesn't attack. I'll probably just stuff some more units in and cross my fingers.

Well would you look at pindicator reminding me to keep morale up after a string of bad events.
Fantastic work by him to snipe this back from REM . He laid a bunch of rails to make it happen. I saw him shift workers and was hoping he had a plan, but I wasn't sure he'd be able to pull it off.
I remember writing a post earlier in this thread suggesting that pindicator was an iffy conquest target in general because even if he was playing totally checked-out, he's got a knack for spiking the tires of the guy who invaded him. Judging by the units NW of this city, he killed around 6-7 REM units to make it happen. I went ahead and added our extra two units in the area (MG + CG Infantry) to this city's garrison to make sure it held for this turn. This suddenly puts REM's island holdings in a precarious place as they're all oh-so-very empty. Hopefully pindicator can get a boat or two.
I caught a nice break myself. I needed to kill that Marine by Zipper. I figured I'd have to sacrifice a unit, so I attacked it with a 5xp Pinch Infantry at 25% odds and won.
This netted us a cool 5xp for a third promotion, and since it was in our borders, we got 10 GG points for it. I think the next GG will cost 60 (there's start era scaling going on messing with my head), so if that's true we're 69 GG points away from commando Infantry. Well, that and West Point. But yeah. If REM moves his boats into range of our Destroyers, we'll have it. If only.
This sure helped free up some units for pindicator - REM heavily emptied this city out. It can't actually be attacked by land due to rails, but REM can't counter-attack pindicator's core as a result. REM being forced to stretch is actually having some small effects.
Some Panzers and Battleships queued. Had to add a couple Barracks as well. Hydraulic is a city that's pretty much fully online as a legitimate contributing city which wasn't true a handful of turns ago. With Panzers incoming, if REM is going to kill Zipper, now is the time.
Selected is the Zipper garrison. I stuffed a few more units in. REM has Transports lined up, and he bombed the defenses down last turn, so he can probably kill it if he wants. I kinda hope he tries honestly. I also stuck some Guerilla infantry on the Textile fort because I was concerned about him landing on that tile.
Spinning Jenny itself is a little lightly defended (those are mostly boats), but we've got a fairly large number of units in play if REM does try a landing, so we should be okay here.
Global tech pace is about to slow down even further I think. We'll see. I thought about weird tech options, but I think we have no choice but to go flight next. We're at a severe disadvantage having no Fighters/Bombers of our own, and if we wait too long to rectify that, it could prove fatal.

The last couple turns pace-wise have actually been fine, but I guess I'm glad to know I'm not the only one weary of the frequent halts of this game. I go back and forth nearly every day whether to truck on or tap out. And to Xenu who isn't used to playing with REM, it can certainly look like he's camping the timer when he goes literally days without even logging in. I don't think it's that - I just think REM doesn't has the necessary RL time to be playing in one of these games right now. It's roughly once every 3 turns or so that it gets held for days. I don't think he's going to find a sub, though.
I've also been toying with the idea of just offering REM peace, swapping into full military civics and builds in every single city, completely ignoring tech, and using the peace window to just go kill some stuff (pindicator, Donovan or whatever) with Panzers/Marines/etc before conceding because that sounds fun, and I might as well have some fun I guess. Maybe get Flight and then not bother with tech from there and see what kind of death machine I can rev up? It would be a shame to come this close to finally seeing Panzers in an RB game only for the game to end right as they're beginning to build.
Of course, doing that forfeits our very remote chance at victory, but what I'm getting at is the pace has harmed my enthusiasm enough that I care about that less than I used to.

Short and sweet today.
4 Transports, and there's a Galleon in the vicinity. Incoming pain? A fair amount of units disappeared from the area too.
Just barely squeaked out another Panzer by trading the crabs for an engineer. Fingers crossed?

Hmmm, never knew that Panzers were based on the Panzer V Panther. I always assumed it would be a Panzer IV since it has a more iconic profile.

I'm surprised as well, I expected a Panzer VI.
Surprise! Turns out I'm a girl!
