I go back and forth nearly every day whether to truck on or tap out. And to Xenu who isn't used to playing with REM, it can certainly look like he's camping the timer when he goes literally days without even logging in. I don't think it's that - I just think REM doesn't has the necessary RL time to be playing in one of these games right now. It's roughly once every 3 turns or so that it gets held for days. I don't think he's going to find a sub, though.

Based on his reply in the PB31 tech thread when I moaned about it I suspect he doesn't realise he's not supposed to camp the timer. He stopped doing it there, but only because he's out of contention.

Edit: Although reading the tech thread it looks like it is just a lack of time.

Losing the city hurts, but losing all the units inside without killing a single unit of REM's is what can't be replaced. Yes, he managed a flawless victory. I mean, I guess I could have abandoned the city, but this is what happens when you fight tanks and fighters with infantry. It's a shame. Half-dozen Panzers would have been there the following turn.

Insult to injury was his last 5 attacks. He won these consecutively after winning a bunch in the 80s to low 90s.

Not that it mattered, but that's pretty brutal.

Anyway, it's concession time. I guess I'll give Dreylin a chance to pull off a miracle counter-attack, but then that'll be it.

Urp. cry Yeah, I think that's pretty much it for this game. We just couldn't get our own tanks and planes out in time to counter. REM was about 6 turns ahead of us on the tech pace, and that was enough to be decisive. That along with the Organized + Statue of Liberty combo was just too much here in the lategame. We have to give credit to REM, he simply played the best game out of any of us. I don't think that any of the other teams have a serious chance to take victory away from him now, especially since he's going to have bombers any turn now, and bombers are stupidly powerful if the other guy doesn't have fighters to shoot them down. (Like, as bad as this turn was for us, imaging if it was bombers hitting our units in Zipper instead, doing collateral damage with every sortie. Yikes.)

I'm happy with how we played this game overall. I think we did pretty well for ourselves, and the setup was a total blast. But it's also time to know when to GG, and I think this is it.

Yeah... While we were trying to close down the tech gap, he's been steadily out-producing us in military every turn, and there's nothing we could do about it. We were so wealth-dependent just to keep pace. If not this turn, it would have been soon. I can say "yeah but we were about to add Panzers," but like Sullla said that rings hollow when he's about to have bombers. As-is he's well-positioned to come after Spinning Jenny next turn. I think we could hold out, but I'm definitely not certain. Not to mention the possibility of him simply riding rails through neutral territory up to our core which is basically empty. So yeah, this one's done.

I looked around a little more, and there's no way we can even hit his stack. I'm not sure Dreylin can either due to the severe lack of rails from his core (and his workers are out of position). So there may not even be a need to wait for Dreylin.

Lurkers: I officially concede. I'll keep that in here so as not to put my thumb on the scale. If you get the impression from Dreylin's thread that he's not ready for that, I suppose I can play another turn or two, but I think once he sees what happened he'll do the same.

Actually both Tigers were designated Pz. VI, with the Tiger I being called PZ. VI Ausf. H and the Tiger II being PZ. VI Ausf. B

Damn, you're right. I was convinced that I was correct, but the idea of the VII being the Tiger II appears to be a myth that has been continued by lazy research and/or mistranslations. Sorry for the off topic discussion, I will stop now.

My interest level in the game has waned recently, but I'm still up for continuing.

The second sentence here suggested to me that Dreylin was willing to play on but was mostly waiting for me to concede. After I posted my concession I saw a flurry of lurker posts, but nothing in Dreylin's thread.

Does this mean he prefers to keep playing? I'd like to know if I need to play this current turn or not.

Dreylin hasn't said anything like this in his thread.
