Great! I will start mapmaking tomorrow. I will try to finish it before I go away for a week on friday but I do not promise it as I have to do other things as well. It is no problem for me to do either 5 or 6 depending on how you decide.
Can we have a summary and confirmation of the decided settings etc. so that everyone is on the same page?

I would prefer to play solo, if possible. It's nothing against you guys, but I know that I'll just disappear and not comment on the game past turn 15 or something, if I'm on a team (I have like 10 games of precedent doing just that). But, again, I have no problem just lurking this one, if you guys want to play it (don't feel bad about saying it).
If I get a spot, I don't mind any settings decided. Well, that's not true, I prefer barbs on, villages on and city states on. Other than that, whatever (I didn't even know Civ 5 had a map editor - I wasn't able to find it, personally -, so it's already better than expected).

As long as people think they can manage a turn within 4-6 hours of getting the save, I don't mind upping it to 6. I imagine that many players will make the map easier to balance.
If that's the case, and everyone is still down to play (don't be afraid to speak up if you're really unsure about playing), I think we can get this show on the road
Anyone object to having 6 players?

6 players sounds good! Welcome Ichabod and HAK
chumchu - I think we all agree that oledavy's great post is the baseline otherwise - 6 players, barbs on, ruins on, quick speed, DLC civs allowed (players - speak up if you don't have any DLC! Complete Edition does include them). Is there anything I'm forgetting? When do we need to pick the civs?

For players/Chumchu, here is current consensus (as near as I can figure), on settings. If I skipped accounting for someone's preference or you want to change one of the settings, please don't hesitate to speak up, we're not really pressed for time.
Speed: Quick
Ancient Ruins: On
Barbs: On
Civ Bans: I think everyone is on board with your Civ bans/picking method
Civ Pick: See above
Religion: Desert Folklore enabled, but craft the map in such a way that it won't be OP
City States Number: Players x2 is fine by me
Worker Steals: Not banned, I think? This doesn't influence mapmaking though.
(Going back, I see 1 for, 2 against, 1 unknown, 2 okay with current settings, which I think is for not banning them?)
This is probably the only one (besides perhaps pick method/bans) that will need to be discussed among players.
We already talked about visions for the map in depth, and I think everyone is more or less on board with what you want to do.
Is there anything else you need to know Chumchu?

I have G&K and BNW. Is that all of them?

oledavy - thanks, your post is much more clear than mine I agree with not banning Worker steals. However, could be worth using a lower difficulty level, so that city states get Workers later?
Difficulty level is something we didn't talk about by the way. Suggest King, should be a good balance between city states not getting Workers on T10 and combat bonuses vs barbs not being too high
HAK - I think there are a few civ-specific DLCs in addition to that. Can you check if you can pick Spain, Babylon and Inca when setting up the game? I will check the full list of DLCs the Complete edition contains when I'm home

All clear!
GNK and BNW are the expansions which is the relevant part. The DLC we are talking about are new civs and maps.

I have all DLC civs and I don't mind if we have to not use them.
