Valeria moved N/NW to start the search for Portugal. He found this:
Hmmmm, I wonder why that jungle silver is there?
Belit moved onto the pig tile for Ruff, we will have to confirm what he will actually do.
Demogs are shocking!
Good news is that both cities will grow next turn so we aren't that bad.
The only thing I couldn't find is what B should do. There were several suggestions about what he could do but I moved him to road the tile 1N. This is because we can see all the tiles around that a 2-mover could move onto and there is nothing there ATM. Also it is directly needed to connect the gold city. Let me know if I deserve a .

If he can do it safely then I think it's the right move as it needs to be done anyway and he's got two turns free. Hopefully nothing appears next turn to interrupt his roading. I'm pretty sure he should move SW/NW and then chop next, but will check that it times ok with the chariot build to overflow into settler.

Turn 55 ticked over. What a difference a turn makes Demogs are looking much better now.
Improvement in the demogs is partially due to growth in both our cities (they're both size 3 now), but also because of this...
Road to Zingara completed then Zingara was founded . The rade route income plus the coin from the city centre offset the city upkeep costs for the moment, so that's good. We've also started to farm the wheat, so that should be done in 3 turns.
Worker B didn't have any issues with barbs from the fog so he finished roading this turn. Next turn he needs to move to the forest and start chopping.
Aquilonia grew and is currently working the rice, sheep and a grassforest. It'll take 4 turns to grow to size four so it needs to work the grassforest for two turns to grow to size four. The other two turns should be spent on a grasshillmine. If we do this we should get the chariot in 5 turns with enough overflow to get us the settler in 2 (with the chop). Nemedia is still on a chariot, it'll complete in two turns, overflow should go into our next worker.
I haven't moved the chariots in the field yet, Valeria picked up a few minor scratches getting to her next exp level (3.0/4.0) . The promotion isn't available this turn, I'd take flanking1 or leave it until we take a bit more damage. Flanking chariots are handy usually. It'll take 3 turns to heal, not sure if we want to heal now, or later. I was thinking we could try and wait until we get OB with someone and rest in their city for 2 turns to save a turn, but not sure if this is wise (or even possible). Belit is still on the pigs, not sure whether he should move up north or not. According to Ruff's last email he wants us in the region, I'd suggest investigating the river system between our pigs site and Ruff's second city, exploring that will let us get trade routes once we get OB with Ruff (although if we need to declare on Ruff to help clear out Incan Quechas then the trade routes might not be worth very much).

Flanking it is then.
OB for healing is too far away and for too little gains to be realistic at this point.
I would wait 2 turns and then start to move again without the promotion. We are close enough to full health to not need the promotion and I would prefer saving it until we get a bad dice roll. We can't be reckless or else Valeria will join Conan and Red Sonja.
Valeria needs to head almost straight W to meet Portugal BTW.

We should meet Inca first. That way we might be able to fish something out of them before they declare. But if we do scout a bit, then we should try to let us get trade routes with Ruff this way.

Let's send messages to everyone we know . In order of importance:
Carthage:
Quote:Hi Nice Shot
As per the information agreement, we have met India 2 turns ago near Krill's border to our SW and Ruff slightly NW of our border the turn before that. We were going to tell you in the chat that we wanted for the weekend but that didn't happen.
The reason we wanted to chat with you is we would like to make you a proposal. As this is a tech trading game, you probably have assumed that there will be a tech trading cartel at some point in the game. Since your team doesn't have many contacts (just the A4 until DIM recently), you probably haven't heard much about tech trades. However, there is a tech cartel forming and your team is in danger of being locked out of it.
However, the A4 along with the other members of the tech cartel do not think that your team should be locked out, so this message is an invitation to join our tech cartel. I can't tell you much about it until you commit, but we can tell you 2 things. Firstly, the A4, DIM, Krill, Ruff and India are some of the members of the cartel. The other thing is that you will need to contact as many of us as fast as you can, particularly Krill (since he is the primus inter pares of the alliance) who is located to your W. However, we would be happy to co-ordinate meetings to help you achieve this.
I don't want to rush your team into making a desicion, but we need to hear your response ASAP. Could your team get back to us regarding this proposal by the end of T56 at the latest?
If you have any questions about the alliance that you would like us to clarify, we would be happy to answer them.
Enough Talking!
WarriorKnight of A4
Our recruitment letter. Let's see how they reply.
DIM:
Quote:DIM
I have just sent this to Carthage to try to recruit them.
(The message to Carthage)
This message is just so you can refer to it if Carthage come to you about it.
Also, how is your progress with England coming along?
Enough Talking!
WarriorKnight of A4
DIM are Carthage's only other contact, so we might as well have a safety net to try and keep Carthage from otherwise saying no
Krill:
Quote:Hi Krill,
I had just woken up and was checking what new messages had arrived when you brought me into a completely unexpected chat with the other members. Still, it was informative on what we had to do in the alliance so I'm glad we were there .
DIM and I are working on recruiting Carthage and we will keep you informed on the progress there. We don't have contact with England or Rome yet so we can't do much there (although we know you were mainly talking to DIM and Dantski there).
2 questions though. How do you know that Exploit is going alpha? Has someone let slip that piece of information to someone within our alliance?
Also when are we going to decide who goes for what? The tech trade day is coming up and it will probably take a while for everyone to know what they are researching with this many teams.
Enough Talking!

Informing Krill that we are doing our job, and also trying for some info
India:
Quote:Greetings DJ Civ
Sorry it took some time to reply, RL is like that sometimes.
Nonetheless, our chariot Valeria is a party horse (pun fully intended). He had a full Lion stew without any hangover at all. We welcome you to the lands of Greater Hyboria to PAR-TAY! anytime you want.
Congradulations on completing Stonehenge, or is it more appropriate to say Woodhenge? In any case, what other wonders could we expect you to PARTY ON in the future?
We are indeed going to be trading pottery on BTTD . It is our understanding that you will be trading Masonry?
We have been approached by DIM about working closer together between you, Ruff, DIM and ourselves (I imagine that Ruff is in WHEOOHRN mode ATM). We are willing to join this group. Do we have a decent name yet?
Enough Talking!
WarriorKnight of A4
P.S. Enough Talking is our standard way to sign off, just as we expect PARTY ON!!! to be yours. See the attached image.
Intro message to India. Main thing is that I have asked what wonders they were thinking of in the future.
Finally, Ruff:
Quote:Ruff
It is unfortunate that you might be in a war this early. Given the circumstances, we would also along the lines of KILL INCA if we were in your situation.
We are still heading to your 2nd city with Belit. We agree that we shouldn't declare until tech trading day, but let us know if they seriously threaten your city and there is something we can do. We will be scouting out the land to your SW after we have made contact with the Inca.
Enough Talking!
WarriorKnight of A4
It's not that Ruff isn't important, it's just that other things are more important. We currently can't do much other than meet Inca and stand around.

Just moved Belit NW and we now have contact with the Inca. They are sitting on 6E.
So 1E of the 5E sign. Reasoning for it is Ruff is (jokingly) referring everything from India's capital.
I think we should wait and see what Inca does. We have the bait out (a chariot nearby their DOW target) so let's see if they ask us to help or something and they might spill something.
EDIT: Change of plan, don't want to seem that we are on Ruff's side (yet) so I have sent them this:
Quote:Greetings Inca
It seems that we have encountered your warrior... oops quechua hotdog with our chariot Valeria. We welcome you to the lands of Greater Hyboria.
We hope that this message will be the start of many years of peace.
Enough Talking!
WarriorKnight of A4
P.S. Enough Talking! is our standard way to sign off. See the attached picture.
Nothing mentioned so it doesn't seem suspicious that we are with Ruff on this one. Don't know what they will send in return though.
EDIT2: Oops, wrong chariot name. Edited correctly

Great Diplo work WK.
It didn't take long before we had a reply from the Incans.
Quote:Greetings Zara of the Ottomans,
Hotdog is very pleased to meet you and so are we!
How's life for you guys?
Have you met others on your travels? If you tell us who you've met, we can exchange directions!
Kind regards,
Nakor for JANK
Well if we were hoping to get any info out of them on first contact I guess we need to think again
Do we want to exchange knowledge? I think we should to keep our options open, but I think we can afford to be selective.

A bunch of other messages have arrived as well:
There has been a bunch of e-mails going around about the war declarations and tactics in the Inca campaign but this one from DJ is probably the most important.
Quote:Hi guys,
Even though there's not a whole lot that we are able to do in that theater, we just wanted to say that we're with you and we will be keeping our ears open. Additionally, once I get a sec to comb through the C&D info that ruff sent, I will let you know what we find out about the Incan power.
We also wanted to let you know that we may be doing the Exploit "Choke to delay Alpha" on our own, since Rome seems to want to wait for Praets and Portugal doesn't seem to have horses. So we may not be able to provide an expensive tech next round, but hopefully our military contributions will be seen as having value as well. Just wanted to keep you guys updated and PARTY ON!
DJ Civ
If they are going to choke Exploit, then they may not be trying for the HG. Of course, there is still several turns before math but still.
Other message from DJ just to us
Quote:Hi A4,
Wait a minute, isn't that a paper size?!?! And yes, our miraculous wooden pillars are quite the sight to see! We will have to stop by your capital sometime to see if you have anything nearly as awe-inspiring! And you should see what happens when things get out of control during one of our parties - you can get out on the Woodhenge and ... well... maybe I shouldn't say..... :-D
As for other wonders, we haven't really talked about it that much. In just internal team bull sessions, we've thrown out reasonable ideas for completing every wonder out there this side of The Internet. We even talked some early on about going for the Great Lighthouse, though somehow I don't think that we'll end up building that one
And that is excellent news to hear we can expect Pottery by BTTD. We had wanted to go for that next but we were convinced to hold off as you guys would have it. And yes we will be providing Masonry and also have Mysticism and a few other things that we can give out.
As for our "inner" group, as you probably imagined from our group email a bit ago, yes that is my understanding (us, you, Aztecs and HRE). We don't have a good name yet (and definitely we need one!!)
PARTY ON!
DJ Civ
Nothing much in info here, but what do you expect? Will have to think of a response.
Finally from Krill:
Quote:WK,
I know Exploit is going for Alphabet because he told India about it. However, he went via Pottery to Writing to research it the hard way.
We should decide who does what on turn 63. Get everyone in one large chat (if we have met) or several chat rooms and have 1 person transfer information from one to the other. We can then make an informed decision after every says how much gold they have stored, how many beakers they will make and how much they lose at 100%.
I think the tech trade day will be around Friday, most likely before Sunday at some point. We will almost certainly have to take a long time to sort it out, a couple of hours at least.
Krill
So... we will discuss who goes what in one big group on Friday. It probably will make sense but Krill will have to send a time out for everyone. Dunno if everyone will be there or not.

OK, 2 new messages. You want the good news or the bad news?
Bad news from Ruff
Quote:Hi All,
Yes - it is WAR. To save myself from writing exactly the same stuff twice ... see here

(chit chat between Ath and myself)
and

(current situation)
Again, only these posts and not the whole thread <grin>.
Any suggestions?
As discussed with Ottomans and suggested by DJ, I think your chariot should head off for a while and be ready to return on Tech Trade Day. Who knows, I might still be alive then ... and I might still have a 2nd city.

Looks like it's official. We are indeed going to wait until TTD until we declare. The most important thing mentioned is that athlete has guessed that one of the surprises is us declaring on them. Of course we aren't going to (yet) so we need to be as peaceful as possible (no commitments though).
Also here is a idea. We could use the river system near our lands to send Ruff our copper. The only reason I can think against it is that it requires us to settle our pig city 4th (instead of 6th) or it requires a road to the river. We would have to wait until TTD but it could help Ruff out loads. Sockboy, could we make this work?
Anyway, good news from Carthage:
Quote:Good evening,
Team Nice Shot hopes this note finds your team well. We have discussed the tech trading alliance and we see it in the best interest of all parties for our team to participate. As a further gesture of goodwill, our team would like to extend our current NAP by 20 more turns, to an even T85.
All of that having been said, we do have more questions about the TT alliance. We understand that we may need to discuss with more members before we get a clearer picture, and are working on that, but want to build strong ties with you and DIM while we have the opportunity. So our questions:
*Post-alphabet, who is researching what?
*Does this alliance include any type of mutual NAP/defensive pact/ or is it just a tech trading alliance? (especially important with the DOW against Ruff)
*Are we making any effort at this point to even out beakers?
Also, we should be able to meet Krill in 2-3 turns depending on exact timing. It sounds like we will meet England around the same time. The hope is that by T62, we will have made the full round of contacts so that alliance communication can be easier. We are devoting as many resources as possible to this effort.
Talk to you soon,
Mr. Nice Guy of Team Nice Shot
They are in :dancing5:. Sent a message to Krill and DIM with the good news. I'll answer the questions in the replying half of my diplo update.

Ok everything else looks good, but this I'm not so sure. We can hook up copper by TTD but I don't think we've got enough workers in the right places to road to pigs in time. The only worker who can help is worker B and he's stuck on the far side of the capital with rivers and hills and forests to cross. there's at least 3 roads needed and 2 of those are of forest/hills so we're looking at a minimum of 8 worker turns. We might be able to hook everything around by t70 or so, but it sounds that's a bit late. Ruff's copper is to the far side of the Incans, so if he can free a worker for a few turns he should be able to hook it once the Quecha is dealt with (which we will if it's still around on TTD).
Also will we need to be able to see the connection to Ruff (or he to us) for this to work? If so we'll need to uncover a lot of the fog between us (which is probably not a bad idea anyway). Ruff's counter attack sounds promising though, I think it'll be a nasty surprise for the Incans.
Looks like Ruff is using cricket batting averages for his city names? In descending order of best to worst perhaps? What a strange theme
