How's this for a character blurb?
TheHumanHydra Wrote:‘You and I both know I’ve always hated him, Wilbur, but damn it, he’s my brother, I have to go after him. He should have told me he was going in the first place. I may not be half the sportsman or sword-arm he is - goodness knows I know it, living around him - but I’m no runt, however he may treat me. I could’ve helped him. You know what makes it worse? He probably convinced himself he was protecting me by leaving me behind. Sanctimonious brat. I’ve a father to patronize me; I don’t need him to as well.’
A sigh.
‘I’d be a hypocrite if I said you couldn’t come along, too, Wilbur, but I won’t ask you to. I know your heart wouldn’t be in it and you’d worry your parents sick besides. And that’s no fault of yours. I was always wilder than you. Don’t worry, I won’t risk myself unnecessarily, not this time - not for him. But I will do my damnedest to get him back, if it’s safe. Or bring his body back so he can at least have a proper burial, so Mum can let him go. I’ll see you again in a fortnight or less - I promise.’
With a final clasping of the hands with his friend, Niall Erns of Giles, mayor’s son, set off on the rough-hewn path into the hills above the town, where the lights glimmer and the shadows walk.
Mechanically I'd like to play as a Magus, if that's okay with everyone.

Sure. I'm a druid myself, unless the group ends up totally unbalanced. But with already 2 versatile characters chances are that we'll be fine.
I'll write a little backstory too once my character sheet is finished

I hadn't built with gunpowder in mind, but if you like the mechanic note both the bolt ace and the swashbuckler (a hybrid class, but if you're really into grit/panache...).

Holy crap, thanks for directing me to look at those options. I hadn't realised what an archetype was, and now I feel like its christmass and I have a giant stack of presents, except instead of presents they are character classes. I might end up going with the swashbuckler, but there are so many other options I might wind up with something else.
Surprise! Turns out I'm a girl!

The bolt ace is actually mechanically stronger than the gunslinger base.
By the way, please try to avoid tanking scores below 7, even after adjustments. I know the "Charisma so low he's shot on sight" is a dwarf stereotype, but...

Ok, I promise, last question for a while. I ended up going with Swashbuckler, and I have never used a point buy system and am having trouble putting together a competent character, given that I need strength for damage, dex to hit (because I have built in weapon finess), and charisma for class abilities, which all together really strains my points. Does anyone have some basic tips for getting a decent amount of 3 different stats, or has my perception of "decent" been clouded by years of using the "4d6 pick best 3" system for years? Edit: Here is my character so far if you have suggestions for scores to reduce. I haven't done things like feats, and 2 points of the dex comes from race.

I went with three 14s (one bumped to 16 by race), a 12, a 10, and an 8. You could go 16 Dex, 14 Str, 14 Cha, the others as you wish, for example. I can't see your sheet since you have to be registered at that website (sorry).
