What kyrub was thinking when he created Insecticide

I found the original two threads where kyrub announces and then develops Insecticide. One of them is on the long-defunct Dragonsword forum, and the other is on gog.com's MoM forum. These reveal what kyrub was thinking when he created it, and how people reacted to it.

Haha, kyrub is a hero among retro gamers! It's scary how many google results you get when you type "kyrub". His nickname appears casually in various download sections of the internet, forums etc and often just mentioned by third parties. Until recently I didn't know he improved so many old games:
- MoM
- Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
- Master of Orion
- Heroes of Might and Magic 3
- Terror from the Deep (UFO/X-COM depending on your continent)
- Emperor of the Fading Suns

I wonder where he gets the motivation for his efforts.

Motivation? I'm sure seeing old games improved is motivation enough. A lot of times, these classics are really good but the developers skimped on important parts of the game because they just didn't care. A little TLC from an assembly programmer, and poof, new life into an old classic.
