Looking in game I don't see what if anything Ruff can do about this. I'm pretty sure right this moment he's blowing smoke. He's got a few warriors, and bronzeworking. I'm pretty sure one of his power spikes is the wheel and really our only threat is if he's going to get archery before we strike. Our initial force is 2 axes and 1 quecha so we should be ok I think. We'll have another axe a turn behind as well.

Well it looks like Ruff was lucky enough to have copper pop in his culture and he's got it hooked up. It might be possible that's him discovering AH or getting an archer or something though...Anyways we'll find out soon. Next turn we declare!

MAYDAY!!!
Quote:Kyan: hey pal
still about?
me: yes, just a few more minutes
Kyan: ok, ill make it long story short
a huge tech bloc is forming
PB1 UTA style
and you're currently not in it (unless you're damned good liars )
neither are we
me: aha
Kyan: they are either beelining alpha like mad or they're oracling it
me: do you know who are in?
Kyan: if it's oracle, then your attack on ruff (since it would be out of india, aztec or egypt to do it)
is vital
yes sort of
egypt, india, england, carthage, HRE, ottomans are all definites
i heavily suspect portgual and aztec also
me: thatá big bloc
Kyan: indeed
and i'd say that was a minimum
im unsure on rome and sumeria tho i DOUBT sumeria. cant see rego working with exploit
me: I do hate those tech blocs...
Kyan: france are out also along with yourselves and our mini group
(maya byz mali babylon)
me: great! you know Rome's osition?
position?
Kyan: yes but we can't spare a scout
sorry crashed
byz will meet rome soon
me: is Rome in the bloc?
Kyan: we dont know
thats the lkey
*key
you have contact, and our group also has contact with exploit now
me: okay, why is attacking vital?
Kyan: well if ruff is making oracle
and you wipe his capital...
me: yes?
Kyan: then oracle doesnt get made
they dont oracle and early alphabet- i'll get alphabet cos of acadmey before they do
i'll spread it to 'the outcast side'
me: well,m if he IS aiming at the Oracle, he should be toast real son
Kyan: good
England have cheesed us off by trying to play both sides
and are playing a total farmers gambit
keep this under wraps but expect activity soon
me: Like Slaze in RB2
ok, good to know other are taking action.
Kyan: yep cept we are churning out axemen
me: We NEED to get Rome omn our side if this is happening
Kyan: agreed
i dont have contact
will need to rely on you guys here
me: we'v got some axes ourseles
will get into it tomorrow
Kyan: good luck
could you please shoot rome an email, we'll get exploit sounded out
we need both them on board if poss
get rome to plow into krill or india
and their alliance will shatter
with england/aztec and one of them all getting smashed
me: will see what I can do. Time for me to go now. thanks for the heads up!
Kyan: thanks, take care pal
What to do?
I did send Rome a message.
Good luck playing the turn, Athlete!

read the chat...i bet ruff's powerspike is due to a gift and nothing he's done...this was really not the type of game I was looking forward to...oh well...hopefully our strike will work! I won't be able to play the turn for probably a few more hours...

War declared on the Aztecs.
His surprise #1 for us is an aztec warrior to our cap SE. We have an MP quecha and I've moved the quecha from Kiwi Town towards our cap. He should move onto the rice on T56. We have an injured quecha who defeated a lion on the interturn move into the borders of Kiwi Town and should move there to heal be MP.
The quecha by Ruffs second city should move 1E onto the forest. Our stack of 2 Axes, 1 Quecha should move 1NW towards his capital. Our axe trailing should follow the road 1W and then move 1NW.
Our capital should switch back to working the rice and 2 mines on T56. It's currently working a cottage and 2 mines.
The above is instructions for all relevant moves in case I can't play them next turn due to time splits. If you see something should be done differently I'm open to suggestions but I think the moves are pretty straightforward.

A couple of comments.
With Ruff's last e-mail I suspected we should bring a spear along but never voiced it, just dismissing it out of mind. I figured we'll take the chance with 2 axes. His most recent power spike is either AH, an Axe (if he was lucky to get copper at his start), or a gift of either an axe or chariot. My guess is a gift of a chariot now that I know a big bloc is forming (or formed), so we might not get very far. Either way I don't really care as I'm too focused on PB2 to be more connected with this game.
There is an ottoman chariot beside our quecha who's near ruff's 2nd city...so the ottoman's might declare on us or gift their chariot.

Quick e-mail from Ruff:
Quote:Guys,
I see that you've declared on me and invaded The Village Green. As I've said, I have prepared a number of surprises for you. You can already see 1 and, at last count, I have at least 5 more (don't worry - more are currently in planning). Don't think that I am bluffing ... because I don't bluff. I'm not very good at so I just stick to the truth. If I say something, I mean it. Sure, I may not tell you the whole truth, or reveal all of my secrets ... but if I share something ... trust me, it is accurate. Go back and look at all of my diplo from pbem#1, #2, the Apolyton demo game ... you will not find any out right lie in any of them.
So, last chance ... call off the attack, turn around now and head home and we'll just write it off as a little disagreement ('-1 You didn't like my Color' and '+1 You accepted our differences'). Peak over the hill to see if I am really telling you the truth (I am, but you will have to exhibit some degree of trust) and it is a grudge match ('-20 You called me a chucker' - for those that don't follow cricket, a chucker is the very worst insult ... effectively you said that the bowler doesn't bowl the ball, he throws it) where I will see you dead, your land salted and the name Inca go down in history as unworthy to be trusted, and unfaithful to accept someone at their word.
Your decision.
Ruff
Again from Ruff:
Quote:JANK,
I'm assuming you are claiming the second half leaving me with the first half? I'm fine with that. If you claim the first half then we will have a problem. BTW - athlete - you missed my very last comment to you 'no, no hard feelings ... this will be fun'.
Ruff
And my response:
Quote:Hey Ruff,
Ya sorry, we take the 2nd half of the turn. That's what we did the turn before and have done this turn so this is the formal acknowledgement of that. As for your first e-mail we'll have to have a peek over the hill so to speak and see atleast 1 of the other surprises before we call anything off.
Enjoy the glint off of our shiny axes!

Given that Ruff made his moves and posted he's done I logged in and moved our scouting units.
The war moves I think shoudl be changed to give Hot Dog 1T of healing before moving to the rice. Though if we move him now we could take out the chance of his warrior moving to a hill. What do you guys think?
As for him saying s**t or get off the pot...I'd say lets continue down the track we started. If he does have help and beats us then I'm ok with that, but if we win, we win big I think...
