RBP3 - [SPOILERS] - Team DIM (Mehmed of HRE)

Ilios Wrote:I follow your stream-of-consciousness fully MB. smile

I will prepare a draft to send over to India and see what they reply.

Re CoL, like I said before, we'll be in a pretty good position to get it once we finish HBR. I don't think we need to bother Krill more about at the moment, let's see how the game evolves. Thanks for giving us an idea on where we'll be in 15 turns.

I agree that diplomatically, we are in a very good position, with many of the Cartel members joining because of our hard work. They will look to us for guidance. I'm thinking that we shouldn't tie ourselves too much to India and Azteca. Azteca will be seriously crippled in the short term, and with India hellbent on eradicating Exploit, there will not be much help coming from that side as well.
Therefore, I would prefer to work closely with Ottomans ofcourse, and add both Carthage and England to our inner alliance. This doesn't mean we will be cutting our ties with Aztec and India, but in the long term, I think it is in our interest to form an alliance with Ottomans/Carthage/England. We are all relatively new to MP, and I think we can convince them that it is in their interest as well to join forces. Geographically, this Alliance would make more sense, as we'd form a solid block, with Ottomans to Carthage's north, and HRE to England's north.
We shouldn't approach them initially, but I'd like to broach the subject with Ottomans when we have the chance.

we are on exactly the same page. i had a whole paragraph in there about how it made more sense to work with these guys but thought better of it as i'd rambled enough already.

Inca question time:

Here's Ruff's last message:

Quote:Hi All,

Yes - it is WAR. To save myself from writing exactly the same stuff twice ... see here

http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/showpost....tcount=147
(chit chat between Ath and myself)

and

http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/showpost....tcount=148
(current situation)

Again, only these posts and not the whole thread <grin>.

Any suggestions?

As discussed with Ottomans and suggested by DJ, I think your chariot should head off for a while and be ready to return on Tech Trade Day. Who knows, I might still be alive then ... and I might still have a 2nd city.

I am going to ask Ruff if he expects us to declare war this turn, because I'm not sure we will make the window (first half of the turn).

Should we declare war? There can't be much harm as there's no way Inca can get a unit down to us before T65, when we'll have a couple of chariots running around. And I have a dislike for early aggressors... Might be fun, no? Inca consists of Athlete4Life, Kalin, Nakor and Jowy.

This morning I moved all our units, except for Pizarro. Hopefully we'll have a reply from Ruff soon, and we can have Dazed finish the turn, in time for the first half of the turn timer (if we decide to declare this turn).

only thing is unless inca have whipped their capital down to size 1, they can easily whip a third axe and smash the bejeesus out of us. still we might be able to pillage something before that happens. but i think moving in = dead warrior & free XP for inca. let's see what happens. i'm happy to go in.

Diplo-update:

Aztec:

Subject: War Declaration

Quote:DIM,

I cannot see their capital so I don't know its makeup (next turn I will). How about you move 1NE and I will fill you in next turn.

Ruff

Ottomans:

Subject: Inner Alliance

Quote:Hi DIM

Here are my thoughts regarding our team members:

I trust the Aztec's. Seeing as they will be crippled by the Inca's he
won't be able to win the game. Therefore his mission becomes, in his
words, KILL INCA!!! He would gladly support us in order to achieve
that goal so I don't think that he would turn on us. Afterwards he
would still support us because we supported him and turning on us
would be silly for him.

India is less certain. We have only known them for a short period of
time so we can not trust them completely (yet). However, they are
doing their job within the cartel (crippling Exploit) so I wouldn't
count them out because of that. Simply, we haven't known India for
long enough to really decide one way or another.

You may be uncertain now, but time will tell. I trust Aztec, and I
doubt that India would propose the alliance and then jump out of it.

For the moment it would seem, they are sticking with India and Aztec. Somewhere in the future, I think it would be a good idea if you had a chat with Ottomans regarding Carthage and England Meatbalz.

Subject: Email to India regarding Exploit

Quote:DIM

I am not sure of Rome's intentions, since we haven't met them yet, so
I can't comment there. Nor can I comment on the Portugese lack of
Horses, although it's possible the map maker could have (intentionally
or not) not given them any.

While waiting and teching might seem like a good idea, I think that
crippling Exploit is the right move. He is their power player if he is
going for Alpha and denying them alpha for even a few turns would cost
them much more than it would cost us.

So really, India are going for Exploit since it would hurt the other
alliance more than it would hurt us, which is the right thing to do.

I'm not really happy with this message, because I'd rather have India give their reasons...

That's a shame, but at least all of those diplo messages are cool. Can
I guess the 5 suprises?

1. Our chariot doesn't attack
2. Archers
3. Tech Trading Day
4. Our chariot does attack

Can't guess the 5th one though.

Inca and us are only really exchanging plesant messages to one
another. They suspect that we will declare, so they are trying to fish
for info for us before we do. I don't know how effective this ruse
will last though but moving away might make them change their minds
about us.

Also, since we only met recently, how did you and Inca get in a war situation?

WarriorKnight of A4

I think it's funny Inca hasn't sent us a message yet. Have they really not noticed our warrior at their borders yet?
Reply

considering he's right there and called francisco pizarro, they'd have to be very foolish incas indeed not to have seen him lol

on a side note, it's no coincidence inca chose aztec i think. early religion not only weakens your early development but also makes you a more attractive target. funny that A/K are going to try capturing the buddhist holy city for the second game in a row

Yup, probably main reason. I think Kathlete will have a harder time taking this Holy city though...

Couple of Diplo updates:

Ottomans to Ruff and us:

Subject: Incan war

note: I had sent a short message asking whether it was possible Inca hadn't spotted Pizarro yet

Quote:Actually, I think that both the Inca and us know that will DOW on them
and we are both trying to fish as much info out of each other as
possible while not actually spelling anything. They know of your units
near their border (check ruff's thread about the suprises)

We are currently considering when we can give Ruff more support. We
will inform you of the results as soon as we can.

We have consulted our plans and we can't get another chariot to your
lands by TTD.

However, we can get another chariot to the tile 3E of your 2nd city by
T64. This is assuming barbs are not a major problem.

We have considered some other possibilities on how we can help you and
we have conluded that we can send you our source of copper along the
river that your 2 cities are planted by T65. Let us know if you want
us to do this since is deviates from our current micro plan.

WarriorKnight of A4

Quote:Hey - here is an idea. Can you send your current chariot E and cut that road? that would slow them down and wouldn't need a war declaration from you. It might tip your position but if Inca have already tumbled to it, then it isn't much of a cost.

Who knows, if you stay in the area, you might be able to nab a free worker or two.

When do you need feedback re copper? TBH, I don't think that copper really helps me. I can hold with my archers. Wait - if they show up with horses, spears would really help. Let me know how much lead time you need or if anyone else will have some copper to spare ... I might be able to plan 2 spears in 2 turns if I have enough warning so that I can return the copper quick smart.

DIM to Aztec:

Subject: Inca war

Quote:Ruff,

It wasn't all that clear to us you expected us to declare and invade this turn (T56). While I haven't ended the turn yet or moved Pizarro, I'm not sure we'll have someone to play the turn before the first half runs out.

We actually thought you'd declare, and then ask us to move in if the opportunity was there. Anyway, let us know so we can act accordingly.

Ruff

Quote:Ruff,

With the slowing of the turn timer I might be home on time to declare war within the first half of the turn (current ETA 3 hours 6 minutes)
Do we know if their capital is at size 1? Any larger than that and Inca could simply whip an axe, right?

Hey oh! Sorry I haven't posted a lot. I'm starting to feel like the weakest link here. I'm really glad I didn't attempt to play solo becuase life has just been beating me over the head with things eating up all my time. I see the note about having me log in to play above. I can always make time to play a turn if you let me know via email.

There is one thing that I can say about this game, it's getting really interesting! Diplomacy is kind of crazy with so many teams in the game, that's for sure
