Anya notes subtle signs of something heavy being pushed down into the water. Given the rocky terrain, its hard to tell much else.
The dog whines and draws back from the sea; he may have once been a ship's dog but he is clearly not wanting anything more to do with the ocean.

Looks like we will be following that path down to the dwarf after all he calls to the others before he stops and notices the signs of something being pushed down to the water. Noticing Saint's whining he takes a closer look at the marks, while staying well clear from the surf to see if he can read anything else in the tracks, especially if it could have something to do with that creature that almost killed him
It actually doesn't look anything like the track of a cephalopod, more like a dragged boat of some sort.
