Zalson plays one turn at a time [COMPLETE]

T149
Najran starts its aqueduct. But then I’ll overflow into the palace. Next up, I’ll whip a temple into the palace.

Kufah starts a 5T settler.

Another great general shows up.

The temple of solomon gives me $14 gpt. Not too shabby!

Meet Anjar. This city will work a couple cottages for Najran and will then work its own on a couple of the riverside tiles. It'll probably get to about size 8 or 9.

Other cities: Basra is slow growing but I’m going to whip a lighthouse next turn. The extra water tiles will give me some additional some better growth.

T150
Whip the Madrassa in Thebes and will overflow into a settler.

Whip a lighthouse in Heliopolis.

Whip the forge in memphis.

Mecca starts it settler.

Whip Basra’s lighthouse.

Najran starts a settler, which it will build and whip on the last turn to overflow into the palace.

Looking solid. What's your ETA on silver? An additional 2 happiness in Najran looks valuable (and, of course, more happy other places too probably could be nice). Any other resources in your sphere of influence just waiting on a settler?

Silver is at least 3t away (I'll need caste system to pop borders, I think.)

In retrospect, that probably would have been a better choice for Anjar. There's also a whale up north.

T151 overview

Well, that's nice to know!

Mecca:

Will need a courthouse once the palace moves. Will start that after the settler finished. I'll grow it up 1 more size and then switch to another settler for spot 2.

Medina

Has all its essential infrastructure. It’ll build catapults for the time being.

Damascus

I was trying to generate a scientist but there are better ways/places to do that. It’s building a galley that will be all but useless for a while… It’ll need a courthouse once the palace moves. 21 turns for colossus but I think i can build it faster elsewhere.

Baghdad
This formerly terrible site is doing okay. I’ll replace the a few farms with cottages I think and will watermill once I get SP.

Najran:

Going to be working on building the capital for the foreseeable future. Will whip the Jewish temple in 4 turns for a lot of overflow.

Need to replace that FP farm.

Kufah:

working FPs for Najran because otherwise it’s pretty weak. Overflow into an missionary and then another; need to convert all my cities.

Otherwise, it;ll just build units. i'm thinking this might be the place for the heroic epic.

Basra:
On a missionary for now, for the city that’s coming out of Mecca.

On second thought, i think this ends up becoming the heroic epic. The bonus to ships will be quite useful.

Heliopolis
[Image: t151-13.jpeg]

Our first conquest and a very nice commerce city. Jewish and Hindu monasteries will follow the Market.

Thebes
[Image: t151-9.jpeg]
What a powerhouse. I’d put the national epic here but it’s got too many great prophet/great artist points. Instead of a settler right off the bat, I think I’ll try for colossus. It’ll grow one more size on the overflow and then 3x whip the settler into the Colossus.

Memphis
[Image: 151-17.jpeg]

A commerce city by default. Needs courthouse, market, madrassa. Probably would be better to whip the Madrassa for more useful specialists.

Elephantine:

forge is whipped, followed by courthouse. Another commerce city.

Alexandria
[Image: t151-12.jpeg]

still getting started. I’m going to whip the galley and overflow into another 2 workboats for the Moai city.

Pi-Ramesses:
Hope to get this another workable tile by next turn, by sharing with Memphis. tick avoid growth so I can grab the rice next turn.

Khursan:
Some bad tile management means I have a cottage where I’d prefer a farm. So let’s work the Marble.

Anjar:
working a cottage for Najran until I can get that farm up and running.

Trying to create a sign in the north, I accidentally hit enter and ended turn. D’oh.

T152
So: demos on T152

The chop E of Mecca finishes the settler in 1T.

Qin converted to Hinduism. Oops. So I trade him a rice for 6 gpt and a 10T peace treaty.

I turn science back on for Aesthetics in 2. But is this what I really need? Other options:

1T options:
HBR
Monarchy

2T options:
Aesthetics
Alpha
Theology
Compass

3T options
Machinery
Paper
Philo

Aesthetics only benefits me because of Literature. Machinery gets me an excellent unit. Monarchy means I can switch to Caste and Monarchy next turn. HBR means I can start on stables.

Long-term, I don’t think Knights get me too much otherwise I’d head that way. However, feudalism means I can jump into serfdom/vassalage…

After thinking about it, I don’t need Monarchy or Fedualism yet. I’m safe for another 10T. Aesthetics and the great Library is a good choice; might as well push the economy.

EDIT: Now that I think about it: Monarchy - It’ll give me happy to get Najran up to size.

I’ve got visibility on Xian. That means that spreading judaism to Qin might be a good idea over the next 10 turns — so I’ll prioritize Alpha for spies.

Settling locations in order of priority. First wave will come in about 3-4 turns. Second wave will come, I hope, 3-4 turns after that.

I think I lost my T153-155 post from ... yesterday? Monday?

Let's see if I can reconstruct my posts from T153. I did write something for T156/7 (I think), but that's at home. But since I've got the images hosted, let's see.

T153
I complete the galley from Damascus and sail it around the ocean to get to Alexandria. Woe is me for I am bad at counting apparently. No idea how I got that it would take 10 turns to get there.

As you can see, I am finishing Aesthetics in 1T. I had a list of builds completed on this turn but that is lost to time.

Also, is that a good method for following along?

T154
Completed Aesthetics and overflow into Literature. I think, on this turn, Basra started the heroic epic.

Founded Fustat this turn. This fishing village will grow to about size 13 or 14 and will be commercial.

After founding the city, I whipped just about every city in my empire while heading into Caste System and Hereditary Rule. Good thing I made a double switch for that 0 turn of anarchy.

In other news, I am happy I didn't try for the hanging gardens. Qin put it in Hangzhou, right on the front. Unfortunately, when I invade Qin, that'll be the first city I burn down.

T155
Completing Lierature in 1T with 357 beakers means that I get a ton of overflow into Drama. I cut science because, well, I need the gold.

Thebes will complete the Colossus next turn which is very nice, especically considering the number of fishing villages I'm going to be putting up shortly.

Found the otherwise useless city of Aden in the north. Naturally, I manage to get no roads up there in time for trade routes. This city will get to size 7 but will product a nice amount of commerce: 16 plus trade routes. Also, it gets me a silver. First up is the workboat (via the copper), and then some whip cycles to get the: lighthouse, forge, and commerce buildings.

Initially, I had Damascus on insance scientist push but realized: 1 can easily grow to a higher size and do that faster. Plus that'll mean more food to burn through. Additionally, if I do this, it means I am not going to get the yields from the villages, dyes, and gems.

T155
+126 gpt/355 beakers (-208 gpt)

I re-micro damascus; it can regrow in 1T so I’ll regrow and get the extra scientist.

T156
+142 gpt/… 373 beakers. Not bad for a free wonder.

Thebes gets the Colosssus. Woot. Fustat pops its borders and I get a free spread of Judaism into Shangai.

Thebes will probably end up whipping the market into the … the Great Library? I don’t really have another high hammer spot I can put it in. However, Thebes is probably more valuable as a draft camp? I’m really not sure…

Well, how about Mecca? I’m not going to be able to build the Palace in 12 turns in Najran so might as well use that hammer production from bureaucracy…

Qin finished Feudalism last turn. We’ll see what he picks next.

Qin is going Aesthetics.

I moved workers and that’s about it.

I think I’ve said this before but I’ve now realized why people wait to pacifism/golden age to generate their great people. +200% is kind of hard to argue.

The current great person plan will be via Mecca. It’s size 13 (going on 14) and will have the Great Library. Hoping I can generate an academy for Najran in the meantime.

Cities:

I think Damascus and Medina, since they’ve got their infra, will become my settler pumps. Najran will do so too once it gets to full size, which will be in a few turns yet.

Drama! Start music!

Kufah finishes an archer. Starts a 5T settler.

Settler and missionary are in place for my next city.

Start a settler in Damascus. the overflow is pretty nice.

T159
Start a jewish missionary in Heliopolis for the settler from Kufah.

Meet Yamama.

Not too bad. Everything is good for commerce now, it would appear.

Switch back to slavery.

Start a Jewish missionary in Medina for the settler at Damascus.

2x whip in Najran. It has 42 turns of whip unhappiness !

3x whip the market at Thebes. Maybe overflow the shwedagon paya? For pacifism in a few turns? Or the parthenon? Yeah, it’ll be the Parthenon: the +50% production to great people will be useful.

2x whip the Madrassa in Elephantine.

Grab a jewish temple in mecca. I’ll one pop whip and overflow into the Great Library next turn. #overflow.

Cancel the Jewish missionary at Helipolis. I’ll do it in Baghdad. Instead, start Theatre.

T160
Baghdad starts a jewish missionary for Kufah’s settler (due around the same time).

Thebes… overflows into Shwedagon pay. I want pacifism and will finish in fewer than 24 turns.

Memphis starts a madrassa.

I’ll crack Mecca’s whip in 1T for max overflow. I think that’s the right way to do that with +100% growth? Or can I only overflow 100% of the construction costs (so: only 160/80 for a temple?)’

I’m going to need at least 3 more missionaries after this round for the new cities.

Medina is just about maxed and won’t be whipped anymore (except in emergencies). I can grow it to size 14 and it can just sit there building missionaries and units and anything else I need.

I think I’ll need alphabet sooner than later for spies. I’m starting to feel a wee bit itchy on the trigger finger…
