PBEM 74a/74b- Mini-Tournament

I hadn't even thought of the notion of using a map script. Torusland (is that what you mean? I couldn't find Torusworld proper) seems really cool, and caters to what I was talking about in my earlier post about wishing for some asymmetry, but I've been taking a pretty active role here and I don't want to shout anyone down.

I'd be quite happy with REM(?) rolling up a Torusland, undertaking some mild balancing of resources and then unleashing the game on us.

I could even do this if you decide to go this route.

I have some time this weekend. I can make whatever for you guys. You also however need to decide on a new picking system as those scores were map dependent.

I would be happy to make a 65 redux style map or something.

Ah, I missed that bit. Can someone remind me of what was used last time and which bits were specific to this map?

The notion of points-style picking was imported from PBEMs 45 and 53, and REM and Commodore balanced the specific point costs for the map REM made, but I don't think anything obligates us to stick with the system if people would prefer we switch it up (with either snake picks, or random assignment like PB11, I guess?).

My original idea was to use that theme from the pbem where the cap had a few improved tiles, and each trait/civ game you a free building added or tile change. Like if you chose exp your corn lost its irrigation, if you chose cham you started with 3 pop. Cre you got a town. Cannot remember the game number though.

Hmmm, I can't say that concept has immediately grabbed me, but I'll go with the majority.

I see that we're in good hands. My tolerance for mapmaker shenanigans extends up to barbarian submarines and custom Python events. In terms of other settings, I liked quick speed, no barbarians, and the overall lushness, and I wasn't a huge fan of flat world wrap.
