Wasn't there some game with super-barbs that killed the players?
Edit: PBEM27.

Alright, I declare victory. The game in question: PBEM60
That was the game where Deity AIs played a game until 1AD, and then the players took over for them. Some of them had to dig their way out of some ridiculous setups.

Turn 237
The big news was that we successfully got a scientist as hoped. That's a pretty big win. I immediately bulbed the rest of Printing Press and started on Democracy. That means this golden age resulted in 5,000 beakers worth of bulbs (1500 Education, 1k Economics, 1k Constitution, 1500 Printing Press). If we can convert that into the Statue before neighbors can kill us, I'll feel pretty good about that choice. Some foreign exploration:
All that food results in some weird things if you don't have an army of workers.
You know, I was tempted to sail over here and boat something of Mackoti's earlier when I had a longbow on my Galley. The problem was that as far as I knew he hadn't settled Ghost Dragon yet. Maybe he had, and I just didn't know about it yet.
Glad I took the peace? 4 Phracts is nothing, but the rest of us have less than nothing:
I'm enjoying all the weird things I can do with this city's food surplus. Anyway, I'll swap it to a settler next turn, 4-pop whip it, and I'll be back to size 8 or so within about 5 turns. Absurd. A University and National Epic is the plan in here. I'll just try to run as many specialists as I can. It's pretty profitable with Representation.
I did settle this city too, but I don't see much point in encouraging you to guess which game this one is. I needed a name, and it'd been too long before this insane game got its own city.
Post-golden age demos. I was more or less tied for tops in food/gnp before I whipped away a bunch of population. Production will continue to lag behind as I'll just keep whipping things because why not. My biggest concern now at this stage is tech rate and collecting up economic boosts. Conquest is extremely difficult in this map setup (especially with my neighbors), so the ideal strategy seems to be to push economy and wait for a military opportunity to arise. I'm not especially worried about getting attacked myself because invading someone with population + Altars is likely suicidal, and everyone else has a better target than me available.
Next turn I have a new settler available, I whip two more, and start another. We'll see if anyone stomps in my plans between now and then.
Here's the city counts:

Its PB6 or the other CV that happened around that time I assume. PB6 got the sweet-sweet-hubris, fan art, and drama over banning CV though so probably PB6.
Have we hit 50 turns yet? It feels like we are getting close to a 'State of the World' report.
@scooter, where are you going to put the SoL? Any ideas? I don't see an obvious location. Should we start taking bets about how many pop points are about to be sacrificed to Lady Liberty?

Oh, I remember that one! I had wanted to sign up but wasn't in time, so I just watched. I remember Commodore played a strong game from a really bad spot but then got pushed back by some combined forces, retep took the lead and seemed poised to coast to an inevitable victory, and then

THE DAILY ROLL
TURN 237: FIRST PAST THE POST
The Aztecs breathed easy once again when a 60% great scientist leapt out of the academy. Their vital essence was immediately harvested for researching the printing press, the only obstacle before democracy and the precious Statue of Liberty. Open borders with Byzantium and a new spy at their front have retrieved more data on the designs of the Aztecs' greatest adversary. Their power rating is rising above the rest of the world, and the Aztecs take this as confirmation they could not have contested the eastern isthmus, even if they had persevered. Their golden age is over, and so is the population's respite from slavery in the midst of a hurry to rush more settlers to make up for the Khmer Empire's lead: they secure thirteen cities to the Aztecs' twelve. England and Byzantium both carry eleven, while the Netherlands and Ottoman Empire claim ten and nine, respectively. The recent 5000 beaker boost from the fruits of great people has granted the Aztecs a tally of five techs, a lead they will want to push with future improved research dividends from Oxford University. Economy and research will be their current projects as they await a victim for their next military adventure.

Yeah, Culture Victory was PB6.
I'm a day or so behind on reporting, but on the next turn I'll be settling 3 cities at once. I've burned through a lot of my favorite games, so if there's one you'd really like to see memorialized, recommend away. There's plenty of games I don't know much about that are deserving of a city name.
