What is going on with Ichabod?
Completely outplayed by Cairo. Ichabod even swapped into Nationhood.
Meanwhile I sniped another former Cairo island city from Ichabod.
He's got a few galleons there, but my ships should be ok with the coastal defense. If not, this little fleet is expendable anyways.
If this was two years ago when I first join this site to play MP, I definitely would not have attacked Ichabod here. From PB20, the biggest lesson I learned was to not let other people get things that you can easily take for yourself. In that game, I should have attack wetbandit much earlier to put myself in a better position.
I started to march onto Cairo's capital with cannons, will be a little slower than just two movers, but no need to take unnecessary losses against PRO musket on a hill with 60% culture.
A quick city count:
Me: 50 cities
Ichabod: 36 cities
Dreylin: 32 cities
AT: 20 cities
My filler cities does inflate my count a bit, but Merc is so ridiculous that they are very valuable to have.

The game gets called on Turn 200. Guess that's it.
If pitboss are continuing to be run, I will probably join another game. Otherwise, I will join in on the Civ6 craze once I get a machine that's capable of running the game.
If anyone have any questions about this game, post them here. Otherwise, until next time!

I could have sworn I posted something in here a few days ago!
Anyway, I wanted to ask about your Statue plans; were you anticipating a race, and were you stacking overflow to speed the build?
Also, who was going to receive the blessings of your Cavs if Mr. Cairo hadn't been distracted?

Regarding the Statue, I was considering the possibility of a race against either you or Ichabod, but Ichabod diverted to Corporation instead. If there was the possibility of a race, I was planning to use my GE that I had stacked. I even had an extra Great Artist that I considered using to bulb Democracy considering that I know you had a GE. I planned to have about 100 base hammer of overflow towards the build.
So plan if anyone were to race me to the Statue:
GE: 920h (500+20*21 size city)
which leaves 1500-920 = 580h
Had IND+Forge+Copper+OR for 2.5 multiplier
580h/2.5 = 232 base hammers
With 100 base hammers overflow, and ~50 base hammers per turn, it would have been a 3 turn build with the engineer after I tech Democracy.
I was going to attack Nyles until Ichabod attack Cairo, which just made it too tempting to not switch the target.
FWIW, I thought you played really well. I considered you to be a bigger threat than Ichabod towards the end. Honestly, if it was possible for you to finish off Yuri earlier, you might've won.

Thanks!
I hadn't considered that your Artist would go into Democracy; that would probably have tied us on the turn we got there and started the Statue. I would have had an extra size on my GEng rush, and a similar overflow, but the lack or OR & IND would have mine as a 5t - maaybe 4t - build. My goal was to try to get the coinflip, but sounds like I'd have had to settle for burning 2 of your Great People while still keeping mine.
Re Yuri: looking back, maybe I should have taken more of a risk and kept piling in to him, but I'd outrun my intel on his army location & composition and didn't have enough unit diversity in the advancing stack to continue once he had Pikes or a concentrated defense. I had to keep diverting units to cover new borders with Nyles, AT & Molcah, all the while preparing contingency for the attack from you. I suspect that if I had pushed further, you'd have had a decent chance to come in a liberate BRickland from me.
From where we were, once it was clear that Ichabod was getting torn up by Mr. Cairo, I guess I could have tried to take Aztecia for myself. I just never saw a decent opportunity to really gut Ichabod's stack, without which I'd have just made myself vulnerable. Maybe I should have tried it, but I'm generally of the opinion that once one player's chances are >2/3-ish it's not really fair on the other players to keep them logging into a game while I'm pursuing a slim chance of victory.

After going through your whole thread, I can see how you are feeling stretched at that point. I think I probably would have done the same thing. The only real "mistake" I can see from your thread is actually goes really far back: the locations of your 2nd and 3rd cities were quite weak and that hurt your snowball. But hey, hindsight and all.

Thanks man. Btw, great map! I also enjoyed the monsters thing. I got to admit some of the monster names were pretty clever and made some good entertainment.

Nice job Gawdzak, that was a tricky neighbour situation you had.
