Good call on not attacking the chariot stack. Alhazard's Phalanxes are a concern since I don't have many Axes to counter them so it looks like we'll have a three-way standoff at that part of the world.
Solidly second:
Need to save my Great Scientists for PHI/SPI Golden Age & Bulbing fun. That's about it.
Teched CoL, building Courthouses. Saving cash on Mathematics and will follow with a GA -> Civil Service or something.
Have a GS and a Prophet saved up, just need two more to bulb Education for discounted universities. (August 5th, 2016, 11:17)ipecac Wrote: Teched CoL, building Courthouses. The plan is to flash a few HA mass HAs to deter the others from attacking while I do a mass university build after bulbing Education.
Alhazard is clearly in the lead and has Aesthetics, probably going down the top of the tree. Got CS, now I'm 2turning Paper, and planning to bulb Education with 2x scientists. Then I have 2 other GP for 2nd Golden Age for Philosophy -> Lib beeline + mass PHI Uni builds (may need to get Construction beforehand for safety reasons though).

I played really well in 57, and provided I put in the time, I'll play pretty damn good here. I easilly got the best leader. PHI is fucking king on this setting. Everyone else think FIN is still best trait, which belies their inexperience. FIN is mediocre, yeah it's good on river tiles, but with empires mazing out at 7isih cities, waht's the point man? PHI gives quick OXford and Beauracracy capital and quick academy/bulbs for lib race. SPI gives cheap temples/cool strategies. PHI/SPI sucked big time.
Oxy I don't know if you are reading this but I have to say that if you were going for the phi play, you really should have rushed mids hard imo. Also I think my pick was pretty good. It's prince but toroidal wrap in a very small map quickly leads to heavy maintenance. Yeah cre can backfire but the culture is needed if your opponent is pushing culture hard. Odeon was awesome because of 2 happiness since I got blocked out of spices and never could spare enough troops to hook up wine. Phalanx helped a lot in the early game when most of the conflict actually happened.
