RBP3 [SPOILERS] Team Nice Shot - Pacal of Carthage

Wow, that's all awesome stuff!

So to summarize:

*They want worker(s)
*We want the sheep

If they are okay with ceding us 1SE of the sheep in sheep-horse land, do you think that they would give us our original St. Paul location? (1N of horses), as I really do think that that is a stronger city site per our earlier conversations.

They confirmed via screenshot that the land south of the stone is not pretty, so it can be a relatively low priority.

However they also confirmed the map is more crowded than we thought, making blue dot as well as any potential southbound settling (I don't see anything worthwhile, do you?) a higher priority.

They want the corn in the north, and are willing to give us the northern sheep (if A4 allows) in order to have it.

So the only things I'm unclear on... let me know if I just missed it.. is:

*would 1N of horses be okay by Krill
*Are we giving 1 worker, or more, for that spot? (honestly, 1 easy worker isn't a huge cost for it but if that's all he wants, that's all he gets.. smile )
*What is the timeline on paying our dues so to speak?

Just got your PM, nice to hear from you wink

Just so you know, I just sent Krill a quick note that had screenshots of the area around the corn that we just revealed.

FYI, the barracks build in Boring is just a 1t placeholder until we get writing next turn and build a library. I have barracks as the placeholder over say a warrior because the hammers in the warrior would decay too fast.

I'm not sure on anything besides what you saw in the chat. I kinda cut it off there to check in with you before getting back to him.

My immediate thoughts are that 1SE of the first sheep and then SW-W of the northern sheep actually works out quite nicely as a dot map. To me, those also seem less aggressive towards our neighbors too (settling 1N of the northern sheep seems quite aggressive towards A4 to me). My suspicion is he suggested 1SW because he wants one kinda to the north, and those BFCs would overlap (except not on the sheep).

What I was thinking of proposing to Krill re: workers is that we would be allowed to pasture the horses at our new city and then gift him one of those workers. Then, upon completion of math and a border pop in lakewood, we would chop out another worker to give to him. My guess would be that worker would complete somewhere in the range of t75-80 (depending on when we can pop borders; probably closer to 80) and get to the corn city 3 turns or so later. Would that sound doable to you?

Would you like to draft the message to Krill, or should I (obviously after we finish discussing it ourselves?)

Let me pop my head in game and get back to you.

I saw the draft of the e-mail.

Um... I've never shared an e-mail with someone before... it's weird to see a draft-in-progress that someone else is typing up. Fun times!

Feels weird knowing someone was watching.

Looking in game, I think 1SE of the sheep is certainly the place for St. Paul to go.

I'm not so sold on 1N of the northern sheep (Lion T60 sign). It would have a lot of plains tiles which seem wasted to me. But I suppose that it could grow to size 8 and be a good production city working sheep+2farms+ 5 grass hills for 16 hammers/turn? I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

So for e-mail to Krill.. how about something along these lines:
Quote:Carthage gets:

*Settling rights 1SE of the "southern sheep" as referred to in the chat.
*Settling rights 1N of the "'northern sheep" as referred to in the chat.

Egypt gets:

*2 workers. 1, Christy, to be delivered as soon as the horses are pastured at the new city. 2nd worker to be delivered roughly T80, dependent on the timing of Maths coming in. Carthage will keep Egypt up-to-date with completion estimates.
*Settling rights Near the corn Shoot the Moon... where did you guys eventually settle for the corn?

I agree. I think the site SW-W of that sheep is much preferable. At the end of the chat, Krill seemed to mention a site for his corn that would only have 2 tile overlap with that site, which might be worth inquiring about.

The site 1N could actually grow to size ten and work 7 grass hills (remember the two free food from the city tile). It wouldn't be great, but it could be workable.

In regards to the email: I think we could actually push for SW-W of the northern sheep if you like that site better. We had left that distinction pretty ambiguous as I remember. We would have to be diplomatic about how we do it (perhaps offer to not settle the spot until our 6th city and then not try to fight a culture war except to get our second ring, or something like that)

We hadn't actually settled anything for the corn yet, as we were mostly waiting for the turn to roll over to get more info.

By the way, we could also offer as a nice gesture to gift Krill sheep if he doesn't have it anywhere else and wants/needs the health bonus.

EDIT: Here is what Krill said from the chat:
Quote:Kril: I'm likely to settle about 2W of that corn
maybe 2W1S
maximum overlap is 2 tiles
but I'm not sure
also, brb

That was in regards to our having the SW-W spot.
