RBP3 [SPOILERS] Team Nice Shot - Pacal of Carthage

Quote:me: Good morning... or evening...?
Ghandi: Good evening
1926 here
me: Okay, I thought I had read in one of the threads that you were in England.
Sent at 11:27 AM on Tuesday
Ghandi: Yeah, I am.
I take it you and Nice guy are Pacific coast?
me: (Speaking with Nice Guy) but yes, the two of us are west coasters
Ghandi: cool. Unfortunately, I have to go and eat dinner with the family right now, but I can try to be back in 10 minutes, if that is still OK with you?
me: Sure. I'm trying to do housework, so will be back and forth but will be around until lunch time
Ghandi: ok
cya in 10
Sent at 11:31 AM on Tuesday
Ghandi's new status message - I'm not here right now 11:36 AM
Ghandi: back
Sent at 11:45 AM on Tuesday
Ghandi: I'm ready to chat when you get back from lunch, just give us a bell
Sent at 11:50 AM on Tuesday
Ghandi: and if you want to use teamspeak2 to chat about this game or anything, you can use my server at 195.137.73.51:8767. Chat to Shootthemoon about getting on teh same page, or to someone else about diplomacy, or to work to gether to coordinate an attack, I've created it to ease the diplomacy situation for RB.

me: :Back and forth until baby agrees to naptime:: We think that 3 workers is acceptable but a timeline of 10 turns or less is a little on the unreasonable side. What about 1 of the roading workers next turn, then 1 more worker in 10 turns and 1 more worker 10 turns later?
Sent at 12:06 PM on Tuesday
Ghandi: so, those are the turns for gifting?
Sent at 12:07 PM on Tuesday
me: then you would get 1/3 of the gift earlier than you wanted, and 1/3 later than you wanted. turns would be T63, T73, T83
Sent at 12:08 PM on Tuesday
Ghandi: would you consider moving back the first gift, and moving the others forward?
Sent at 12:16 PM on Tuesday
me: Something like T68 (2 workers) T 78 third worker?
Ghandi: Something like that would be OK for me.
If that lets you get the sheep and horses on line as well
it should help you.
Maybe chop the granary before size 1
me: I think that would be beneficial for both of us.
Ghandi: Well, I'm happy to go with the T68 (2workers) T78 third worker plan
Would you still be online for t70/t71ish Maths
?
me: Without looking at the game I believe so.
We have enough infrastructure in place to focus on research and military at this point
Sent at 12:20 PM on Tuesday
Ghandi: Cool
I'm probably going to shove out a few WC and make sure I'm safe then grab a few extra cities,
me: What direction was Lobo's land?
Ghandi: North
ME and him were pretty damned close
me: well you eliminated him on T.. 11? You'd have to have been on top of each other
Ghandi: Yup
Luckily he sent out his warrior, or I wouldn;t be any where near Oracle, and I'd have spent alot more resources on killing him
He'd still be dead though

We then went on to discuss PB1. The key point is that he has agreed to 2 workers to be gifted T68, with a third to be gifted on T78. This afternoon or evening I will look in the game to find out how to make that happen, but I have an idea already in mind that should be feasible.

Overall, I'm okay with this agreement. 3 workers is a bit more than I would have preferred but I badly want long term peace with Krill and I think this is a good step in that direction.

Or the lurkers are laughing at us for paying someone 3 workers for them to tell us to change our expansion plans to less optimal sites.

In other news, I also had a chat with HRE. They are pretty worried about Praets (they border Rome) but I reminded them that they have a neighbor with Numidian Cavalry. Hopefully he will remember that comment later and come asking to buy some from us. I think we can profit from all the war in this game...

More to come after lunch time...

Nice job with the chat. I think that plan for the workers would be acceptable for me. We should probably ask if he would have a military unit available to help fog bust the path for the t68 workers.

I haven't taken a look at the game, but if we could get the pasture and sheep done at the new city, those two could be our first to workers. That city won't really need any more workers until it gets a border pop anyway, as all the forests are in the second ring.

We could then either straight build a worker in lakewood at size 5 or chop it out with math.

One last thing, it would be nice to give Krill a little poke about that missionary he mentioned a while ago. I think we should make clear it is NOT part of the border agreement, but that we currently have no border pops and would rather put the hammers into missionaries than monuments or expensive libraries for now. If he could get us one missionary in the next 5 or so turns, we would rather spread religion (which also benefits him) for our culture than other means.

By the way, the turn just rolled over. If you can, do you want to log in and request techs of Krill? (I would, but I have to go for about an hour. I will have forum access (iphone) but not game access).

Why do we not have a warrior in lakewood? It's unhappy from lack of military protection: we need a warrior there.

I will include all of the above in the formal email to him tonight. If you are online again tonight, we can repeat the last couple nights, shooting drafts back and forth until we are satisfied. Without looking too close, I think the straight build at size five will be the best choice.. rice+gold+two cottages+ lake tile will be helpful for our research.

And I am pretty sure that we can get both pastures made by T68, that's why I shot that date out there. After looking in game, though, I think I was off by a turn, but we'll survive.

Also, went in game, played most of the turn. More to come after dinner and whatnot but the short of it is we got open borders from English, and writing and mysticism from Egypt. I also requested Hunting from HRE.

All seems to be going according to plan. The other major note we need to send tonight is to England. We need to get a settling agreement out there with them so we don't have to worry about the east, and also start co-ordinating the southern tactics, as I really believe Mali will be attacking on T83, the first possible turn.

More to come at the usual time but I really must go now.

I'll be on at the usual times, but will probably be watching the Blazer's game at the same time (well, unless it goes like the last game...)

Oh no, it's bad enough that my facebook account is dominated by Blazer talk from my parents who live 20 minutes away from P-Town. Now RB too! For what it's worth, if it comes down to it our team e-mails for diplomacy will change to "BEAT LA" - I think that goes without saying. And I haven't followed the team closely for 10 years.

The pace of an NBA game seems about perfect for diplo discussions: check the forums at every ad break or free-throws.

Border agreement with Krill:

Quote:Krill,

Thanks for the chat earlier today (yesterday across the pond). Per our conversation, we agree to the following:

Egypt gets:

*3 workers from Carthage. 2 to be delivered T68, 1 more to be delivered T78.

*Rights to the northern corn city.

Carthage gets:

*Rights to the city site 1SE of the southern sheep

*Rights to the city site SW-W of the northern sheep

Will you have a unit available to escort the T68 workers?

Again, thank you for the chat, and the techs this turn!

And a second note:

Quote:Krill,

Earlier, you mentioned spreading hinduism our direction. At this point, we have no border pops and could really use them, but would rather spend the hammers on missionaries which benefit our allies through shrine gold than on worthless monuments or expensive libraries. What kind of ETA are we looking at for a missionary to hit us?

I know I'm missing something here. What else do we need to say?

One of them is on their way... about two turns out.
