As you can see above, I've placed all 3 workers on separate forests (one of them a roaded forest, it just finished this turn). However, I can move all of them to a single forest next turn and chop that, if I need to get a WC in one turn to kill a scouting warrior prior to it pillaging my horses (barbs or southern enemy civs). Although I'm still not sure if I'm going to chop anything if I don't need that WC, considering it is only 10 turns to Maths. If I can get those extra workers from Carthage, I probably won't, and will just slave out the settler and WC (OK, perhaps a single chop...), and settle south and north asap, plus try to find a fifth city spot (and maybe 6th?)

Email to the CAN (minus France)
Quote:Hi guys,
Just a heads up, Oracle finishes next turn, so prepare for the massive score increases and a very slow turn. provided the turn rolls tonight, I'll log in tomorrow taking the required shots for my thread, select Alphabet, and send round the important stuff. However, I can;t offer Alphabet until you all accept Writing, so I most likely won't be able to send that until I return from work tomorrow evening GMT. However, I need to go the garage to get my car fixed (something funky with the alternator, in case you are interested...), so I don't know when I'll be back. Don't worry in case you think I'm trying to stiff you out of the techs, and don't worry about getting techs from each other. You might have to play the turn later on, but there is nothing we can do about that, after Maya decided to waste most of Sunday for no reason.
So, now it is time to really prepare for war. You lot probably don;t believe me, but this game is built along the lines of a proper Ladder MP game, and it will be correspondingly vicious. HRE are already researching HBR, so I suggest you prepare to slave out a few HA, and don't skimp on the axes or spears either. If you do, you are very likely to get 2 or even 3 v 1'd. Get out a sentry net of warriors and archers, and make sure you have a viable front city that you can easily defend from attack.
If you decide to build libraries, or plant up to 6, 7 cities etc, and don't bother building the military, you are going to get smashed into the ground (and in the settler case bankrupt yourself). I don't think any of the CAN want their allies to be weakened in such a way, especially if you aren't pulling your weight technologically.

Got the 3 workers, on an acceptable timesline. I get 2 workers t68, and a third worker t78. Those last two can position and line up a chop apiece for when Maths is gifted. That third worker coming later, well, I'm OK with that, 10 worker turns for the city location will be fine by me. That means I'm going to get the WC and settler for the horses asap via slavery, and dedicate the three workers next to AM to improving it. The fourth worker coming out of DM eot t63 will road a plains hill next to the river so I have a trade route to India (hopefully...I have uncovered the river to where Happy Hour is located, but I don't know that the city is there on my map, so would I still get the trade routes?) DM will then start a granary and grow to size 4...I need that city up to size 6 IMO.
Quote:(7:26:49 PM) Carthage: Good morning... or evening...?
(7:26:55 PM) Krill: Good evening
(7:26:58 PM) Krill: 1926 here
(7:27:26 PM) Carthage: Okay, I thought I had read in one of the threads that you were in England.
(7:28:45 PM) Krill: Yeah, I am.
(7:29:10 PM) Krill: I take it you and Nice guy are Pacific coast?
(7:29:35 PM) Carthage: (Speaking with Nice Guy) but yes, the two of us are west coasters
(7:30:33 PM) Krill: cool. Unfortunately, I have to go and eat dinner with the family right now, but I can try to be back in 10 minutes, if that is still OK with you?
(7:31:14 PM) Carthage: Sure. I'm trying to do housework, so will be back and forth but will be around until lunch time
(7:31:20 PM) Krill: ok
(7:31:23 PM) Krill: cya in 10
(7:45:21 PM) Krill: back
(7:50:06 PM) Krill: I'm ready to chat when you get back from lunch, just give us a bell
(7:51:42 PM) Krill: and if you want to use teamspeak2 to chat about this game or anything, you can use my server at 195.137.73.51:8767. Chat to Shootthemoon about getting on teh same page, or to someone else about diplomacy, or to work to gether to coordinate an attack, I've created it to ease the diplomacy situation for RB.
(8:06:35 PM) Carthage: :Back and forth until baby agrees to naptime:: We think that 3 workers is acceptable but a timeline of 10 turns or less is a little on the unreasonable side. What about 1 of the roading workers next turn, then 1 more worker in 10 turns and 1 more worker 10 turns later?
(8:07:38 PM) Krill: so, those are the turns for gifting?
(8:08:56 PM) Carthage: then you would get 1/3 of the gift earlier than you wanted, and 1/3 later than you wanted. turns would be T63, T73, T83
(8:16:15 PM) Krill: would you consider moving back the first gift, and moving the others forward?
(8:17:28 PM) Carthage: Something like T68 (2 workers) T 78 third worker?
(8:17:47 PM) Krill: Something like that would be OK for me.
(8:18:00 PM) Krill: If that lets you get the sheep and horses on line as well
(8:18:07 PM) Krill: it should help you.
(8:18:15 PM) Krill: Maybe chop the granary before size 1
(8:18:38 PM) Carthage: I think that would be beneficial for both of us.
(8:18:59 PM) Krill: Well, I'm happy to go with the T68 (2workers) T78 third worker plan
(8:19:20 PM) Krill: Would you still be online for t70/t71ish Maths
(8:19:21 PM) Krill: ?
(8:19:41 PM) Carthage: Without looking at the game I believe so.
(8:20:33 PM) Carthage: We have enough infrastructure in place to focus on research and military at this point
(8:22:01 PM) Krill: Cool
(8:22:17 PM) Krill: I'm probably going to shove out a few WC and make sure I'm safe then grab a few extra cities,
(8:22:49 PM) Carthage: What direction was Lobo's land?
(8:23:31 PM) Krill: North
(8:23:42 PM) Krill: ME and him were pretty damned close
(8:24:05 PM) Carthage: well you eliminated him on T.. 11? You'd have to have been on top of each other
(8:24:20 PM) Krill: Yup
(8:24:50 PM) Krill: Luckily he sent out his warrior, or I wouldn;t be any where near Oracle, and I'd have spent alot more resources on killing him
(8:24:54 PM) Krill: He'd still be dead though
(8:25:53 PM) Carthage: lol Oh, Krill...
(8:29:12 PM) Carthage: Do you have a source of sheep? we were serious about the resource gift offer...
(8:29:21 PM) Krill: Yeah, I'm OK with sheep
(8:29:26 PM) Krill: all of my food is frigging sheep
(8:29:40 PM) Carthage: LOL. okay well at least we aren't the only ones.
(8:29:52 PM) Krill: Yeah
(8:29:58 PM) Krill: Our row got completely screwed
(8:30:22 PM) Krill: in the north (and south of us maybe?) they have lods of 6 yield tiles, ie pigs hills, irrigated wheat as the worst
(8:30:41 PM) Carthage: at least it isn't as bad as your pb1
(8:30:52 PM) Krill: Yeah
(8:30:54 PM) Krill: well
(8:31:02 PM) Krill: I still got hte sections of land with no food
(8:31:16 PM) Krill: I'm not sure about Sullla sometimes, if he is bad, or just plain lazy
(8:31:44 PM) Krill: because I like the map on the whole, same as PB1, but sections of it are just broken
(8:32:07 PM) Krill: Like PB1 could have had some amazing wars if players had built a navy
(8:32:23 PM) Krill: and used forts on the choke points to move armies 7, 8 tiles in enemy land
(8:33:17 PM) Krill: and then there is the land between Inca and Zulu with no food. Combined with Sulllas' comment about expansion being his prefered choice, I think he just didn;t pay attention to the land that he was creating.
Unknown command.
(8:33:27 PM) Krill: [/rant]
(8:33:37 PM) Carthage: that's alright, i had that coming when i opened that can of worms
(8:33:51 PM) Krill: sorry
(8:34:18 PM) Carthage: no, i haven't followed PB1 since around T100 and TBH, your rants were the best parts of it
(8:34:52 PM) Krill: Ah, I'll have to go and reread them someday.
(8:35:21 PM) Carthage: that and the lurker thread discussing them
(8:49:21 PM) Carthage: I'm glad we were able to get this all figured out. I have to go now... but have a good night and we'll keep in touch
(8:49:52 PM) Krill: Cool ,good night, if you want to send an email detailing the proposal that is great. I'll try to reply in 11 hours once I get up
(8:50:13 PM) Carthage: I will do that before my dinner time, around 4am GMT
(8:50:15 PM) Krill: And I hop the kid sleeps well for you
(8:50:21 PM) Krill: *hope
(8:50:24 PM) Carthage: thanks, she's usually a good napper

FWIW, I'm doing the typical n00b play of saving my chops for once maths is researched. I honestly can't believe that I've managed to to play this game in the most appalling fashion and still not be in the worst possible position stat wise...although my stats will be horrendous once I triple slave my capital...

From Carthage:
Quote:[BKrill,
Thanks for the chat earlier today (yesterday across the pond). Anytime you want to rant, I'm all ears - it really was entertaining for me. Anyway, onto the agreement... peer our conversation, we agree to the following:
Egypt gets:
*3 workers from Carthage. 2 to be delivered T68, 1 more to be delivered T78.
Will you have a unit available to escort the T68 workers?
*Rights to the northern corn city - exact location TBD but with no more than 2 tiles of overlap with the northern sheep city.
Carthage gets:
*Rights to the city site 1SE of the southern sheep
*Rights to the city site SW-W of the northern sheep to be settled after the corn city so as to avoid a culture war.
Again, thank you for the chat, and the techs this turn! And congrats on landing the Oracle. Geez, first you eliminate a close neighbor, then you master mind the CAN, then you land the Oracle. Not a bad start at all!
Until later,
Mr. Nice Guy for Team Nice Shot[/b]

I can't see anyone beating me to Monotheism inside the tech block.
India are saving gold for a possible spear upgrade
Portugal are broke
Aztecs aren't anywhere near me in GNP
Ottomans are on IW
HRE are on HBR
Carthage are on Maths
England are on Monarchy (still saving gold) and can't finish research as they don;t have enough gold, so I'll beat them and,
France don't have Polytheism.
So if I lose it, it should be to the CANT. I didn't see the point in pissing people off, when I was witholding the more critical tech of Alpha from some teams.

Got the city site that overlaps corn, plains hill sheep and furs :b: That will be city 4, I'll try to plant it asap after I settle the front city for horse and sheep (and burn another two premaths chops on getting a granary). Things are looking up...
Quote:(7:21:26 PM) Carthage: Hey

(7:21:56 PM) Krill: sorry for being around so late

(7:22:26 PM) Krill: luckily it wasn't my fault...
(7:22:42 PM) Carthage: I hope your alright
(7:22:50 PM) Krill: Fine atm
(7:23:03 PM) Carthage: that's good
(7:23:05 PM) Krill: so long as i don;t wake up in the morning and can't walk for some reason
(7:23:14 PM) Carthage:
(7:23:29 PM) Carthage: anyway, I've got to go shortly, so what's up?
(7:23:56 PM) Krill: OK, going to be brief for you
(7:24:15 PM) Krill: I think there might be a problem with some overlap between your northern sheep site and the proposed corn site
(7:24:23 PM) Krill: there are 2 plains hills I can plant on to grab the corn
(7:24:29 PM) Krill: 1 of them overlaps 2 tiles
(7:24:42 PM) Krill: one of them overlaps 4 tiles, the extra tiles being a plains hill and grass hill
(7:24:55 PM) Krill: if I plant the 2 overlap, I'm settling on a plains hill sheep
(7:25:03 PM) Krill: which obviously sucks
(7:25:05 PM) Carthage: yeah
(7:25:25 PM) Carthage: do you know if the two extra tiles would be in our first ring?
(7:25:33 PM) Krill: they would be outer ring
(7:25:56 PM) Carthage: so there wouldn't be any easy way to manipulate the culture system so that we get say 2 of the tiles
(7:26:22 PM) Krill: ah, wait
(7:26:36 PM) Krill: the plains hill would be in your inner tiles
(7:26:43 PM) Krill: the grass hill would be in both cities outer rings
(7:27:03 PM) Carthage: and I assume the other two are also in both outer rings?
(7:27:26 PM) Krill: one moment
(7:28:33 PM) Krill: http://i554.photobucket.com/albums/jj417...ot0317.jpg
(7:28:42 PM) Krill: that is the picture you sent me
(7:29:18 PM) Krill: the city Iwould want to plant that is not on the plains sheep would be 3W 2N of the tile you want to plant for your northern sheep city
(7:29:20 PM) Carthage: plains hill sheep is 2W of the corn I assume?
(7:29:28 PM) Krill: yeah
(7:29:36 PM) Krill: the other problem, is there are 2 furs tiles
(7:29:53 PM) Krill: W 2N and W 3N of the southern sheep
(7:30:14 PM) Carthage: I think you planting there would work alright
(7:30:29 PM) Carthage: we could get the plains hill tile in our first ring
(7:30:44 PM) Carthage: and the two grasshills N of it
(7:31:09 PM) Carthage: we would agree not to fight culturally to the west
(7:33:41 PM) Carthage: I have to go, but does that sound alright?
(7:33:53 PM) Krill: That sounds great
(7:34:02 PM) Krill: I should have Mono in 8, I'll chop out a missionary for you asap
