Gorgo Hilly Challenge

Hey everyone!

One of the more enjoyable games I play of Master of Orion was a starting position one player on this Forum encountered with the Meklars, it proved to be quite a fun, challenging game and I thought perhaps some of the players here might enjoy my Sunday morning game I encountered.

Difficulty is Emperor, Standard Map Size, Continents and the hilly bias of Greece shows in this game. This game has not been edited in any way. Gorgo is one of the less favourite leaders of mine as I think Pericles rather superior especially in the lategame.

I do remember Civ V saving one 4000 BC savegame, but I only managed to snatch a turn 10 savegame and some guys will rightly object to my second scout build, see it as an additional challenge.

Even the war challenged AI should be able to put up a bit of a fight in this terrain on this map.

I am well into turn 150 by this point and would love to see how others fare with this game.

I have downloaded save file and when tried to load, but load button was grayed out. However, then I have noticed in game description something like "smoother difficulty". I put in google and found that it is a mod for "lowering" game difficulty. After applying this mode game has loaded properly.

Here is the link for anyone who is interested to play this save.

Gorgo is my favorite leader, as she has the most valuable extra policy card (wildcard) and also early culture accumulation from combat is so superior, when you exploit it to your advantage (eg. milking barbarian camps, early war, etc.). Also, in my opinion hills are such superior to flat land, in my games I rarely work farms, only if no other option or I´m pushing towards housing cap - if enough hills, food growth is enough to feed them and produciton is that much better.

Yeah, I screwed up there. Smoother difficulty boosts the AI over the time whilst it does away with the 2nd settler.

Hope you enjoy the game. Hills are good for production, but maneuvrebility and food is an issue.

Hope you enjoy this helpful Leanbean review and the game. Hills are good for production, but maneuvrebility and food is an issue.

Too difficult for me but I had a lot of fun trying.
