What's the cheapest deck crafting-wise? It feels like every time I try and look up a semi-good deck, it uses 2-3 legendaries, and I only have Ruunin, so I'm having trouble finding a colour that doesn't rely on rare cards.

Well, I can recommend the U/G deck I posted about earlier. Apart from Gabrian Enchantress and Spellwhirl, all the cards you need are commons (although try to craft Frogify when you can afford it, too, for the reason Adrien discovered above -- it's removal that also negates effects, that is, a match-winner due to how many creatures it answers; only the UUU terrain cost is restrictive), and you can substitute e.g. Triton Warrior for Spellwhirl if you're pressed for crystals. Only the enchantress slots are not negotiable. You might even find a use for Ruunin in there (I lack the card and cannot say how good she is).

Did you finish the solo missions that don't require you to use points to unlock ? That got me enough chests to get a few legendaries.
There's a small 1/1 green card that makes you draw a random green card upon its death. It's pretty good as a harvester that you'll suicide early. That's how I discovered Ruunin (I don't have the card but you often get great cards with that power)

You mean Volcanic Colossus?
I don't think its cost can be reduced fast enough to consider it tbh. The fact that I haven't seen it in any competitive decks also doesn't make me hopeful. Eventually someone might find a way to break it of course, but I don't see it for now. I would be more interested in Barbarian Ogre or the what's-its-name 6/9 taunt. But trying to outsize green seems to be a losing proposition
I think trying to be fast and go under green monsters may be the best strategy. Watching luuu90's games from the latest monthly cup, it was interesting to see how he used rush opening with mono-R when he knew he was again RG Crackthorn, went to grab an Axe Grinder spot as quickly as possible, and won from there. Never thought about doing this - red is supposed to be on the midrange leaning control part of the spectre because of its efficient AOE. But against green, that AOE is much less efficient. On the other hand, red has means to be aggressive in the match-up - between Gift of Steel and burn, it has ways to get rid of the first few green monsters and push through damage. Green lacks removal as well - if it doesn't have board presence, it can't clear Gifted creatures, even Groundshaker in an aggressive position can be a problem

I wonder if there's a RU deck which takes advantage of U's mobility and R's AOE? So far green seems to be to most popular colour to pair with red (Crackthorn Beast is a beast), but mono-G still beats that

Mono-blue only uses 1 legendary and 1 epic, and I don't think either is essential. Quite hard to play though - I just can't win with it, even in solo missions
Green rush has no legendaries, but 6 epics. Depends if you already opened any of them, and how much dust memoria you have, but could be viable
As AdrienIer said, make sure you complete solo missions first, as they give out packs battle chests quite generously

Damn, I only have 100 memoria, and after doing the math it would take me 620 to afford green rush with everything (or 200 without any of the epics), and mono-blue is 335 without the legendary + epic (which boost it to 735). Guess I better start getting lucky with packs. Thanks for the advice though, and yeah adrienIer, I do have that card and am almost done with the solo missions too.

In other news, I just had a Spellwhirl give me 2 Sturdy Shells. Yes game, that's exactly what I need to clear the board, thank you, very useful.

Do you have aurora's disciple ? I built my blue deck around them + useful spells (humbling vision, gabrian enchantment, hold the line and spellwhirl) at first. Add to that a couple creatures that can fight and maybe some gatherers (I use the ruby fish) and you're good to go.

It feels like half the people I play against have Magda in their deck. It also feels like I lose all my games against such people, and tend to win the others. Which is not surprising considering how good she is

Is she? She does require a quick answer, but a 4 mana 0/3 is not that hard to answer. Or is it?
