Shoot the Moon Wrote:Ok, so I think we are generally in agreeance that as long as we can negotiate favorable borders to accommodate our essentially being boxed in by CAN members, we would be open to the idea of Babylon and Mali joining. Perhaps we tell Krill that we are fine with Babylon joining, and would be open to Swiss joining contingent on successful border negotiations. Do we mention to Krill that we would be looking for favorable borders because we are boxed in? On the one hand, if he were to happen to mention it to Swiss, that could give us the leg up on the border negotiations, but I could also see that backfiring, either in our relations with Krill or if Krill words it badly to Swiss. Hmmm...
By the way, now that we have contact with India, we should send in our cartel map screenshots. That cartel map could help a ton in understanding these border negotiations and the global-politics stuff that is starting to crop up.
Okay. I will take updated screenshots and send them to India, and also draft a letter to Krill and a letter to Swiss... at the usual time.

Easiest stuff first:
To CHASM Wrote:CHASM,
As you must be aware by now, there is talk of excluding France from CAN in favor of Mali and Babylon. Krill made the argument to us, and it was a good argument. So good, that we are considering accepting this decision. However, because your team would gain land in the east to expand into, and ours would lose land in the south, we would like to re-open discussions on the southern valley between London and Carthage, with the hope that we can get an agreement in place that would even the playing field a bit. Will you be around for another productive chat in the next 24 hours?
Any changes to suggest, let me know. I won't send any of tonight's diplomacy until I have gotten your input...

And to Krill:
Quote:Krill,
Firstly, and to confirm what Shoot the Moon said earlier.. we say "can trade maths T70" in the sense that when we log in on T70, we will gift maths to all CAN members that we can.
After internal discussions, we have decided that the benefits of bringing Mali and Babylon on board outweigh any potential downfall, and think it would be a good idea for all involved to have them in the CAN. We take it from your note that this means Babylon will research Currency, so we will research Construction after Maths, and will give you an ETA when it is appropriate.
Until later,
I think you are right - best keep Krill out of the border negotiations. We already have negotiated all that we need to with him, so let's keep the negotiating to working with Swiss...

First, in regards to Chasm: I think it may be better to just ask for the chat and not go into the why quite yet. I just feel like when they read the email, they are immediately going to jump to "they want more land" whereas we could potentially approach it better in a chat. That's my take at least.

I'm wondering if there would be anyway we could indicate to Krill about the border negotiations without him having to get involved in them. Perhaps just say something like "we have decided that bringing in Mali and Babylon would be fine with us, assuming that border negotiations go smoothly with Mali (and we see no reason why they wouldn't)." I don't know, what do you think of something like that where we mention it but don't make it seem contingent or significant?
The worst case scenario I think would be that Mali joins, gets gifted techs, only for our border negotiations to go sour.

We have a bit of a problem in game:
My gut says we should attack. I think we need to try to keep that goldmine, and 41% odds isn't terrible, especially considering we have a warrior right there. If we win, remember to micro the city to work the gold mine again.

Man, my router chose the wrong time to go out on me, just as we were having an exciting moment. Oh well, ugly as it is, wired internet is more stable until I find a better router.
I agree with your take on the diplomacy notes, but I don't have enough time to edit and send until after work tonight - 8pm. The good news is that Josh won the battle of the gold hill. He only survived with .2/2 health, so it sure is good that we had a spare warrior in the area had the RNG gone the other way. I also moved Cassandra out of St. Paul.. hopefully that will lure the barb warrior in the area into a forest hill battle which we will certainly win, rather than potentially having to fight the warrior on our horse or risk losing the horse.
After the action and snapping an up to date screen shot for the map, I ended turn. I will send all of the diplomacy this evening.

Glad to see you back I would have taken the initiative myself normally, but this was the earliest I could check the forums today and considering it is only 45 minutes till 8, I'll wait for us to discuss it.
Good news with Cassandra. Did you remember to have us work the gold?

By the way, it might be good to send an email out to all of the CAN (well, all that we have contact with) letting them know Math will be done next turn and that they should request it from us or if we log on first we will offer it.
