RB PBEM #2 - Justinian (SPOILERS!)

t30 - Agriculture comes in, on to Preisthood - due in 3t.

Switch Constantinople to a Warrior as planned.

I remember to move the SW fogbusting Warrior back towards the new city site to guard the Settler, however realise that I've left it a turn late to get there in time. Instead I'll head him back to MP in Const, and head the current MP Warrior over there instead.

Scout heads further into SL's land - I'll post a screenie when I've uncovered something of interest.

t31 - a quick morning turn ... maybe we'll get in more than one today!?

Western Worker continues the road to Green/Yellow, while Eastern Worker starts a 5t chop/mine on the grass hill NE of Const.

Warriors continue to move to their assigned spots, and the Scout continues to explore SL's land - uncovering the capital and a newly-completed Workboat (likely destined for the Clams which I think can be worked by both cities:

I remember not to forget to switch Const back to the Settler! smile

Looks like I've just just made a silly mistake of my own by ending turn on the Mine. He's probably only lost a single hammer though as there are a pair of Plains Forests the city can work.
Quote:Hey Dreylin,

No biggie but please don't leave your scout on improved tiles... I can't work them then! At least it wasn't the pigs!

Cheers,
Sitting Bull of the Native Americans
Quote:SL,

Oops, my turn to apologise; I hope it didn't throw your plans off! I guess I should have just held off scouting past you until after writing.

My plan for this turn is for the Scout to move across the Pigs and end up on the forest NW of them, which is outside the BFC, I hope that's OK.

t33 - Priesthood - Animal Husbandry (due in 4t)

Warrior reaches Green Dot and sets up shop to wait for the Settler; Worker starts to road the Cows.

Settler at 61/65 and set to overflow ~10h into the Oracle ... unless I go ahead and send a single pop whip into the overflow bucket. Now I'm getting 24h overflow into the Oracle.

Work the Fish & 2Clams, since the hammer doubling will be undone for the overflow and I get 2c extra from the Clams.

Hmmmm, looks from the EPs (112/100) like SL has met someone and forgotten to let me know ... I'll send him a beep.

My first message to SL:
Quote:Hey SL,

Did you perhaps stumble across someone recently? I notice your EPs have been stationary towards me for a few turns now....

Dreylinian I.

Quote:HI Dreylinian I,

Sorry - my bad - it was indeed the ep numbers that led me to believe that.

Perhaps Sitting Bull had been on his pipe a little long last night!

I'll be sure to do the same in return should I meet anyone.

Cheers,
Sitting Bull
With just a reminder that he had promised to let me know if/when he ran into someone else.
Quote:Hi Dreylinian I,

I have bumped into someone - I am more than happy to direct you to Japanese lands although for now, you will require a boat to navigate out to my west past the end of our island.

I would be happy to grant you access through my lands when the time arises.

The Japanese don't appear to have any scout boats out (I guess the war put pay to that) so I cannot direct them to you.

Cheers,
Sitting Bull of the Native Americans
Hmmmm, Ruff & Yaz out to the West ... that means Krill & Darrell are likely out East.
Quote:Sitting Bull,

So you've met the warmonger; I guess that's good news for me that he's a little way off incase he gets frisky off-island! OTOH, that probably means that Krill's lurking over to my East! 8-/

But it's good to know that if necessary I might be able to trade with him through you.

Dreylinian I.
e.g. if Ruff has a "no-trade" deal with SL for, say Maths, and I have an equivalent one for Monarchy, then we can ask SL to act as an intermediary and pss both techs across as if we'd traded directly ... for a small commission, I'm sure.

Oh, and a quick note from SL in reply to my Scouting apology:
Quote:Don't worry - no major harm done!

Worldview musings:
Quote:Hey Dreylinian,

I believe the make up of the world is something like: Me - You - Krill - Darrell - Yaz - Ruff.

Krill to the east of us and Ruff to the west.. urgh!

Cheers,
Sitting Bull of the Native Americans
Quote:Urgh indeed! That world layout is definitely a good argument for close cooperation between the two of us....

t34 - Settler on the move. Worker finishes the Road, and Settler lands on the forest at Green Dot.

Oracle dialed up with 24h overflow. Govenor wants to work Fish & both Clams, but I switch to work the Mine - bringing the completion to (only) 19t, but still getting growth in 2t. The second Mine will complete next turn (with a chop) and be ready to work.

Scout leaves SL's territory; stumbling across his Copper & dual Wines:

t35 - Settle Thessalonica on Green Dot and starts working the shared Clams. Not a lot of build choices at the moment so I dial up a Workboat; it can either be used for exploration or to settle a seafood resource at a later city.

Eastern Worker finishes the Mine spitting 13h into the Oracle - down to 15t working one Mine. Western Worker, having finished the road connection, moves onto the plains hill SSW of Constantinople to add another Mine.

Scout mounts the hill and meets a Lion injured to 0.6/2 ... he should survive OK. Also it looks like he's reached the end of the landmass already (I'll post a picture next turn when it's confirmed.

With a second city founded my costs have shot up to 1gpt, and with no reserves I'll have to drop research down this turn. Due to rounding errors, Binary research is the most efficient option generally, however when an even amount of commerce is being generated there is also a 50/50 option. 18c coming in, so if I run at 50/50 I send 9c each way I'll get 9b at +8g this turn and then I can dial back up to 100% and get AH in 2t.

Communique from SL about Open Borders:
Quote:Hi Dreylinian I,

I will have completed writing in 2 turns from now - would you be interested in entering into open borders with me? I have a warrior on his way to your lands, currently south of the copper, please do not fear, he is merely defogging a route to you for trade routes in the future.

Cheers,
Sitting Bull of the Native Americans
Quote:Hey Sitting Bull,

Yep, OB is good with me and will make things a lot easier for my Scout on his way back ... assuming he survives the Lion!

Regards,

Dreylinian I.
Quote:Great,

I'll offer in game when possible. That lion killed my initial warrior at silly odds... Give him rocks!
