So appart from losing a 99.1% battle taking the last city was pretty easy once the cannons arrived. I'm now first in score (although I'm far behind in tech). The only good tech I have is railroads : my plan is to put machine guns all over until I can field an acceptable army

I should translate here what I truly meant in the tech thread : this morning I was wondering why Pickle had beelined flight, and was asking myself if he was beelining nukes (as it's a common ban). I couldn't find trace of nukes being banned, so I asked whether we should ban them. I don't want to use the question to know if Pickle is beelining them, so I inserted a likely excuse for him if he is (that it's too late in the game to ban them). If he isn't beelining nukes he'll just give his opinion on whether he wants them banned or not, and if he is he'll just say that it's too late in the game for that.
The only possible side effect is that if Pickle is beelining nukes I just warned Dreylin of the possibility. That would be unfortunate, but we do need to decide that issue.
Today was a sad day : I had to research astrology in order to start researching physics (plan is physics -> artillery -> flight -> rocketry -> electricity -> industrialism -> roll on everyone with tanks). But astrology means obsoleting the colossus, which is going to lower my research rate noticeably. Too bad.
So quick update : I just finished researching artillery (I'll build a crapton of them now), as well as finishing West point and Wall street. I'm starting on the pentagon now. After building factories everywhere I'm now going to start building an army.

Here are pictures of my empire. Some cities have power some don't, all who aren't building factories have them already (except maybe one or two).
 Here you can see what an anti tank does. Its basic stats are 14 str +100% vs armor and with ambush for another +25%. It also has 20% interception chance. So it's both anti tank and anti air, with possibility for specialization : combat 2 makes it better against tanks, interception 2 gives it 50% interception chance which is much better. Also anti tank cost 80, same as cavalry, while tanks cost 120.     My army in the north (last pick) is rather small, a few cataphracts and cannons, nothing like what's waiting in the southwest. Among the techs, here's where I stand. I'm missing divine right, lib and democracy from the older techs.   The plateau in my power ranking is the period where I was building factories (and health buildings to avoid starving too much). The cities with enough health got coal plants too.   Here's Pickle's territory. He's small and probably can't win now, but his cities are all heavily guarded. He has the statue of liberty in Himalayan which is a big prize.   He's been at war with Dreylin for a while (that's why he's so small after losing half his territory to him) but the war has stalled. Overall, since the end of the steampunk era as you call it, there was a race to assembly line that was inconsequential due to all of us getting it almost at the same time, then a race for industrialism and tanks. I made a mistake and researched flight (that they both had researched before me), so Dreylin got there a turn or two ago and I'll get it in 3t. On the other hand I'm the only one with artillery which I think is a really big deal. My analysis of the game at this point is that Dreylin and I have an even chance at winning. He has more cities but many of them are fillers with very little food. He has a larger army but I have more production due to having heroic epic + a military academy + two cores to his one + (I think) more factories/power. He has pentagon which was a nice steal. Any specific questions ? |
