[SPOILERS] JR4 tries his luck in PB 37

Even after a pair of three-pop whips, we're killing the average in every category. That's partly because of Ventessel and Yuri dragging the average down, but our overall position overtime has been very good, and with our continuing expansion it should keep improving.

I agree with getting a worker (and something to defend it - does GJ's horse tile show a hammer in the yield yet?) down to Oghul Qaimish's forest, though it looks to me like all our workers have been steadily moving away from it lately. Still, we could one-turn a Worker out of Borte next turn if we want to (thanks to overflow from the Settler) so the real question is how we'd protect it.

Note there'll be a similar challenge getting Chubei's northern forests chopped....

TURN 82

We got a second turn today! The chariot out W discovered more strong food tiles. It looks like this map has a lot of it. A city on the plains hill would be just awesome, dominating the entire area. Something to think about for sure. Should we let the chariot stay on the island and wait for an axe/settler or archer/settler pair? Again, it`s very risky, but if we can get away with it we`ll surely claim a lot of the contested lands between us and our neighbor. Still no signs of foreign galleys which is a good sign, though it can`t be long now...

The chariot on the Kokejin island discovered two more food sources as well. Wow. Maybe a second galley in Muqa is a good idea after all. (I think we should build it immediately after the worker is done).

Toregene whipped out the settler with 100/100 hammers. I think it`s going to settle the corn/pigs site on turn 85. I started an archer in Oghul Qaimish to act as protection for the worker that`ll chop down the forest in the SW. I don`t know how much military we need to keep our worker safe in MP civ. Btw, Joey`s horse tile shows 2/1/0. Borte is 1 turning  a worker and will grow after that.

The worker N of Borte went to the plains hill right W of our soon-to-be 8th city. It`ll build a road on turns 83 and 84 and is ready to start a farm on the wet corn on turn 85. (I forgot to take a screenshot of the area).

Graphs and demos: Our demos look a bit worse now (but we`re still above average, as you noticed). We`ve multi pop whipped 3 cities the last two turns. We`re set to grow very quickly in the next 10 turns. I`ll make a bold statement: We`re going to have the highest crop yield  on turn 90! As long as nothing unforeseen happens that is.

An archer on flat ground (as it would be when the chop is complete) won't deter anything; an archer in a city on a hill would be effective though, so we could temporarily move the spear to cover the worker once we have an archer in place. It would be vulnerable to a Phallanx of course, but we'd see it coming, as GJ is unlikely to commit two workers (to insta-road) a Phallanx moving out of position, and further antangonizing us just to kill a spear and kill/steal a single Worker.

(The horse tile's yield means that GJ will be able to build chariots soon if he can't do so already, so anything other than a spear risks being hit out of the fog).

I would recommend a barracks before the archer in Oghul Qaimish, maybe letting Borte grow on Archers instead, but I don't know what the timing looks like there, so it might not be feasible.

Wow - I just noticed I'm practically 24 hours late responding to this! Yeek! I somehow just didn't see it until now (I've been kind of swamped of late; sorry!) I love your bold prediction, and it would be great if it comes true! And with the monastery building in Chubei, hopefully we'll get our religion starting to finally spread around the empire (even if we have to do it the slower, expensive way) too!

Er, also: Is Nambui now working the plains cow? (Doesn't look that way in the picture, but it might have been changed subsequently.) I think that doing so starting from this turn was necessary to get the Monument and Granary out ASAP (and it doesn't delay the city's growth).

I played the turn yesterday just before going to bed. Good catch about working the wrong cow! It`s now been adjusted so that we`ll get the vital infrastructure up and running asap.

Building a Barracks in Oghul Qaimish makes a lot of sense as we want it to build a lot of units. The culture is helpful as well of course. Borte can easily grow on archers (at least 2, I think). We probably need a military unit in the pigs/wheat city so the first archer should probably go up there. Dtay could ferry in a unit to attempt an attack but I don`t think he will. The second archer could go down to Oghul Qaimish. I agree with letting the spear join the worker in order to chop down that forest.

The worker NE of Borte can finish a cottage next turn and then move toward our T85 city with double food and then immediately join the other worker in improving the corn.

Finally, Joey still hasn`t connected his horse. That`s late.

Looks great! I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the coming turns (as usual)! The question of whether to get a Galley in Muqa next is a good one. Those 50h could be two promotable archers, nearly all of a Lighthouse, or more than half of a library, but if one galley isn't enough to handle the logistics for our island cities on that part of the sea, it might well be worthwhile. If we just need it for exploration purposes, I'd suggest a Workboat (which can later net seafood somewhere) instead. On the other hand, workboats can't fight and can't carry reinforcements to a city being threatened by sea (nor troops to attack somebody else's defenseless city, nor an empty cargo hold that might have troops to dissuade a forward island plant) so if the plan is to project more power into the ocean there, I can definitely see the argument in favor.

In barely-related news, I'm way behind on the story of the Khatunate here, but hoping to start catching up in the not-excessively-distant future! (AND I haven't forgotten Mardoc's question from ages ago about Impis and why I think their penalty against Archers isn't the right nerf for the job, though it isn't really relevant to this game; I'm slow at times, but I do plan to get to these things!)

I still like building a third galley in Muqa to ensure that we get a good share of the disputed land. If we somehow can get a city E of Kokejin (I don`t think we will) it`ll make sure that an attack especially on Muqa and Kokejin by sea would be very hard to make before galleons. I`m so glad that we managed to get a city N of Muqa to make it back line instead of a front city. Losing Chubei won`t wreck our game while losing Muqa almost certainly will.

Makes sense to me. If you think another galley is needed to give us control over those islands, then go for it!
