Dark Savant of Ethiopia

Northern neighbor: Gavagai
Southern neighbor: Couer/Bacchus

I made this map shot a bit smaller in scale to fit in that patch of squares at the bottom of this stretched out empire.  That’s the city of Regna -- which was planted far away from home to capture a resource rich island city near our shores.

Ethiopia also won the +1 naval benefit, which will give him an advantage in settling the islands and defending his shores.  His Expansive trait will pump out Workboats faster, but his Aggressive trait could fill his buffed Galleys with hostile trained units and get them to our shores quickly if I am not vigilant.   Remember, he is already Fish/Fish with Joey.

Couer/Bacchus of Carthage

Northern neighbor: Dark Savant
Southern neighbor: Yuri

Like Gavagai, this team looks to have already won some southern gains but at Yuri’s expense.  And with CHA / IMP combo, look for them to quickly build Settlers for sea gains while remaining quite formidable on land.

Right now, I expect Couer to dominate the western seas against Joey and make some kind of small play for our islands (to their east) as well.  I am hoping they don’t get too aggressive settling my way, because they are the first civ I’ve met that I would consider for a long term friendship based on their location.  And I am pretty much annoyed with everyone else so far lol

Last one for tonight….

Yuri of Russia

Northern neighbor: Couer/Bacchus
Southern neighbor: dtay

Yuri’s is the civ whose situation mostly resembles ours.  There are only 4 cities showing, and based on his CivStats score, there are likely few others.  Stonehenge resides in the second city from the west (or north).

His Russians are led by Adrien’s / my old PB25 buddy Bismarck, but the EXP/IND combo is the most passive in this game.  Pair that with Russian uniques that come far too late for someone in this position, and I see a civ that may not outlast even us.

I posted this pic in a way that would also show the islands available between us.  Boating their city of Seattle (another one with 6+ resources) is one of my looooooong-term objectives, as there is so much to do before I could even consider it.

dtay of Zulu

Northern neighbor: Yuri
Southern neighbor: JR4

Dtay looks to be in a strong position, already competitive for his eastern islands and totally uncontested so far in the west (that’s Krill and I mostly).  Add to that Yuri’s relatively weak position and the Zulu may have room to roam for awhile if peaceful relations with JR4 continue.

Oh and then there’s this:

If only we were in a better position, we’d have a shot a boating this town before Astro -- it's only 6 Galley moves away (from a site we haven't built yet lol ).  Or would have been able to build the Colossus ourselves!
