As requested, here is the F1 screen (+ our three most important cities). The second F1 screenshot was for Mandukhai exclusively. It seems that it shows 17 cities.
The Jewish Missionary could indeed go to Borte. You`re probably right that it`s a little expensive paying 40 hammers for a religion spread in Muqa which we`re not certain to get. Toregene needs a Buddhist spread now so that it can start a Forge. It`s a bit strange that we`ve just delayed that for a very long time, but I feel like there has always been a better use of the Missionaries.
Bayan Khutugh is up against a monster 5 food city of Dark Savant`s but he doesn`t have that many cultural buildings available yet. I hope that you`re right that we can keep hold of the seafood!
Babukhan kept its Courthouse build. I really think it`s better to build that first. We need to cut our expenses (and to make more EP).
Hrrrm. At a glance, I was wrong about Nambui: If it whips the forge ASAP, it would be a 4 pop whip. I still think that's worthwhile since it grows so quickly, but I can see an argument for going Market first.
And thinking about it more, agh, I think I was just wrong, and it's better to go Market first (at Nambui, because of its happiness and Moai tile situation). I apologize for my miscalculation! If we do start with the forge, it might be worthwhile to wait and let the place have an unhappy face for a turn before whipping it. I'll look into that shortly, and think about the caste question. Thanks for the screenshots!
Okay, yeah. So I'd definitely suggest switching back to a Market at Nambui if we can do that before the turn rolls. If we can't then we have to compare the value of a 4-pop Forge whip to the value of working four tiles (including the angry citizen) totaling 8f/4h/5c (or 9f/3h/6c if we work the ivory after whipping). Since the need for the forge is by no means urgent, the tiles win out. If we work our current tiles T124 (plus the unhappy face of course) then we could 3-whip the forge on T125, at which point I think it is worth doing.
Also, you had asked about whether the forge multiplier shows up in the demos. I didn't actually remember, so I tested it, and the answer is: Yes! The demo screen and MfG graph both include the forge bonus.
The caste question amounts to: How (and on what turn) can we get the most out of the switch? That's a complex enough question that I'll have to save it for tomorrow at least.... Have a great day!
I just got home now and it turns out that.. it was too late for the Market switch in Nambui. It shouldn`t be a big deal as we definitely want a Forge there soon. It`s good to know that the Forge hammers will be reflected in the demos. Most players have probably avoided Metal Casting until now as the big Colossus prize is gone. Having a single unhappy citizen for a turn is okay. Let`s whip out the Forge next turn. Nambui is a bit behind on infrastructure. Once we get a Forge/Market/Courthouse built there, it`s going to be a very important contributor to our Empire. (Well, it sort of is already, but even more so after getting those buildings).
Our 19th city, Shkodai, was settled this turn! It borrowed the banana from Chubei. The work boat will net the clams next turn. The Archer is a turn behind so the Keshik will act as MP for this turn. Muqa got those 20 hammers from the chop which certainly is helpful in getting the Forge done.
Kokejin switched to a Forge. We have the option of whipping out that Trireme if something were to happen on the eastern sea. Oljei Baaji will get a Buddhist spread next turn (if the rng doesn`t decide otherwise). It`s waiting for the spread to whip out the Monument. Bayan Khutugh is waiting for the overflow hammers to arrive and could be whipped next turn.
Annoyingly, we`re losing ground in the cultural battle with Joey. It`s 50-49 to us now.. Oghul Qaimish switched to a Temple as we can ill afford to lose those lake tiles. Danashri whipped out a work boat and can put the overflow into a Lighthouse. D-mishi whipped the Library and could perhaps train a Missionary for Empress Gi. The two NW cities still haven`t gotten any religion spreads.
At last, Joey`s Golden Age came to an end! Also, I forgot to mention a couple of Great Artists that have been born. Krill got the Music Artist (most likely) and Joey got an Artist as well. (I think it was last turn). Could he somehow have settled it in State of Zijin to make sure he gets control of those vital tiles?
Graphs and demos: As dtay and Joey`s Golden Age came to an end, it`s a bit easier to compare the demos. It`s looking better now than a few turns ago! We`re only far away from dtay`s crop yield now. Our mfg is highly competitive. Gavagai`s workers are building a workshop on his gold island so he`s definitely got Metal Casting now.
We shouldn`t wait too long with that Caste swap. Oghul Qaimish would certainly appreciate the option of hiring a ton of Artists (as long as we don`t care about getting a Scientist). We can whip out two more Courthouses next turn so there aren`t that many builds that we need to whip out right away. Would it be beneficial for us to swap to Caste e.g already on t126/127?
Also, as we`re putting a massive 10 EP on dtay every turn, we`re about to match the 166 needed for research visibility (we have 160 invested now). It`s surely an extra turn because those mechanics are weird but I`m looking forward to getting more information and switching EP spending over to Joey.
I`m afraid something terrible happened this turn. According to Civstats, Gavagai just razed one of our cities. Remind me to defend our island cities a bit better from now on.. We lost 5 points, is that a 2 pop city? Babukhan would be a lot more. I hope it`s not Empress Gi. It had two good defenders so he would need a few units to take that. Losing the filler city in between Empress Gi and Babukhan is no big deal here. It was very lightly defended after all. There weren`t any Ottoman Galleys visible when I played the turn but he could easily have hidden one just out of sight. If Babukhan is under siege we might be in a world of trouble here. Also, we have the first half of the timer. I`ll have to wait until tomorrow to check out what happened.
We probably should delay the Caste project a bit to stabilize the situation. Seriously, I did not see that coming. Why would Gavagai weaken us, the one civ that keeps dtay and Joey in check? Maybe he`s gunning for all of our island cities. Oh well, that`s 123 turns without any combat at all (with other players). I guess it`s time for us to fight!
Ouch. This is a map for keeping players on their toes - not that you needed that with Joey and D'tay as neighbours. Sounds like you're keeping admirably calm.
It may have looked easy, but that is because it was done correctly - Brian Moore
