That's an intriguing new Covert Option, but aha! there's the recruit Engineer option! However with the Assassin's recent success against us I very nearly go with this option:
It's a good team - with Fenn in the Infirmary, Dragunova's bond remains unused - however then I remember they've just come back from a mission and it might not be the best idea to send them out again immediately:
So it's back to recruit an Engineer:
Welcome new Squaddies Khan and Kaiser (Ranger & Grenadier, respectively).
Also while I was toying with the Chosen Mission I purchased the Rifle & Blade upgrades (can't upgrade the Shotgun because Engineers).
While we're at it, let's meet the new gal:
I'm not entirely sure what's going on here, but I think it will become clearer once we get her on a mission.
Oh, and with the Templar Base appearing I finally twig:

The Chosen booster looks like it may be a worthwhile investment when the time comes, but for now I just clear out some $$-boosted corpses. And since Supplies are still plentiful, the next task is to put a relay in:
The Africa bonus is an extra Weapon upgrade slot, which really won't be much use until we pick up more upgrades!

I've
chosen selected the Black Market discount card for this month since I plan to make at least one purchase and the mission timers haven't been bothering me yet.
The Proving Ground completes and I start excavating a second-level space:
Looks like the Lost Towers mission won't be part of the integrated DLC (& I need a second Engineer to build a SPARK). I start the Skulljack for lack of noticably better options.
Finally we get a mission notification and it's from our friends the Skirmishers:
Another Engineer is welcome; there's lots of digging & building to do!
