Subject: NAP
Quote:Greetings HRE
We would like to propose a NAP to build trust and bring our nations closer, since we are allies.
A Prosal for a NAP between our gloroius nations
1. NAP till t100 inclusive of t100.
2. No RoP for enemy units
3. No gifting of units someone who is planning or is at war with either of us.
4. No sharing of map information, or any other sort of information like graphs etc or plannning details with others
Please indicate you agreement or any proposed changes.
Regards
KM

Thank you for your message. Your proposal will be discussed by DIM's ruling junta.
We'll get back to you as soon as we can.

Ilios - DIM
I was thinking of asking them for screenshots of the lands between HRE and France, and demanding we discuss settling rights before moving over to an NAP discussion. We obviously need to stall commiting to anything until T75. Thoughts?

Wow, lots to do diplomatically. First, definitely stall France. We don't want to commit to anything with them. Waiting a bit, then responding about settling rights will be a great way to make sure that it takes awhile to nail down any potential nap. Just so long as we don't actually promise a NAP once the agreement is made. My ethical boundaries are that it's okay to drag it out on purpose before war so long as we dont' actually promise them a NAP once the decisions are finalized.
Regarding England, it would be nice to see more map. I don't like making an agreement that is contigent on a successful war against France. Obviously, I do hope that it goes well, but I wouldn't say trading a sure thing for a probably thing is a good deal at this moment. Once they actually have it and could give it to us, then it's a lot better potential deal. Also, the sheep site is obviously close to us and, to be frank, I don't want to give it up. We can bargain but I'm not sure we should cede it right away without debate.

france: yeah, throwing the settling agreement in the mix is the way to go. they'd mentioned way back when that the lands between us were poor so let's have them show us just how poor they are before we "commit to a NAP"
england: we need full map info of our lands before jumping in with both feet. kind of goes hand in hand with france, if they give us map info we can determine whether it makes sense for us to keep lyons, and whether there's enough land for us to settle to make losing the sheep site palatable.

Ok I'll write a draft to France asking for screenshots. I'll let England know we need more map info before we can accept them settling the sheep spot.
Do you guys agree with the NAP conditions?
Quote:So, here's our NAP proposal:
Auto-renewing NAP with a 10t cooldown. The earliest it could be canceled is T100. So, a cancellation on turn X would allow either side to declare war on turn X+10.
No ROP for armies either at war with either civ. Both sides agree to use good faith judgment on "Why are these 10 HAs moving through my territory towards the other side?"
43EP limit.
No scouting restrictions. We'll try to send a unit to defog to SN so we can get trade routes with your cities.
I'm not too excited about the 10t cooldown, but I can live with the NAP till T100 and the other terms.
Here's a message from Maya, which Krill has auto-forwarded to us:
Quote:Krill/Egypt is kindly forwarding this since we haven't met yet in game - hopefully we'll do so soon! For meeting coordination, we currently have a scouting unit south of the Carthage/England borderlands and another along the southeast borders of Egypt.
So, you may have noticed that we made peace with India. We're actually on pretty good terms with them for a couple of civs who've been at war almost since meeting. Thanks in part to their new land acquisitions in Sumeria, we're also teching a lot better than them though, so we've worked out a deal whereby we'll take over researching Metal Casting to get the ETA down to something you'll probably find a lot more attractive, while they work on an alternative (most likely in the direction of Aesthetics+Lit). We'll of course want to make the same kinds of deals with you that you've got with them - trading the fruits of our research for yours and establishing a NAP (including forbidding us to attack each other at second hand via gifted units, etc.)
That's the general outline. We can talk specifics when we both have time (it's after 1AM for me right now) either by e-mail or via google chat. If you're interested in setting up other deals and plans as well, let us know; we're always open to creative suggestions.

I'll just send them instructions to meet us over at Singa, because I don't want to do all our correspondence via Krill's computer...

Here's a message from Ruff. That way you guys can see what everyone is researching.
Quote:Hi All,
Please forward to others in CAN that I don't know yet.
HRE filled me in on the tech position ...
Babylon - Currency
Mali - Calendar
Maya - Metal Casting
India - Aesthetics
England - Monarchy
Carthage - Construction
HRE - Code of Laws
Krill - unknown
Ottomans - undecided
Aztec - saving coin
Portugal - saving coin?
As you know, I was stifled a little due to the Inca incursion. However, I should have my civ back up and running pretty well shortly. As such, I would like to contribute TECH to CAN.
I want to put down a place holder for Literature. Be sure to have your level 4 unit ready for when I can trade it. I'll give you an ETA at a later date.

Turn 72 (re-)played.
For some reason, the barb warrior near Singa decided to suidide against our warrior I moved out of the city on the forest. Last time I played T72, the barb had avoided Khan and moved to Singa's NW.
Well I'm not complaining, because this means we can finish the chop into the monument, and with the overflow we'll finish the granary on T75.
This is the micro for Singa:
T72 - Monument (50/30) - Singa (20/22) - Size 1 (2/1/1-4/1/0)
T73 - Granary (44/60) - Singa (2/24) - Size 2 (2/1/1-4/1/0-2/3/2)
T74 - Granary (54/60) - Singa (6/24)
T75 - Spearman (2/35) - Singa (10/24) - (2/1/1-4/1/0-4/0/1)
T76 - Spearman (4/35) - Singa (16/24)
T77 - Spearman (6/35) - Singa (22/24)
T78 - Spearman (8/35) - Singa (16/26) - Size 3 (2/1/1-4/1/0-4/0/1-2/3/2)
T79 - Spearman (13/35) - Singa (22/26) ---- whip ---- Sp (43/35) - Si (22/24) - Size 2 (2/1/1-4/1/0-4/0/1)
T80 - Worker (12/60) - Singa (16/26) - Size 3 (2/1/1-4/1/0-4/0/1-2/3/2)

Micro for DIM:
T72 - Horse Archer (0/50) - DIM (19/30) - Size 5 (2/1/1-4/1/0-4/1/2-1/3/1-3/0/1-2/0/2)
T73 - HA (6/50) - DIM 25/30 ---- whip ---- HA (66/50) - DIM (25/26) - Size 3 (2/1/1-4/1/0-4/1/2-2/0/2)
T74 - HA (49/50) - DIM (18/28 - Size 4 (2/1/1-4/1/0-4/1/2-1/3/1-2/0/2)
chop finished
T75 - Archer (5/25) - DIM (23/28
T76 - Archer (11/25) - DIM (14/30) - Size 5 (2/1/1-4/1/0-4/1/2-1/3/1-2/0/2-3/0/1)
T77 - Archer (17/25) - DIM (20/30)
T78 - Archer (23/25) - DIM (26/30) - Size 5 (2/1/1-4/1/0-4/1/2-1/3/1-2/0/2-2/1/5) ---- silver mine finished ---
T79 - Settler (5/100) - DIM (16/32) - Size 6 (2/1/1-4/1/0-4/1/2-1/3/1-2/0/2-2/1/5-1/3/0)
T80 - Settler (19/100)
T81 - Settler (63/100)
chop finished
T82 - Settler (77/100) ---- cottage -> hamlet...
T83 - Settler (91/100)
So Horse Archers are finished on T74 and T75, settler done on T84, which should give our Workers some time to prepare the road to Marble City. I plan on using the chariot the Ottomans gift us to cover our workers and defend our new city.

And a micro for Midas:
T72 - Horse Archer (7/50) - Midas (11/24) - Size 2 (2/1/1-6/0/1-2/0/2)
T73 - HA (8/50) - Midas (17/24)
T74 - HA (9/50) - Midas (23/24)
T75 - HA (10/50) - Midas (17/26) - Size 3 (2/1/1-6/0/1-2/0/2-1/5/1)
T76 - HA (46/50) - Midas (22/26)
chop done
T77 - HA (2/50) - Midas (14/28] - Size 4 (2/1/1-6/0/1-2/0/2-1/5/1-1/2/8]
T78 - HA (10/50) - Midas (18/28] ---- Whip ---- HA (60/50) - Midas (18/24) - Size 2 (2/1/1-6/0/1-2/0/2)
T79 - Library (11/90) - Midas (12/26) - Size 3 (2/1/1-6/0/1-2/0/2-1/2/8]
T80 - Library (14/90) - Midas (17/26)
T81 - Library (17/90) - Midas (22/26)
T82 - Library (20/90) - Midas (14/28] - Size 4 (2/1/1-6/0/1-2/0/2-2/0/2-1/2/8]
So we finish a horse archer on T77 and another one T79.
