As a French person I feel like it's my duty to explain strikes to you. - AdrienIer

Gavagai wants his starting screenshot here

Mostly tons and tons of CG3 LBs, yeah. He had on average about 4 of them in every city plus a few Xbows and Axes and a lone Pike. All junk units, basically. Rng was weird, I had several victories at very low odds and several instances when a unit died causing no damage. Not sure how it all adds up in the end.
I was aiming to have at least a Jan per his LB but was not able to hit this mark in time and even cover Jans had only about 16% against his LBs behind 40% defenses. And after Jans were spent defense bonus from castles kicked in.
I now think that may be I should have brought more catapults. The thing is that I initially planned a very broad alpha-strike hitting lots of weakly-defended targets with a lot of small groups but as dtay was bumping up his defenses like crazy, I had to constantly rework my plans for a more narrow focus. I was not able to quite adjust my production plans to match this. At the last moment I realized that I have come to the point when cats will be very useful but was able to include only two of them into crusading forces.
I wonder what exactly made dtay that fucking paranoid. Was it just a general fact that he had nothing better to do with his hammers but to sink them into LBs? Some specific action on my part? My reputation? Bad memories from the last game where we were neighbors?
(The sad thing is that Dark Savant is only a little softer with his Chichen Itza and aggressive trait and JR4 is now understandably vigilant.)

FYI Dark Savant essentially committed suicide: he knowingly put all his siege (about 12 cats) into a position where I could kill it, thus eliminating the main asset he had against me. I may actually be back into the game after the disaster which dtay's war was.
Also, a mechanics question: what happens if MoM gets absoluted during a GA?

The MoM's presence is only considered at the start of your Golden Age; once you have it, it can't be cut short. Getting the Mausoleum conquered away during a GA doesn't cut the duration either.

What does the Dark Savant front look like now? It sounds like his Chichen Itza +AGG were easier to work around than Dtay's defences.

The game is pretty much officially over for me because the war with DS turned out, after initial success, to be even more of a disaster. I was destroyed by Oromos: the thing with them is that they just refuse to take damage when behind defensive bonuses. You can through a knight after a knight after a knight at them and they are unscratched. Just two Oromos have evaporated something like 10 of my knights in this way and I was able to kill only one of them.
I am not complaining about RNG, really, it is totally my fault. Should have skipped the attack against dtay and just go to war with DS, would have won handily. There are numerous smaller mistakes I did during the war itself. Most notably, I should have been much more agressive with the use of my naval superiority, stupidly allowed DS to ferry quite a lot of troops from his islands to mainland. Feel pretty demoralized, like I am no good at this game at all. Do not know what DS is currently thinking but moral victory is definitely his.
Btw, if you know somene who wants to take this over, I will give this game to him/her (him, whom I am kidding) in a blink.

You may check Savant's thread for details but I never in my life felt as much humiliated. My only consolation is that I was not in the running to win this game anyway, so it did not really matter. Still, I was so bad in this game, that, basically, presented nothing more than a moderate difficulty training exercise for DS. Seriously, check his thread, take a note of all I did and make a point not to do the same shit ever in your games.
(I lost the battle for his capital. Oromos are monsters.)
Also, my congrats to DS. I do not think I can objectively evaluate his skill level at that point. A large part of me wants to lose to a good player but he did make mistakes, especially in the first war. But I admire his spirit, the way, he never folded under pressure but kept fighting. I wish my first game on RB was that good.

Your last two posts indicate pretty clearly that you are playing the game out of obligation at this point. Just confirming, are you willing to concede the game? If so, to whom?
