I forgot to mention earlier that Animal Farm had a forest grow this turn. On a roaded tile, too, so that's a saved worker turn when we want to chop it.
Our cities:

Animal Farm:
Beaver Rock:

Oh, and I checked our 0% science rate: it's 35gold + 3 beakers from the scientist, so we have a 1.2 beaker-gold skew.

Thanks for the overview screenshots, Cyneheard.
So our initial strike was far more successful than I had dared to hope. One wounded warrior...ouch. Have to wonder just what was happening there.
For the French core, I expect things will be tougher. Possibly a lot tougher. Where does the river through France's core connect? Could they have trade connections with anyone who might gift them metal?
On tactical plans...getting our units in position to threaten both core cities at once is more likely to pay off than just threatening one city. Although if that one city was somehow as weakly defended as Lyons....
If France does not have more than one spear in a city, then we can threaten the city from 2 tiles out -- but we need to position our stack so that if the spear comes out to attack we will be able to go around it to hit the city. Positions where the spear can come out and kill one of our chariots, and then still block the path to the city, are not helpful for us.
If there are no spears in a city, we can attack. If necessary, we burn down the city to keep France from taking it back. Resettlement can be done later if we should be fortunate enough to manage to raze Paris or Orleans. If there are multiple spears...maybe we can still do a bit of pillaging while we try to figure out how to get some axes. We will have to see.
Things look very positive so far. But it seems like it would be too much to hope to find all of France so poorly defended.

You know, I wouldn't call what we have done outright lying. It was all deception and guile and half-truths. I guess that makes us worse. Oh well.
Quote:We'll give you the benefit of the doubt on the double move.
How do you respond to our accusation that you've acted in bad faith in contrary to stated rules of RB3.
On the 20/3/10 you stated that you were going to trade with us Archery, yet you fully knew that the plotting of the CAN had decided we were not to be included within the alliance - yet you still promise us trade.
You've directly lied to me on at least 3 occasions (check your chat logs) - thats bad faith. I'd be ashamed to conduct myself as you have within this game.
Whilst this is only a game, i'm still disapointed in your conduct. If your ever invloved with a Civ game that I am playing in your actions here will be rememembered.
So a few things are obvious, they have no idea that 1/3rd of CAN orchastrated this and 1/2 directly deceived them and one handed over all their maps. HRE soured their relationship with other civs since France was so isolated. Krill orchastrated the war. And we played them for fools. That's not to say that their own weird play and the strange map layout didn't contribute to this situation. No power, no slavery, diplomatic isolation, and slow expansion = death.

They have river connections with Rome and Byzantium.
However, Rome only has copper, and a war of its own to deal with, so no dice there. Byz does not have copper.
1st assumption: Spears are either in Orleans or Paris. This might be flawed.
So, T76, we'll be at the white and yellow dots. A 1-move unit inside Orleans cannot attack them, because of the river.
T77, yes, a spear at either Orleans or Paris could hit our stack. However, we can go around them to hit both cities. An Orleans spear moving 1SE & attacking us would force us to cross the river to hit Orleans. Paris, however, will be open regardless of what they do.
7 warriors + 1 spear - 3 warriors known outside of territory = paper defenses.

Quote:Hey,
I checked the trade screen, and it's confirmed, France still has copper. They don't get it from another team, so they must have popped it between now and when the screenshot was taken that France sent to Carthage. I'm thinking it probably popped in one of the three mines they have around Paris.

That's crazy that the copper popped. Our forces, however, have conducted a brutal pillaging campaign, and have captured TWO French workers! One of these workers was hung immediately, rather than risk him being recaptured by the enemy foes. Only 4 chariots can hit Paris in 2t, sadly. But that's worth it IMO.

Conan slew the barbarian that threaten Mali's borders. He'll have to heal if they don't tell us where the Aztec are (1.5/4 health).

Popped copper? Talk about rotten luck (for us).
Ah, captured slaves to work for the glory of Avalon!
For Conan, he should be completely safe. Oases are two-move tiles, so no one can reach him where he is without us seeing them first.

Yeah, I can't say I'm worried about Conan. However, it would be nice to pick up contact with the Aztec, and Mali has been delinquent in trying to contact the Aztec for that. At least we've done our bit for them, keeping their copper city from being at risk of being razed.

England has requested help establishing contact with your esteemed nation. They have asked us where your warrior is so they can meet up with you... however I haven't a clue where it is! Swiss Pauli was playing when you guys met up and he's on vacation right now
So... England is NE of our territory but have a chariot to the west of us. Where should they go to meet up with you?
Thanks,
Daniel of Mali
