JR4 is also securing what he takes better than Gavagai is -- Gavagai has not much better than token defense, but I'd need a major assault to take back anything JR4 has (which might still happen, he has more quality than quantity -- he now has a few Machine Guns).

JR4 captured the small isolated city I had closer to dtay than to me. Gavagai captured unreinforceable Atlantium.
I recaptured Garrote Gorge from Gavagai, and have troops in place that are forking both Steadwick and Castleview. I'm not sure it's a great idea to recapture Castleview as Gavagai can probably easily retake it, but I might try anyway. (If he has a bunch of ships in port, I definitely will.)
No serious action between dtay and GermanJoey just yet.

He doesn't have much in the way of offensive troops, but with things stretched to the limit it'll still cause pretty serious problems.
Gavagai reinforced Castleview, enough to make recapture a dubious prospect even if I didn't have to worry about actually holding it, so I recapture Steadwick instead. He landed a bunch of rifles (and not much else) at Vertigo, which I'm going to try to hold.
No one else declared war, but additional declarations will make things more difficult, of course.

Agreed. Great job. That's one of the best shark fins I've seen on a power graph in quite some time.

I lost something like 150 units in that last war
What I did wrong: I should not have tried to decide the war in one decisive offensive action. Never a good idea against someone who actually has better units (DS had a promotion advantage in both wars due to Agg trait and Oromos natural Drill2). I had to declare much earlier and focus on taking periphery cities and only after that move to his capital.
Also, I got my unit composition wrong: too many Rifles, too little Grens and Cannons.
Overall, very well played DS, this is the kind of the first game one may be proud of.

Yeah, I was wondering why you didn't try to secure Vertigo to the north first before trying to advance on my capital, in either invasion.
Getting Gunpowder in time just after your first invasion started more or less saved me. Oromos actually aren't that fantastic against Knights, since all those first strikes don't count against the Knights' negate first strike ability (ok, they do get Combat 1 and easy Formation); what mattered more is that you tried to attack them behind castle walls.
And yeah, I was wondering if you were even going to attack me the second time, because I didn't even see any cannons until just before you actually invaded.

In both wars my initial plan was to decide the war quickly and then mop up. In your case capturing your capital was the key, after it is lost, you are no longer able to defend.
The thing is, this is a strategy you need to use against someone much weaker (or without large standing army) and you have not actually been that much weaker. The key thing is that your units were actually able to beat mine in one on one battle and you had them in healthy numbers. In such situation what you need to do is to fight a proper war of attrition.
