Don't you need currency to give gold ?
Reply

Hmm, darn- I think you're right. Wonder if France was confused as well, or if they had some other idea?

We should get currency from Kyan not too long from now, hopefully France can hold out till' then. If not, well it was a nice offer anyway wink

Perhaps we should suggest that they should give it to the first civ to reach currency who isn't aligned with England or Egypt?

Babylon should have Currency research finished before long. Do we trust them enough by this point to have France pass it to them? Or haven't they met yet?

Will it work if Babylon gives only us currency?

I'm not sure if France will last long enough anyway to gift us anything. We'll see.

Hey check out India's email to us, seems like a fairly positive response & more confirmation that we're pretty close to India as far as their friendships go.

I made some alterations to the turn-plan following that barb intervention. Nothing too big, but it should all add up again. Best estimate for now is that we'll need two more turns of 0% science before spending 9 on full to get Math. The fourth city may change this slightly, but it should be close enough. smile

Also, a quick overview of our cottages this turn:

The Citadel:
1 hamlet, 18 turns to village
1 cottage, 2 turns to hamlet
1 cottage, 9 turns to hamlet

Eden prime:
1 FP hamlet, 20 turns to village
1 FP cottage, 4 turns to hamlet
1 cottage, 10 turns to hamlet

Played turn but didn't end yet.

Moved stuff, met Ruff, sent brief greetings email & chat invite.

The turn was fairly close to ending so I had a look around and hit the End turn button. France sent us a thank you note in-game for the Masonry gift earlier.

Also of note is that the Hanging Gardens were built this turn. Not by India though, but by one of the three Civs we haven't met yet (the top 5 cities tab lists it as Unknown).

Turn 78:

Therum was founded this turn, and should be connected to our road network on T79. Strangely enough, planting the city didn't seem to significantly increase our maintenance costs so Math will be done a turn sooner than expected. No complaints there though! We also finished the road linking Feros directly to Eden Prime. That should be a nice help in case we need to move units between both cities in the future.

Additionally, our Iron mine was finished this turn so we can start building Spearmen and Axemen. Feros will finish its Barracks next turn and will start a round of Spears at that point. Once the Incas share Archery with us, we can build some archers as well.

I left our military units unmoved except for Jenkins. He needed just one turn to reach full strength so I let him do so for now. He has visibility on an English Horse Archer at the moment, so the English (and possibly other CAN members) will have access to HBR already.

Last interesting tidbit is that it was Ruff_Hi and the Aztecs who founded Buddhism, which we now know as he adopted it as his state religion.

Okay I finished moving units and ended turn.

A couple brief items of note:

-We met the Ottomans, who have 6 (!) cities. I sent them a brief greetings email.

-Sent a thank-you email to Portugal for their assistance in helping us get contact.

-Sent a brief email to Rome noting India's desire for clarifications regarding relations between their civs (India attacking Rome is bad for us, so hopefully Rome will read between the none-too-subtle lines of my missive).

-Told Inca that researching Priesthood would be a good idea next.

Also been a while since we've heard from the Friendly Kittens. I know that they all say they have RL issues, which is fine, but that hasn't seemed to have prevented them from making trades with CAN members. I'd like to confirm with them how they see the diplo situation worldwide (how/why did they manage a trade with Carthage?), and get them in a chat with us and India soon. I don't suspect betrayal or anything from them, but it is strange that they no longer bug me several times a night with chat requests.
