not that I'm happy to be proven right in the circumstances, but I've certainly found that the AI in FFH2/EitB will always be willing to attack the player, no matter your relationship.
A previous attempt to comment got eaten by the internet gods. Oh well.
I wonder if Sabathiel bought Kandros into the war? He was facing a 2-on-1 with us and Tasunke, so he may have sought an ally of his own. I don't suppose there is anyone we could bring into the fighting on our side? The Elohim liked us, but probably not enough to go to war. I don't remember what Falamar's relations were like with the western powers.
Good to hear we have some Mobius Witches. They will accumulate XP and become ever more useful, assuming we can keep them alive of course.
I thought I had mentioned that Grottiburg had a small chance of revolting; if not, my apologies. More zombies in the city had reduced the problem to zero during my set, plus I wanted to defend the city from Sabathiel anyway. If we can get even a small amount of culture going there, it would help.
Well, things are certainly getting exciting. Maybe TOO exciting.
Khazad declaring war killed a ton of lucrative trade routes not only to them but to the Elohim, which is what's killing our economy right now.
I'm not sure if going straight to Iron Working is a thing we could do. it might be better to go straight to Currency so that we can run Consumption and be able to bribe either Kandros or Sabathiel out of war. It'd be nice to grab more from Sabathiel before peacing with him though.
Incidentally, I find it highly unlikely Kandros himself got bribed into war since neither civ themselves have Currency. Without gold and techs there's nothing to bribe AIs with, so the only way Sabathiel had anything to do with it is if he asked a favor.
With a two-front war to deal with, I am more concerned with holding what we have than with grabbing more territory. At least for now. Getting peace with one or the other (or both) would be very helpful, if there is a way to do so. We could always go back to war at a later date when we have consolidated our position a bit, gotten iron weapons for our units, etc. Right now I am worried about losing cities. War with two opponents who have significantly higher power than we do could turn into disaster very quickly.

Well he did go from friendly during my set to cautious on war dec. That's a big swing.

More notes for Brian, in case he hasn't played yet:
I really didn't see much power from Kandros; I killed three trebs and a bunch of adepts and all I've seen since are a few single adepts running around. The border cities don't have particularly strong garrisons, and we could pick up a death node and two gold mines by taking Gridmok. The zombie stack near Gridmok is not setting up to attack the city, but escorting the worker stack who are converting mines to windmills to get Froihk out of starvation.
I have a sign saying "Leave 1 bear" on the den, but Falamar is coming with two enraged mithril (!) lunatics to kill the remaining two bears, so we should try to grab those as quickly as possible before Falamar beats us to it.
There are two Bannor triremes trolling our coastline; I've been blasting them with fireballs and we may be able to kill them soon if Sabathiel doesn't move them away.
