Is there any interest in a small Pitboss (8-10 players) with RTR mod and AI diplo? My vote is to allow map trading but I don`t feel very strongly about it. Events/Huts OFF. I prefer playing on a Toroid with normal RB lushness, leaving the rest to the map maker(s).
Hopefully we can get enough players even with PB 38 just having begun.
List of players
1. JR4
2. yuris 125
3. wetbandit
4. ipecac
5. Ghostpants
6. Charriu
7. Dark Savant
8. Superdeath
SETTINGS
Difficulty: Monarch
Speed: Normal
Era: Ancient
Turn speed: 24 hours/turn (ingame clock adjusted to keep turns to 24 hours)
Vassals: off
Tech Trading: off
Huts: off
Events: off (broken)
Barbs: on, normal (Not raging)
Espionage: On. No active missions allowed. No Spies.
Diplo: AI-diplo
Double moves: Don't be a jerk aka normal RB double move rules. If in doubt or a newb, ask the lurkers.
Other:
* No city gifting or trading
* No using trade window to communicate (e.g. using letters or numbers in a way that could be interpreted something else than a real trade offer). Exception: Fish-for-Fish deals are allowed.
Map Trading: The mod enables map trading at Writing, note that due to consensus map trading is allowed at Paper only.
Blockades: Allowed.
Mod: Rtr 2.0.8.3.
Toroid.

Sure, happy to play PBEM as well if there's no enough interest for a pitboss

I'd probably want to play those settings. PB38 is moving so slowly that I need something else to concentrate on.

Would be interested, but never played proper multiplayer before

I'm actually considering this, though this would get me into three games simultaneously at RB, which would probably exceed my available bandwidth if I survive long enough in both Civ 4 games.
Right now, I'll be conservative and say I'll remained unspoiled but be available as a replacement, but I'm on the edge.

Welcome! MP civ is a lot of fun. I suggest teaming up with a veteran player in your first game, it made a world of difference for me in my first game here on RB (PB37).

I declined joining in on PB 38 as PB 37 was still in progress as I`d never play two games at the same time. Considering to play three games at once - wow, that`s a lot. Anyway, you are of course welcome to join.
So, we have 5 signups and Dark Savant on a maybe. It looks like PB 39 really is happening!

The other game is a MOO1 succession game. 10 turns of MOO1 probably isn't going to take nearly as much time as a single turn of later-game Civ 4.
And PC gaming has been my main hobby since long before people recognized it was one. I've been playing PC games most days since almost the very day the original IBM 5150 was released in 1981 (my father had a hand in designing it, so he got one with the IBM employee discount right away), when there were only literally a handful commercially available.
So yeah. Game playing is basically never going to stop for me.

I would love to play Civ4 here. I only have one problem:
I never played a Pitboss game before, so I'm not sure if I get the setup right on my side.
Like others I'm also up for a PBEM. And like Ghostpants I count myself to the multiplayer newbies.

For Pitboss, you need to follow instructions in this thread. You will need to edit your hosts file, and if you have a Steam version of Civ4, do some extra steps in Steam to enable Pitboss functionality
No additional steps needed for a PBEM
