Wow that's a lot of diplo today. I've got to finish packing so I can't spend as much time commenting as I would like. The first thing that pops out in front of me is that chat between CHASM and DIM, and your chat with Byz, especially in regards to Krill. Both CHASM and Krill see to be playing strongly in their own best interests, but it seems like our interests match up with theirs.
I will be online around the usual time tomorrow night if you are back in town and will have MSN up until I go to bed. However, I will not be in town as early as I thought I would... I landed a job interview that happens to be right on the way home so will have to post in the IT thread asking for a pause.

Well, perhaps even more diplo today (I got home earlier than expected, and hopped on to chat). The big (scratch that, HUGE) news is that Portugal betrayed the PAT, and so now the cat is out of the bag. Obviously, there was a lot of diplo shake-down because of that, but I'll let you read the chats instead of trying to paraphrase it.
Oh, and we also decided we will research CS, starting next turn when Krill finishes CoL. Thus research is on 0% again this turn.
In regards to the game: I made most of our moves (they were pretty obvious this turn). The only real question left for this turn is where to move our spear.
Next turn, allow the NC to heal on the tile that it is on (unless the axe moves towards our cottage I guess, then we'll see).

I read through the e-mails and am halfway through the chats. You are right about Portugal betraying the PAT being huge news. Since the turn didn't roll until 1 pm and I don't work until 9 am tomorrow, I figure I will go to bed shortly and then look at the spear and make a decision there. Do you have any preferences about him?
Basically, that one interview turned into two and made the 4 hour drive home into a 7 hour drive. Hopefully that's good news but I'm pooped, and ready for my own bed!

My two thoughts on the spear would be somewhere between the cap, Boring, and L-Wood just to generally respond to barbs. My other thought was to keep it around centralia just in case our NC loses to the axe.
On the diplo front: I still haven't responded to either India or the Otto's requests for Construction. Just so you know, HRE and the Aztec have also asked for it in game, but didn't send an accompanying email (I of course declined). I haven't emailed any of those. If you can think of a way to respond to India and the Otto's without really saying much, we probably should (especially the Otto's). They probably know about PAT by know, but that is alright. Those could wait till the morning though if you'd like.
Here's hoping the interviews went well.

Short chat with India and Krill this morning. I'll make myself around this evening to discuss India and Ottoman diplo. To get the ball rolling... I don't honestly think we owe either of them anything. I would like Aesthetics, and think we need to get it from India (correct me if I'm wrong) ... so would be happy to pay them for it. But would rather pay in gold than in Construction... not because I want to deny it to them but because I want to deny other civs the "other civ knows" bonus.
Similar deal with Ottoman but simpler... neither team owes the other anything, except for the terms of the NAP. I would like to keep it at that, and then be sufficiently powerful in the north at T100 to keep it that way...

Well, the India diplo situation has changed again, with Mali drafting a response to India for the PAT (essentially) saying they will research Aesthetics. I've asked they delay in sending that, as I would feel bad if that is how India finds out we are rejecting them. I'll wait for your thoughts on the situation though.

Good timing, turn just rolled as I was about to get on. Time for night-time snack and then Goodnight Moon, then I will be around...

Sounds good. I think tonight might be a good candidate for a MSN chat, btw, considering all the diplo and alliance breakdown stuff.

I saved the following draft in G-mail. If you like it, send as is. Otherwise, feel free to edit and change as necessary and then send, if you see it before I am back online tonight...
Quote:Good morning DJ Civ,
First off we want to apologize for the awkwardness this whole situation has brought about. We wish that the game had not gone down this road, but must go with the flow so to speak, and hope to keep good relations with your team for the future.
That having been said, we are still willing to trade construction to your team but must insist on certain terms that we feel would be mutually beneficial:
*India gives Carthage 36 gold the turn they have Currency. That would even out our current beaker skew at a 2.5:1 beaker:gold ratio which is quite generous in India's favor.
*India gives Aesthetics to Egypt, Mali, Maya, England, Babylon, and Carthage
*At that time, Carthage will give Construction to India
Please note that we never saw you as "demanding" anything from our team. If you refuse this deal, however, we will have to seek other sources for Aesthetics. We would like to continue to pursue friendly diplomacy with your team in the future, so please let us know what you think.
Until later,
Mr. Nice Guy for Team Nice Shot
I also sent a note to Swiss asking him to hold off with his note just a little longer, and let him know about the second clause, which I think will save our hinds with PAT if the deal goes through. It should also be enough, hopefully, to make India refuse the trade. Or if they accept.......
