The problem with a strict timer is those days when someone plays earlier than their normal slot one day.
So the turn ends early (Yay!), but then the next day it tries to end early as well but the player can't get to it because he isn't even home from work yet.
I think our current 25ish hour average is just fine. It feels annoying when we pause, but the statistics show it really isn't that bad.
