Elkad, xenu and pindi - as someone who's probably had more cities captured or burned by OT4E than anyone else on this site he's always been totally honourable (and entertaining to read after) so I presume his post was made with the intention of keeping the game rolling and not for any personal gain.
OT - I hope you'll play and sub future games. So long as we don't start as neighbours again.

I am trying to be good and when one guy who deserved my respect as player and good man in past feels frustration from the game I go ahead and try to find some words to motivate him to play on. This is the common thing that lurkers are supposed to do, arent they? But they dont give a fuck. Ok, who cares... But more than that when I do their job they accuse me in cheating. Lol? Do you seriously think that posting in someone's thread is a good way to cheat? Of course I read threads, or how do you think they have that much views? So what I am trying to say is not that I am offended. Who cares if I am. I am trying to say that if the one feels abused by my actions and this is a strict rule not to read threads even if you have 0 interest then feel free to declare me cheater. Of course in this case there is nothing for me to do in your games. If this is not a strict rule but just a gentleman agreement then my gentleman's word that I dont cheat must be enough to resolve issue.
For me is fine as I know from 2mn you are a true gentleman, was alitle strange becasue you didnt played your turn as well(you usualy play very quick) so i beleived you gave up and becasue of that you go to Gav thread and hence a pause to sort the problem(there were 5 hours on clock and i knew there are 2,3 people to play after you).

Firstly, I really appreciate the sentiment behind you posting in my thread. I think, the fact that no one ever posts there contributed - in a small part to the fact that I am not enjoying the game. But this is my own fault: I frequently use my spoiler threads to offload emotions, so that they do not influence how I play this game. I can see how it may be offputting for an outsider. However, people have all the right to be displeased by your post. I do not think anyone in the right mind would accuse you of cheating. There is a huge difference between you reading my thread and, say, me reading Commodore's thread - everyone understands that. But this difference is imprecise and you cannot quite identify the moment where it stops being innocent. This is why going into each other's spoiler threads is by itself prohibited, irrespective of negative consequences it causes: it may start innocent but spiral out of control. This is like heroin: usually, you would not get addicted from one shot, but it is highly inadvisable to make this shot anyway. Also, keep in mind that even if you can self-police (and I believe you can), there are a lot of people around who cannot and you set a bad precedent for them by signaling that reading spoiler threads of your opponents is alright. I really hope you stay around, you are a great asset to the community. And I still want you to sub for me. In fact, we may swap places right now, if no one objects.
Gav, for me the moment you are talking about happened when Commodore on your sub request said smth like "how about OT4E in a few turns?"
If it is a strict rule not to reveal game information then why is it allowed to speak about what is happening to my civ in public thread? If everyone realises that I am dead in a few turns then why do you care about me reading someone's thread? |
