Turn 10- We have spotted Gems!
Being CHA we dont need them nearly as badly.. but having spotted few non-calendar happy sources.. i feel we need to control the gems. Its looking like taller cities vs lots of cities is likely going to be the case.. unless they are going to be rather far apart? Commodore apparently likes the more normal maps, which is what im used to playing on before playing here on RB. AGG+ ikhanda should help with the extra distance we need to go for the better city sites.
MasterJason what are your thoughts?

Sorry, been a hectic week with the holiday and work, I’ll have some thoughts later tonight or tomorrow now that I can actually sit and think about it for awhile.

So looking at what's on the map, that Gems seems like a worthy target. I made a rough dotmap of the area we have revealed currently, it gets pretty much all of the resources with minimal overlap, there are some wasted tiles just south of the capital, but if there's something there (like copper) it would be easy to stick another city in there.
I still think I like the southern 2nd city spot better, the tiles seem more productive overall, and that fish to the far north will be hard to get into a BFC anyway. I also marked where city 3 would be, and the roadblock city you have a sign down for. I then fit in two more cities including a possible gems city (although it's not very good defensively, being on flat ground and next to water, I can't tell if that's just a two-tile lake or something larger, if it's just a small lake than it's not as bad.), and a couple way-too-early city spots in the far west that are mostly fog.
Purple dot would have the weakness of needing a border pop to work anything good, as well as the roadblock city.

If you are up for it, ill let you handle the city naming. Preferably something i can remember and type in a report. Capitol still needs a name

Turn 16-
well, im starting to have 2nd thoughts about our 2nd city orphaning that fish.. fish is.. 5-6 food or so. If it was like a crab, or clam i wouldnt be so torn on leaving it be. The torn part is, if we settle on the 1 plains tile we have for the fish+corn, it will be a great spot. fish/corn for food, and can use the hills from the cap for production. That would make our 2nd city a military pump vs helping the cap mature cottages.. Decisions decisions.. Moving the scout, we have one hell of a good 3rd city though. Corn/wheat. and can share corn/crab with cap. The middle of this map looks like its pretty much covered in jungle.. I think our first couple settlers should go east/ after the 2nd city. However, if maintence costs arent terrible i might just spam settlers and go towards the gems. This terrain certainly seems to favor the impi!
Im very curious how someone is pulling in 11 food.. max should be 10 right now, with 2population.. ? unless they got wet corn, + another 3 food from something like our sugar? Curious what everyones cap/start looks like. I guess we will find out...

That makes sense for city 2, just move it slightly north and save the fish. Agreed that city 3 looks really good with the eastern corn. Gem city definitely should be further south to get that cow into play.
I noticed one of the capitals also has one extra water tile compared to the others as well, 18 land vs 19, not sure if that could help cause the food discrepancy.
Coeurva may have gone workboat first? Would an improved seafood plus a land food get to 11?
I can probably get some time in tonight for city mapping again now that we have most of the immediate area revealed. I’d expect to run into someone else soon, too.
