[SPOILERS] Charriu and Zalson are fighting the honorable post count war!

That's good advise. I will try to remember it at the right time.

There's an additional benefit in Iron Working. We need it or better the iron for our UU.

I was thinking about settling 1SW of the ivory, sharing the capital's pig in the beginning and having the ivory in the first ring. With a later border pop we gain the banana.

I wanted to do a proper dotmap on T45 when my warrior explored the last tiles in the east before he has to come back for protection duty. Finding a good spot with the gold is tricky. Currently I'm tending towards 1E of the gold with another city to secure the rice for this city.

Can you post a screenshot or two showing the tech tree through ancient/classical/medieval? I'm very foggy on my memory of the exact dependencies and relative costs.

T43:

No screenshot this time, because of lack of anything visually interesting to show. Superdeath double-whipped this turn; propably a settler from him. I also checked if any tiles/resources in the fog are improved and so far none. That's means Coeurva did not settle in our direction.

Here you go. It's very big so I put it into spoiler tags:

My warrior only has a few more tiles to explore and those won't change the dotmap in a big way. So I prepared a bigger overview and will start on dotmapping:

EDIT: I was stupid and forgot to disable the fog of war. Now without fog. smug

And here is what I've come up with:

And this is what I want to do with those cities in the future:

Wind Raptor: Has good potential for a production or commerce city. I will build it up as an production city first and as long as it's a border city. Later if the border is far away it could go to commerce.
3rd (green): As you can see I give up on that filler city . It was just not good enough. This way this city is more free to develop. It can be an amazing Great People city or Commerce city. Should I manage to capture RFS's city this will become a commerce city if not it will produce great people.
4th (grey): Secures happiness in form of ivory. Early on it will use the pig from Exdeath, but later it could switch to the banana. This will be an solid production or commerce city.
5th (red): The weakest city spot so far. It will mainly work as a commerce city and it will ensure that the next city has access to rice from the beginning.
6th (yellow): This will secure gold for me and it will be a good production city similar to Wind Raptor. It will propably also be my border city towards Coeurva. Also if there is really a desert food resource under the fog I will secure it that way. I looked into the oasis spot from Cornflakes, but I found that one weaker to this one.
7th (not seen): This will be my island city south of Exdeath
Violet: Unimportant. Can be a commerce city much later, but not that attractive.

There will be more cities in the jungle and east, but first I need more exploration there.

I noticed that Magic is almost always the last to play and never does the next turn immediately. His thread is also very active lately. Something is happening there and I think he is in conflict or something with another player. Looking at the other players login times it's propably not Shallow or Superdeath, who he is dealing with. This leaves just Coeurva and RFS. I suspect that Coeurva is the one, because he was asking about a potential double-move maneuvre some turns ago.

How soon can we get to 6? I think getting to 6 cities by T70 is the best goal.

Additionally: where's the food!? Sheesh!

T44:

Something is happening out there. Magic whipped two of his cities last turn, which must be his capitol and second city. But he also whipped 7 turns ago in his capitol. Something is happening around him and it's not something peaceful. I also looked at the city names of the other two players and noticed that RFS named his second city "Lighthouse". Interesting.

Back at home War Wilhelm did not find anything interesting under the fog. But I looked at my micro plan again. My settler will start moving in T48. Above you can see my adjusted exploration route (Red = War Wilhelm, Violet = Settler, Blue = War Wesley). The newly build warrior (Wesley) will be fogbusting from the hill 2NE of the capitol. That way he's preparing the path for the settler. He does not have to return to Exdeath until Exdeath grows back to 4 so I can use him to protect the settler on the first half of his journey and War Wilhelm can take the other half. Of course I will have to move War Wilhelm first in T49. That way the third city is founded in T51.

Next turn I will finish Archery and will have to decide wether to go for religion or not. So far this is what I know:
  • No one founded a religion so far
  • Coeurva discovered a tech in T41 without gaining soldier points. Looking at his GNP and comparing it to my science rate at those turns he may have produced 86 beakers from T36 to T41. Depending on the overflow he could have discovered Agriculture or Mysticism.
  • Superdeath discovered a tech in T44 which I don't know what it is. But then again he is CHA, he does not need a religion for happiness
  • Magic is occupied with other stuff right now, but he has Mysticism from the start
  • Of course others could already work on Mysticism or Meditation(Magic)
  • Mysticism will be done in T50
  • By my estimates I discover Meditation in T55 and Polytheism in T57.
  • If I go religion first Animal Husbandry would be discovered at T61 with Meditation and T62 with Polytheism
  • My 4th settler could be ready on T58 and settle on T59 (with roads in place)
  • Shallow discovered a tech in T42, which could only be Mysticism if his beaker count is terrible, which is unlikely if he wants that religion and because of the "Worst Rival" GNP value the last turns
  • Exdeath and Wind Raptor are propably at the happiness cap around the late 50s early 60s.

I doubt Couerva went for agriculture on T50 with OT4E as his ded-lurker. He is probably going mysticism.

Since the point of settler 4 is to grab the ivory for extra happy, I don't think we should go religion first. AH first so we have it + vision on horses in advance of founding city 4. Then we can make sure we settle horses.

What's RFS-81's power like? It's also nice to see our demos looking ok at this point in the game. We'll have to work to keep them there -- but from your screenshot we're working all improved tiles so good job there.

We're making a good use of early chops to power development but we should start thinking about some cottages; we definitely need them in advance of city 4 to ensure that we can stagnate the capital at size 6 working the crabs, the 2 good mine tiles, and 3 cottages (swapping to sugar and corn when we need growth).

Looking at your plan for Karlabos: is there any way we can move the workers over there sooner rather than later? Do we need to mine the marble tile? I think we'd rather have a few cottages and start to move the workers over toward Karlabos?
