It is so by default and it is the laptop from which I always played. The computer has not changed, what has changed is my location and my internet access.

I kicked Aretas from the game using the pitboss server interface, saving 18 characters on the log in screen.

Did this change the game or something? I can no longer see the leaders to select the civ from:

Literally, the same thing I am getting.

After I kicked Aretas I tested connecting to the server, going as far as the civ selection screen. That went fine for me so at least I know that kicking Aretas didn't make the problem worse.

I will try run a packet capture tonight when I'm home from work to see if there is any packet fragmentation happening, which is a documented cause of this problem (as shown in the thread 2MN linked earlier). That will be at least 14 hours from now though.

I'm wondering about possible port-blocking. Possible you guys having problems could try connecting through a public VPN?

Mullvad.net does free trials (as do many other VPN companies).

Other option. Someone with a server (including me) spin up a VM, throw civ on it, give out remote access to it. I've played my turn when my laptop wouldn't hold a connection by remoting into my desktop.

I am trying to do it through Betternet but he says that I am not connected to the Internet, though I most surely am.

Played and repaused. VPN did the trick.

Clock is running, under eleven hours remaining on the new turn, only six people have played the new turn. Whoever logs in next please pause when you're done. I'm guessing after a several day delay some people haven't noticed we've restarted again.
