Oh and end turn if you can. I'm not going to be able to play for several more hours, so it's just going to roll over if you don't.

Sounds like HRE or Ottos might do the merchant, but no confirmation back yet on that front. I guess we should stay on merchants for at least this turn, doesn't affect much with us on cash anyway and building a settler.

And just recieved confirmation that we can delay getting the merchant, either HRE or Ottos will do the first one instead. So back to working hamlets I guess smile

D'oh.. we really need to pick up the pace again. That's like the second turn in a row everyone is waiting for us to stop slacking? smile

I'll be home in about two hours and end the turn unless you beat me to it.

Okay, ended turn. Took citadel off of merchants based on discussions with Ottos / HRE. Settler back to eta 3 turns. It sounds insane, but what about another settler after this one finishes? Or a forge, perhaps.

I'll have to re-read out settling arrangement with India, but if we aren't allowed to try to claim resources under our line of demarcation with our borders, then your proposed city 5 spot is best.

Moved chariots for new turn, 2 can intercept the barb axe, the rest are healing / fortified / moving to garrison positions. Set Feros to build a 2-turn archer for city 5, might want a forge after that? If we go for another settler in the Citadel, then probably a spear is necessary first.

I haven't moved any of the workers. Might want to send the 2 from France to mine the forest plains hill at The Citadel, we also need to make a farm at Eden Prime ASAP for merchants, probably. Still not sure if we want to build a farm or cottage or desert mine now at Feros.

I don't really see why we need a farm at Eden. What prevented it from being an effective GP farm was its low population, but with the current food surplus it will be corrected very quickly. More cottages will give a better return, as the city will grow and sustain itself quite nicely for the forseeable future.

Not sure where the Settler would go right now. I'd like to add cities NW (commerce) and NE (production) of the Citadel, but with a threat of attack that's not a good idea. We can add more commerce cities to the south, but didn't we want more production centres for Cataphracts as well?

I figure that a fp farm will allow Eden to reach more specialists more quickly, which is what we're using the city for right now, correct? We can always cottage over it later. But perhaps 1 extra food isn't worth giving up the commerce; I really have no idea. Totally your call, I'm leaving workers to you.

Any location for the 6th city is a good one. NE gives us a needed production spot. NW is a great hybrid location and secures our border with Babylon. A Commerce site allows us to free up the Citadel, Feros, and our latest city (Therum?) to focus on production. Also a commerce site in the south will have decent food, and therefore can whip some 'phracts if we really need it to contribute. I know that we're getting threats of an attack, but A: I think those are exaggerated, and B: no reason why we can't stick a couple spears in the city, an archer, and make walls the first build.

We should get a Barracks out first. With the French Workers about to clear the forest from the hill, it should only take 2 turns to complete, and we can pump out promoted units from two cities that way. That or a forge, for added production. smile

I moved one of the Workers at Therum to Feros and build another farm and ended the turn. It's better over a desert mine since it raises the population cap. smile

Turn 96:

It's quite possible we're leading on Barb axe kills. 6 So far, and now two more have appeared out of the fog. Perhaps they're actually Egyptian and English soldiers in disguise? shhh

This turn we took out the last barb axe inside our borders with a chariot that gained enough XP for level 4 from the battle. The barbs currently marching up to our borders will all be intercepted before they can threaten anything.

We'll finally finish the Settler for the 5th city next turn. Bob and I had a chat, and we agreed we need to play catch-up with most other Civs. If the attack isn't aimed at us, we'll try to get two more cities out relatively quickly. For now though, we'll get a Forge in the Citadel first.

Feros is still churning out military. We still have to get a Forge and Stables in there, but Therum is too young to really take over. Therum is currently focussed on growing to size 3, at which point we'll work the Copper again to finish its Granary. After that, we'll probably get in a Barracks and start on military.

Eden is booming. It'll pretty much grow every 2-4 turns depending on how much food surplus we work. Although we are not working any Specialists now, once we finish the Library we really should work some Scientists here.

Other than that, we will bring up our sentry net soon. The screenshot has some marked tiles that would make good vantage points. The NW one would probably be a Chariot, Jenkins can fill the middle one, and we'll probably train a Scout or Archer to watch the NE.

England founded and converted to Taoism this turn. They probably bulbed Philosophy with a scientist they got this turn. On our side, Ruff built the Buddhist shrine though. smile

Just one thing- we need a merchant, not a scientist, in Eden. Unless a scientist can bulb guilds. An academy would be nice & all, but a bulb makes more sense for expediency, I think.
