RBP3 [Spoilers] Capac of Mali

Rambling chat with England, but a few useful nuggets in there wink
Quote:18:02 Haphazard1,: Can you confirm that T99, Lit is due?
18:03 me: Certainly is.
Haphazard1,: awesome.
That's going to be hilarious.
Let's see, Bureau, Lit...and GLIB
in one turn.
18:05 me: Yeah, I heard Bab's are all set up and ready to go smile
Haphazard1,: that's awesome.
18:06 Oh, for calculating hammers in the box: "=(Sabotage Prod.*(100+Their EP against you))/(Investigate City*3)"
me: easy for you to say wink
18:07 Haphazard1,: well, I've got Excel to do the math for me
18:10 me: Am itching to get the sabotage prod number from Carthage
Haphazard1,: yeah
although this turn Ottos are in anarchy
once Paper comes in, you won't have an excuse
18:11 me: I guess that means we won't be getting that figure until next turn?
Haphazard1,: I think you'd still get the figure
but it'll be the same next turn
18:12 me: good point tongue
18:14 Haphazard1,: I'm looking at the tech tree, trying to see what makes sense for the two of us
Carthage will be Paper next
and then Guilds
With Babylon having 1 Gsci for a bulb, Edu --> Liberalism (stopping 1t) shy looks like a very good plan
18:15 And Maya should probably get Engineering
unless we want to go straight forNationalism
but that still leaves Drama and Music
18:16 We could start Drama now
and get in 3-4t
well +1 Anarchy
me: And I don't think we need Paper urgently do we?
Haphazard1,: it's the perfect cost for Carthage to go 100% before Feud comes in
18:17 Map trading's actually really helpful
no more trade route issues for anyone
can always swap resources
the rivers on this map are very interconnected
and long
also, for Lib's sake, we need Paper
18:18 Still, I think we should start Drama now
18:19 or at least see how long it woudl take
I only need 450 base beakers...2t of pre-Bureau + 3t of Bureau will easily do it
18:20 me: If we can afford to research useful techs then we should do so
18:21 Haphazard1,: the problem is, our gold reserves of PAT aren't going to last forever
18:22 I'd be spending all of my gold on hand
to do it
instead of making 25gpt
and more post-Bureau
18:23 it's more important to keep Maya, Carthage and Babylon at 100%
and you
18:24 me: Maybe we should reconsider once we get the info on pyramids
Haphazard1,: yeah, but I don't think England should be teching
18:25 me: With a REP-CE hybrid going on we can maintain strong tech at less than 100%
Haphazard1,: true, and you'll probably be the "odd man out" if there isn't enough gold
me: otherwise we switch back to funder
18:26 Haphazard1,: We'll get a Market up at London very quickly
At current commerce (which will increase a little), it's +15gpt from Bureau
and then +11 from the Market
so, that takes us to "can fully fund anybody"
with some extra
18:27 I think we can do 3 people at 100% and 1 person at approximately break-even
18:29 me: If pyramids is a no-go then we'll chop our almost completed Mint into a market at Sirian
18:30 which is another reason why we're on tenterhooks
Haphazard1,: the Mint still pays for itself
me: Mint's there for production with a handy bonus for cash
18:31 how's your HE quest going?
We're up to a 7XP so far.
Haphazard1,: just got to 10XP
Conan The Antibarbarian
me: which is a bit disappointing
Haphazard1,: Heroically slew a war during the interturn
18:32 near the peoples of Maya
me: as we keeping getting XP over all our units. Pesky barbs keeping coming from different directions!
Haphazard1,: hehe
Giving Conan sentry meant picking off barbs was really easy
18:33 also lovely for randomly looking to visit people
saw all sorts of land
without entering enemy territory
me: Yeah, we've done same to our chariot by the Inca border
18:35 not had a chance to peek into Kalin's Burgers yet, though
Haphazard1,: I have
0 buildings, as far as I can tell
18:36 me: Not much production on the FPs frown
We've finally been able to whip Paint It Brown's granary this turn
Haphazard1,: 25 hammers in the box @ KB
18:38 me: Changing tack, I think we should start looking a military options that might come if we have a window at Guilds/Eng
Haphazard1,: definitely
even w/o Eng, we still have a military window
18:42 I'm sure with a stack of whipped knights you could tear through at least a large chunk of Incan territory
me: Depending on the length of the window of opportunity wink
18:43 Haphazard1,: yeah
but, still, a quick stack of 6 knights, with support
can get a city or two
18:44 me: Not taking KB would be very poor :D
18:45 Haphazard1,: that's true
heck, you might be able to 1-move KB
me: Indeed
18:46 Haphazard1,: really, unless they get to 100 culture
coming in from the corner
18:47 me: shouldn't get too carried away though: non-PAT did manage Currency quick rapidly.
Haphazard1,: I know
18:48 me: But the main aim would have to be to stop Byz spamming its UU
Haphazard1,: that's...yeah.
Try to talk the Maya into planning that
Babylon's good to go
the northern civs have our own foes to worry about
I can't spare forces from the Otto/HRE border
me: Bab's didn't sound so keen in today's email
18:49 And he's the most exposed
Haphazard1,: yeah, but I'm thinking with mace and knights
me: which I found a bit odd (though they do have a NAP atm)
Haphazard1,: long-term, though (T115-120)
18:50 me: Medium-term
Haphazard1,: in this game? THat's long-term
me: and would need to avoid a new NAP
18:51 which is probably the most important part of forward military planning
18:52 Haphazard1,: ayer
one advantage of auto-renewing NAPs, I only need to know 10t ahead
18:53 4 of their non-anarchy 7 are teching
Rome
18:54 HRE
India
Portugal
me: Have they distributed cash as well as currency?
Haphazard1,: actually...5
18:55 a little?
Inca gave India some funds, I think
Portugal's probably got a request waiting'
and hasn't logged in
18:58 If I didn't have a NAP with HRE...they'd be out two workers right now
covering 2 workers with a woody II warrior
when I've got an axe 1S covering my worker
me: I saw that!
15 minutes
19:14 Haphazard1,: if I was evil...
me: yes...
Haphazard1,: HRE would be out two workes
and in a war
19:15 if there was no NAP, I'd definitely do it without thinking twice
I should run
19:16 me: me too
bye for now
Haphazard1,: cya

No Pyramids for Ottomans...

Quote:Dear Emperor Capac,

This turn, Aquilonia's sabotage production number is 0. Looks like they finished a build last turn, most likely a HA judging by the hammers count.

Boring is completing a settler next turn. Don't worry, we have no plans at all to build any wonders currently (and especially not the Pyramids, considering how much of our economy is cottages).

Had Carla road and L'Wren move to the hill (under Satisfaction) and ended turn.

We'll have to see what England's reaction to us going for Pyramids regardless will be, but I think it'll be hard to object to a wonder that will increase our net contribution to PAT wink

T98: England sent us 50 gold, but I think I accidentally cancelled it.

Marsha finished chopping the forest on Ruby Tuesday's grass hill. Next turn she should probably start a mine, or a road. Jungle chop finished on Paint it Brown's dyes, and started plantation. Jerry started a cottage on the grassland river tile SW of Sticky Fingers.

A barb Axe has appeared 2SE of Jack. Jack could whack it, or we could wait for it to advance and Satisfaction could take care of it. Satisfaction is at 6 XP, so that would get us closer to the Heroic Epic.

Sticky Fingers is ready to be whipped.

No worries about the gold seeing as we don't need it right now.

Let's leave the barb axe to Satisfaction if we can. I moved him onto Carla's road. Whipped Sticky Fingers. Moved Poison Ivy onto a hill to fogbusted because it will take her 9 turns to heal anyway.

Next turn, I think Marsha should road (before heading to chop the jungle).

What about the new worker at Uberfish? I was thinking she could move into the forest 2NE of Sirian and chop it.

And Egypt has made peace with Azteca in what shall be known as the Grouchy Morning War...

me: evening

Krill: hi mate

me: looks like Ottomans aren't going for Pyramids after all

Krill: Really?
22:38
me: sab prod is 0 this turn so it looks like they finshed a build

Krill: sab?

me: sabotage

Krill: ah, ok

me: hunt sabs and all that
22:39
was thinking we might as well build it anyway

seeing as we got stone from eng

and moved our workers
22:40
Krill: As far as I am concerned...

I don;t really mind

so long as you don;t die

me: it is a kick-me wonder early doors

but with all the multipliers we'd have

Krill: but now...

yeah
22:41
me: it's pretty cheap

Krill: less than 200 hammers base iirc

me: and whilst we're not writing off INca & Rome

we don't think they'll be attacking any time soon

Krill: yeah
22:42
me: so how's the Aztec war going, Mr Pacifism :D

Krill: tbh, feel a bit of regret there...
22:43
just woke up with little sleep and was quite grouchy

but didn;t want to attack the archer when it was in hills or forests

got it on the flatland

nor did I want it seeing that I had a sentry net up

so yeah.

Harsh attack
22:44
me: did it come from the Incan homelands or did it wander in from an odd place?

Krill: via maya
22:45
I'm setting up a sentry net to deal with anything Byz does

and a sentry WC saw it

98% chance to win...

and don;t want a possibly violent archer in my back lines
22:46
me: ruff had a woody II warrior in our neighbourhood a while back, but it scuttled off
22:47
g'night
22:48
Krill: cya mate

I was thinking the new Worker from Uberfish could spend a turn on a cottage and then build a mine 2S or 2S1W of Sirian. If L'Wren will be able to finish a second mine by the time Sirian can grow to use it, then we can do something else with the new worker.
Reply

I think we need 139 base hammers for Pyramids (450/3.25), and each third ring chop gives us 24 of those (if my quick WB test is correct). Sirian has 9 base hammers at size 6, and we could increase that to 11 at size 7 by hiring an engineer then add 3 more hammers (and lose 1 food) when L'Wren completes her mine (and we fire a cottager). We should have 4 base hammers of overflow as well.

Total = 135 (139-4 overflow hammers)
3 chops = 72
Total less chops = 63
63/5 = 12.6

This would require the new worker heading to chop (completed T102), Carla heading 1S to chop (T102), and L'Wren to mine, road, then chop (T103).

Seems quite feasible, if my micro is not completely wrong, that we could get Pyramids in a mere 5 turns of production (end T105) yikes We might come out at 6 turns if rounding goes against us because 12.6 hpt is pretty tight.
Reply

I'm pretty sure the Pyramids cost 500 hammers, not 450. So it would probably be 7 turns to build them.

Ooops...that would be the problem duh

T99 Partial Report

Literature in, so sent the tech to Maya (who had already requested it), offered to Carthage for Civil Service, and gifted to Babylon & England. Egypt still lacks Aesthetics (and hasn't asked for it).

Barb axe moved NE into the forest, so Satisfaction moved 1E of the rice to shadow it. Workers continued their tasks, with the 3rd chop finishing in Ruby Tuesday.

Had a rethink about the workers at Sirian: Carla should move 2S (SW, SE) into the forest and Jana (new worker) should finish the chop. She can then move S to chop the middle forest and be in position to road to Iron City. L'Wren can finish her mine, road it then move on to other tasks (e.g. complete cottage at Uberfish).

Uberfish set to a Market, and Sticky Fingers a courthouse.

Research parked on Drama at 0%. If we don't land Pyramids, then we'll revert to being a funder, and even if we do land the wonder we'll be a self-funding REP researcher.

When we get CS from Carthage then we revolt to BUR & HR.
